  Paranormal Activity

Lena was not a strong believer in the mystic arts and was more on the side of science, but she had seen enough magic in recent times to think that the answer to their escape could lie in just that. “Peter, you are the most magically inclined person in the room. Can you sense anything? I feel that the only way out is through some kind of mystical exit.” She had finished the vase now and eyed the design on the front. It looked pretty regular to her, with an ornate floarl design spanning the base and disappearing into white at the top. “The vase is finished and it doesn't seem to be doing anything. Nor are there any clues.” She picked it up and looked under the base, seeing a signature. “It's been signed by the creater. I doubt that means anything.” She placed the vase back on the pedestal and looked up to the ceiling.

Lena moved around the room, contmplating Peter's idea on the dead bodies. “We aren't sealed in here, so they could have escaped. I think something was down here, treasure perhaps. I bet there was another person who helped find the treasure, killed these two, and took it for themselves.” She continued to look around the room. The vase, positioned under the crack in the ceiling, began to fill with water.

Is there actually an answer or are we meant to come up with that ourselves? Without actually knowing it's really hard to say what happens.

” I'm inclined to agree with Lena, this room probably once contained a massive treasure which has long been stolen. ” Jonas replied as he watched Peter climb atop the lone pedestal, his hand touching and chipping the almost surely natural crack in the ceiling caused by the weight of the stone castle atop this foundation. ” That being said, something about this place still has me intrigued, like a sense that something was missed. ” Jonas continued, as Peter climbed back to the floor and Lena placed the reconstructed vase atop the pillar.
The steady drip of water collecting in the room echoed through the chamber, the sound changing as more water collected at the bottom of the vase. Jonas eyed the walls, sure they were missing something, his instinct telling him that among even what appeared to be perfectly hewn stone walls that somewhere there was a passage.
” There's something here, we have to find it. ” Jonas muttered as he clenched his hands, searching the walls.

There is a solution for finding the passage, hopefully I have given enough hints, if not I will simply move us along. Also, you were pretty spot on about the corpses! lol!

Peter looked over at Lena and shrugged, “The entire place is too caked in magic to get a reading on anything.” The rabbit mage's eyes went across the room as he considered what to do next. He usually liked to solve things in mundane ways if possible so he wasn't so relient on his magic. Moving to the middle of the room, Peter summoned powerful auras to both oh his heads, basking the room in a green glow, “If there's any magic in the walls, it might react to the aura.” Peter extended his arms out, palms facing out. Intense green light bathed part of the walls. Spinning in a slow circle, Peter lit up each part of the wall in turn hoping the two strong auras would cause any magic to react in some way.

The vase was starting to full to the brim. Suddenly, this triggered a thought in Lena's mind. “The water has been trickling down ever since we came in here, and it's probably been doing so for quite some time before that.” She turned around to see where the water was coming from and then removed the full vase from the pedestal, allowing the water to hit the pedestal and begin to trickle down to the ground. “Why isn't the room filling up with water? It has to be escaping somewhere. All we need to do is follow the flow of the water and hopefully it will lead us to an exit.” It was the only thing she could think of.

” The water, of course. ” Jonas said aloud as Lena's comments spurred thought.
Jonas calmed himself, moving away from the walls which Peter was now searching even more closely, using his aura to illuminate and seek minor details he may have missed. Jonas returned to the pedestal, for a moment gazing at the vase which was now collecting a steady drip of water, slowly filling. He turned his gaze towards the pillar itself and then to the floor. His reached down, placing his hand at the base of the pedestal, feeling the moister of where the steady drip of what had ran for who knows how long. Jonas moved hunched over, following the small stream until it seemed to dry near the left wall.
” The water runs this way, but there isn't enough to reach the wall itself. ” Jonas said, motioning for one of the others to dump the vase.
Turning back towards the wall Jonas placed his damp hand against the cool hewn stone. The moister reacted with the stone turning it from a light grey to a darker hue. Fine details in the stone seemed to pop.
” Wait, look. Peter bring your aura here. ” Jonas spoke as he examined the wall near where the water's escape path had dried, where the edge of a shallow carving had been revealed from the moister of his hand print.

Glancing over at Jonas, the rabbit mage turned towards him and flashed his two auras on the area to give the best possible look under the circumstances. Glancing over at Lena, Peter smiled and winked, “Good thinking, wiz kid.” Peter kept the two auras on the wall for a few seconds to let Jonas have a good look then turned one off, keeping the other on the area.

The hand that no longer had a green began to have a light blue glow. Peter concentrated to make the magic weaker, something he wasn't use to. The air in front of Peter's hand began to form into an icicle. Before it could drop to the ground, Peter snatched it with his free hand and walked to the part of the wall Jonas was at. He began rubbing the melting icicle against a different part of the same segment Jonas was touching,
“Hopefully, it's not the water specifically that causes it. Waiting for that little drip would slow us down.”

“So it is the water. The water will show us the way.” Lena could see what Peter was doing but was not sure it would work quick enough. Jonas motioned to the vase and Lena thought she knew what he was thinking. She picked it up with both hands and went over to Jonas and Peter. “Stand back.” She gave them chance to move out of the way before throwing the contents of the water against the off coloured wall where Jonas's handprint had appeared.

Paranormal Activity
The water splashed across the pale hewn stone instantly revealing a intricate diagram of the room, passage, and secondary room which they had come from. The diagram pointed back towards the corridor, exactly in the middle along the north wall, picturing a man pressing his full weight against the stone, causing it to slide back revealing the exit to the treasure rooms.

On we go!

Jonas looked upon the wall diagram for a moment, aided by the light of Peter's aura which greatly helped illuminate the pictures. He turned to Lena, with a smile, before taking a few steps back towards the pedestal.
” Alright, so let's go find this passage out of here. ” Jonas said as he retrieved the two iron blades which he had placed next to the pedestal before exiting the room into the corridor in which the passage should be located.
” It seemed to be somewhere in the middle along this north wall. ” Jonas said as he started to press against the wall as he reached what he felt was the middle of the corridor. ” Let's get some light of ever. ” He continued as he moved up the wall, pressing every foot or so as he walked.
Suddenly the wall gave, the sound of stone sliding against stone echoing through the corridor as the wall pushed back roughly two feet revealing a L shaped passage that first moved to the left and the turned to the right heading north.
” After you. ” Jonas said to the others.

Releasing the aura in one hand and the icicle from the other which dissolved as it left his hand, Peter stood and smiled at Lena, “Guess we had enough.” Peter stood and continued behind Jonas to the hidden passage. The door swung easily, good craftsmanship. Peter wondered what he had been hidding here to need work like this.

Peter patted Jonas on the shoulder as he walked by,
“Why aren't you the gentleman.” Smiling, Peter ignited an aura on his right hand to light the passage.

The large, stone panel slid to one side, revealing an exit. Lena's eyes widened as her heart began to race. They had managed to find the hidden door. “This is so exciting.” Lena muttered under her breath, mixed feelings of anxiety, excitment and dread merging into one. She pulled up her hand made flashlight and added some extra light to the aura that Peter provided and headed on through after him. She passed the beam of light across the corridor and could see it lead in only one direction. “I guess we have to go this way.”

Paranormal Activity
The soft green light emitted by the aura lit the short chamber, which ended some ten feet after beginning, opening into a small room roughly ten feet by teen feet. The room held faded tapestries upon the walls showing scenes of medieval combat, fighters atop horses slaying fiends. Scattered about the room were several chests made of what appeared to be a strong hard wood re-enforced with iron. Across the from passages opening dark stairs led up. A cool air penetrated this place, rolling down the stairs in waves from the unknown above. A faint moan drifted along this wave of cool air.

Jonas is entering behind you two, so go ahead and post before me.

Peter walked slowly through the hidden corridor, using his aura to light the way. His adventure in the haunted manor had seemed far easier than he had originally thought. He spent years thinking about travelling here, but always put it off so he could keep the castle safe. If he knew it would be this easy, he would have gone sooner.

Peter's blood seemed to freeze for a moment as the cold air swept over him and he regretted his words. It wasn't the cold air that caused the chill, but the moan that came with it. If he was anywhere else, he would think someone was hurt, but he was here. They were most likely already dead. Steeling his nerves, Peter continued looked behind him and put his finger to his mouth to signify silence. He wanted to have the upper hand on the likely undead. Moving quickly, Peter began to check the chests to see if any were open. It gave whatever was making the moans more of a chance to find them, but they were here for this.

The cold air sent a chill down her spine, forcing her to wrap the sides of her cape across the front of her body. ”It sure is cold down here.” She watched as Peter tried to open several of the chests and then decided to take the chests on the other side and attempt to open those as well. “Did you find anything in yours?” She called over to Peter as she checked the last one.
The moan that followed was an eerie sound that Lena imagined was just the wind.

Jonas entered the room behind the others, the green hue from Peter's aura causing the smaller room to take on it's color. Jonas scanned the room, taking note of the tapestries, finding their subject matter fitting for a place like the Hero's Castle. Turning his attention downward he moved behind the others towards the closest chest in reach and unlatched the rusted iron hinge which had  held the chest closed for many years.
” I hope there's something good in these chests. ” Jonas said before opening the box in front of him, his tone suggestive of the disappointment with what was surely the main treasure chamber.
Jonas lifted the heavy lid of his chest, and through the dimness looked down at the shimmer of coins which lay before him. Jonas's eyes perked, his jaw slowly opening.
” The.. There has to be a thousand gold coins in here. ” Jonas said as he reached his hands into the chest, the cool coins coming in contact with his skin. As he moved his hands the cool air drifted over him and sent a chill through his body. He was ready to leave.

Lena could not believe her eyes. They opened up the chest and inside each were a plethora of gold coins. “You're right. There must be at least a thousand gold in this one, too.” She looked around and then at Jonas and Peter. “Three chests and three of us. I guess we should just take the contens of each chest for ourselves.” She began handling the money and placing it into her satchel. By the time she had finished her bag was almost full. “Better get back to the village. I need a new crossbow and clothing!” Lena smiled, showing her teeth as she winked and then shut the chest. Now they just had to head back the way they came and get out of the scary mansion before something else came along. “We had better move fast!” She moved back over to the entrance they had came in through, shining her torch quickly around the rest of the room. There was nothing of any particular interest left so now they just needed to get out.
