Please tell me that I'm not the only one watching/reading this Japanese badassery?

I've watched the first season and am up to date on the manga. It's awesome, but the writer isn't very good. The big reveal for the manga was awefully executed, but besides that still interesting.

Griff has been talking this up for awhile, I know it's on Netflix and if I ever get time I'll likely watch it. What's the story about anyway?

All humanity is trapped behind 3 sets of walls in a pretty large circle. For about the last 100 years, humans have been safe behind the walls from titans, giant humanoid creatures that run around naked, but with no genitalia, and eat people. They have minimum intelligence and are pretty funny to see. After 100 years, now, two strange titans come up. One colossal titan, tall enough to see over the wall, and an armored titan destroy the outer wall where the main character lives. All humanity is put further back to the middle wall greatly reducing their area. It's not public knowledge where the titans come from, it still hasn't been revealed entirely, but one part of the military called the scout legion take trips outside the wall to gain knowledge about them. That's the main side that is followed where the character's are. I don't wanna go too much into detail, but there's a lot of mystery about what's going on. It's wicked cool, even though the author failed the reveal the big twist that well.

Heh, it's what my avatar is from. And first of all: don't google it or look at youtube comments! People like to spoil stuff lol.

Just check out this trailer from Funimation. Gives a nice feel for the first part of the first season with no spoilers.

The simplest explanation is that it's a story about humanity's struggle for survival against colossal humanoid creatures known as Titans. The Titans are basically mindless, and insatiably attack and devour any human they see. There are Titans that are different from the others, called “variants”, and those are a big part of the story as it unfolds.

Oh, and the music in the show is amazing. Nothing like the trailer music; very very epic.

I watched the first two episodes yesterday, jury is out on how I feel about it still. I wasn't to fond of the animation stype (I really don't like it when they bring heavy CG into anime, it just looks wrong to me; This is probably why I don't like much newer anime.)

I'd say at least watch episodes 3-8 before stopping. A pretty big plot point gets revealed at 8 that sets up the main focus rest of the first season.

I think I'm on episode 10 or so. I'll likely finish the season and see how I care for how it progresses. So far not a lot makes any sense.

Are you watching it in Japanese, or the dub? Just curious, both are good.

I'm watching the sub on Netflix, from what I read the 1st season dub isn't fully finished yet. Plus I didn't feel like downloading it if I didn't have to.

I finished the first season last night, it moves kinda slow. It also seems to me that a society with enough technological prowess to develop the 3D moving devices could probably develop an airplane which would completely break the narrative, lol.
