This is a tough one for me, as most of the games I have played this year all came out before this year. So I'm not going to give a Game of the Year, but I did enjoy the following games that I played from this year:
Kingdom of Amalur: Reckoning: It's a real shame that Big Huge Studios is gone now. The story of this game was just amazing and the game was just flat-out fun.
Mass Effect 3
FIFA 2013
Madden 2013
NCAA 2013

I'd have to say either Borderlands 2 or Halo 4. Borderlands 2 was just great. With its diverse class and endless amounts of loot its hard to get bored with it. Halo 4 brought back some of my love for the Halo series so gotta give them a shoutout.

I didn't really play many games from 2012 either, honestly not much was released that I would ever play. I have been playing The Walking Dead game(s) though, they are pretty solid.

It's an amazing experience. It's the only game I've ever played where I didn't speak a word to the person playing with me, only speaking through character movement and the little “call” you can do in game, and I had an attatchment for them by the end of the game.
It's really best enjoyed if you can sit down and play the entire game in one sitting. IIRC it took about two hours, maybe less than that. Buy boy was it fantastic.
Also be sure to use a good HDTV. The setting/graphics/etc get amazing later in the game.

Sounds kinda like Ico (which I loved so much). Ico is pretty short too, I finished it in under 5 hours but it was one of the best experiences ever. SotC is a little longer, bout 10 hours or so and is right there with it. I'll have to give it a play soon.

I bought the PS3 HD Collection of them both. Only played a little bit of Ico so far. Was pretty good.

The HD collection is so amazing. I'd have to say Ico is my favorite of the two but SotC is not far behind. I've been planning on buying the HD collection myself, I saw it new for $20 now so I might pick it up. All the HD collections I've played have been really great. I'm in love with the MGS collection as well, if only they had managed to get the Twin Snakes on there (I'm fine without it though, since I actually paid for a copy of that lol)
