Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic: I am just a huge Star Wars fan and my favorite genre happens to be turn-based RPGs. This fits that bill nicely :)

Of all time. Easily Super Mario Bros. 3.
It's been my favorite game since the day I first played it in like 1990. I have a lot of other games I love, but this will always be the one I love most.

Well, it was the Mass Effect trilogy until I beat the third … not even going to rant about that. Just sadface.

However, as of now, I'd probably have to roll with a game that has a lot of good memories associated with it and is still great fun to play. A bit of a common choice in discussions like this I'd say, but I don't care. Final Fantasy 7.

For online games (since I feel they're a dfferent category), I'd say Diablo 2, just because of the sheer number of hours I spent playing that game online with irl friends. Was a blast.

I just started Mass Effect a couple nights ago, I'm about 2 hours in right now. So far, I'm on board though I'm not gung ho yet. FF7 is pretty close to the top of my list too, I've been through it so many times, honestly it's about time for another play through lol, it's been about 2 years.

Legend of Dragoon. I know dys has heard me talk about this game enough, but I just love it. I'm not sure if its just a childhood love, my utter fascination with dragons, or what, but I know its probably one of the worser games made by Square Enix. Mass Effect is a good series, but I couldn't quite get into 3 like I could 2 and 1 so I never finished it. I personally think FF7 is overhyped. Don't get me wrong, its a great game, but I just don't think it should be where people put it. I personally prefer 8 and 9. I think it was the final boss fight that really did it for me with 7. It takes no more than 4 actions to beat both forms of Sephiroth combined.

Mass Effect is a slow starting game, just keep that in mind while you play it. Until you get off the Citadel for the first time that is. Also, when you first become a Spectre, it is an awesome feeling.

Also, the next two games in the series makes the combat a lot more fun, while still keeping the core story and rpg mechanics of the original.

Lol griff, Square didn't make LoD. That's a Sony published game.

Lmao. I've been going around for years thinking LoD was square. Apparently I'm not the only one cause I googled if it was made by them and plenty of links mention square. They apparently cancelled LoD 2 last year…makes me really sad :( . It seems like if your a fan of LoD you love it, but if your not a fan you hate it or haven't heard of it. Doesn't seem to be much middle ground for this game.

Square has never had anything to do with LoD or the canceled sequel lol. Sony owns that IP and they developed it in house.

Oh no, I know now that Sony did LoD, but I'm not the only person who thought square did it was all I'm saying. I think it was suppose to be a prequel. I would have loved to seen it during the Dragon Campaign with Rose and the rest of the first dragoons.

Sucks that they canned the sequel. I can see why they did that though, It's been over 10 years since the release of LoD and I don't imagine the IP has a lot of power these days, they probably won't have sold a lot of copies lol.

As for Mass Effect, I'm like 3 hours in now, so far still keeping me entertained enough. Combat isn't exactly wowing me right now, we'll see how that goes.

Definitely the worst combat of the series is in Mass Effect. Gets much better in the sequels.

That's good, It's been pretty unimpressive so far. So many games follow that same cover based TPS kind of combat, and Mass Effect really hasn't exicuted the was say, Uncharted does.

Honestly, Mass Effect's combat is so inferior to the sequels that I have a hard time going back and playing the first because of that.

Just press through it, though. The story and the rest of the game more than makes of for it, and you'll be rewarded with amazing sequels.

I'm a huge Sci-Fi nerd and love RPGs, though, so Mass Effect is pretty the epitome of a videogame for me.

I hate the vehicle parts, that seems just thrown in there as a change of pace and it's poorly done if you ask me.

Yeah, that's why the Mako was scrapped in future games. Laugh

Thank god lol, at least now I know if I decide to play any of the sequels that I won't have to go through that torture in them. Seriously, what the hell is with those sections? It would work so much easier if it was just on rails or something.

I loved the Mako! Then again, I'm a completionist, so I explored every planet and found all the minerals/gases and all the other things that you can find (medallions and so on).

It takes two playthroughs if you're smart to get the max level, three if you don't do a completionist style playthrough. However, getting max level is not needed to enjoy the next game in the series.

Multiple playthroughs are more important in Mass Effect 2 than they are in Mass Effect 1 and 3, honestly.

There will be no multiple playthroughs, lol. I simply don't have the time to do that, It'll take me a month to complete this game. And since it appears to be on the longer side, chances are it will be awhile after I complete it before I even think about playing 2. I like to stagger my games Long Game > A couple short games > Long Game, so on. That way I can actually complete a decent amount of games with the limited time I can put in.
