Case One: Demons Abound

Botan rose off the group several feet before addressing Koichi's concern. A smile emerged on her face like a mother explaining something to her child for the fifth time,
“That's right. I don't have a user's manual, but you got the creator right there.” Botan pointed towards Ichii, “Just follow it to target, find the boss, and stop them. Easy first case.” Botan's pitch rose as she finished her last sentence and flew off into the sky, leaving the duo behind.

Ichii smiled from ear to ear with Botan's reference to him being the creator, but more so that he knew she would be leaving soon. Ichii waved towards Botan as she took off and once out of sight his shoulders sagged and he released a big sigh of relief.
“Glad that's over.” Ichii made his way over towards Koichi, “You know you can trust my creations, right?” Ichii looked at the compass and began to move around Koichi. A small segment of light moved around the edge of the watch following Ichii's movement, “That outside light is linked to me. It's my check to see if it's working.” Iichi turned and headed towards the exit to the alley and stopped before looking back to Koichi, “We can follow it or walk around aimless. Your call.” Ichii shrugged.

Koichi watched as Botan's oar lifted back to a hover above them, and to him she seemed to suggest that if he had any problems with the compass he could take it up with you know who. He took in a let out a deep breath, sensing that he would have to go through with this one way or another and getting out of it seemed pretty much hopeless at this point. Koichi shifted his gaze to Ichii and watched him closely as Botan left, noting again how odd he acted around the woman, trying to figure out what was going on between them.
” Trust you, shit I don't trust anyone but myself—But it looks like I'm stuck with you for now so I guess we better ge moving. ” Koichi replied as he looked down at the compass and followed Ichii's lead as he started to exit the alley, sensing that things would probably get more chaotic before they resolved and wondering if he had indeed made the right choice to enlist himself in this campaign rather than just accepting his fate and staying dead.

Ichii turned back to Koichi and stiffened his face, doing his best impression of Koichi,
“I don't trust anyone but myself.” Ichii relaxed his face shook his head, looking down at the ground, “Gonna be pretty hard to work as a team if you don't have the confi–” Ichii was stopped short in his mumblings due to the sharp sound of glass breaking, “I trust you heard that.” Ichii smirked towards Koichi and began running out of the alley and down the street towards the sound.

The street out of the alley contained high walls of each side with houses on the other. While larger than the alley, the residential street was silent except for the two of them. The sun was just reaching its zenith leaving little shadow to be seen. Ichii stopped at a T intersection with the road splitting to the left and continuing forward. Down the left turn, Two men wearing black three-piece suits with white shirts and black ties stood in front of what appeared to be a small business. The shorter of the two would appear familiar to Koichi. Trash laid litered on the ground in front of the shattered window. A small elderly man wearing an apron stood in front of them, his back bent forward from age, looked defiantly up towards the two men.
“I much rather pay for that window than protection from you.” The taller of the two men in suits clenched his fist in anger. Ichii jaw clenched in anger as he caught the sight of two small horns on the top of the taller man's head, “Demon.” Ichii looked back towards Koichi and saw the compass pointed for them to proceed forward, “We need to stop them. The taller one's been taken over by a demon!”

Ichii's words seemed to strike Koichi in a way he was trying to feel out when the sound of breaking glass pulled him from his thoughts. Ichii moved quickly, and sensing that whatever it is they were here to do was underway, Koichi followed. The sun overhead beat down on Koichi as he picked up the pace to catch up with the person Botan had paired him with, ahead he had stopped at an intersection. Koichi slowed his pace to as top when he reached his ally and turned to his left to look down the street at the scene that was unfolding. He instantly knew what was happening, Yakuza putting pressure on a small business to pay the protection fee. He had been in this same situation many times before.
” I know that guy. ” Koichi suddenly said aloud as he realized that one of the two men were familiar. The other however, who stood many inches taller, was not someone he remembered from his time in the Yakuza.
Koichi stood in the middle of the street, the compass that had been thrust upon him held tightly in his hand when Ichii exclaimed that the taller of the two men was in fact a demon. For a moment he doubted this but something about the sense of urgency that Ichii was showing convinced him that something was indeed off about this situation. Simply nodding in response Koichi began to step forward towards the elder shop owner and two Yakuza, trying to find his footing and wondering where this situation would take him.

Ichii smiled towards Koichi at his response of being willing to help someone not associated with their mission. He turned the corner along side Koichi with a genuine smile waved towards the group of three,
“Hey, did you guys hear that loud bang?” While he spoke, a white bandage ran itself out the back of his messenger bag and moved it's way up the back of Ichii's shirt until he had disappeared under the garment. Ichii looked with shock towards the window and the trash littered before it, “Oh jeez, the winds pretty bad this time of the year, huh? Old man, why don't you head back inside and make sure that your store is alright?” In a slow, deliberate, and not so subtle way, Ichii winked at the store owner.

The taller of the two Yakuza stepped forward. His two horns and pronounced canines more obviously showing his demonic attributes as he faced the two newcomes. His fist clenched as the shorter man grabbed his clenched fist, recognizing Koichi,
“It's alright, Hideki.” The shorter one said as he moved towards Koichi, “Koichi, it's been a while. Few years now, huh? Seems like your friend here is lost. Why don't you help him find his way?” Ren, the shorter Yakuza, motioned his head towards Ichii trying to give them a chance to ignore the situation. The shop owner, noticing the attention was taken off of him, quietly slipped away into the shop and disappeared from sight, unnoticed.

Koichi stood with both hands in the pockets of his slacks as Ichii began to talk, drawing the attention of the two gangsters, and for once it seemed like the one he had been paired with might actually be good for something. Koichi continued to stand with the sun beating down on them from overhead as the taller unfamiliar man followed by Ren turned their attention squarely to them. It was clear how this situation was going to play out, but it seemed at least worth trying to talk their way out of any conflict if they could.
” It's been awhile hasn't it Ren? ” Koichi broke his silence, talking calmly as if they were friends. ” Seems like you have a new partner, maybe we should all just go our separate ways? It's a damn fine day after all. ” Koichi continued, trying to read the others, feeling his back start to tense, ready to strike if he had too, hoping that he could at least draw them closer first.
