In an effort to help increase activity in general across the forums, I'm going to start some discussions. However, I don't watch a lot of anime nor read a lot of manga, so here is pretty much the only topic I can do in this section.

Dragon Ball is the story of the young Saiyan Kakarot who landed upon Earth to destroy the population when he came of age. Of course, due to an unfortunate (or fortunate) fall on his head, he forgot his identity and mission. Therefore he grew up to be a savior to the people collecting Dragon Balls, destroying the Red Ribbon Army and even facing the evil King Piccolo. Dragon Ball focused more on humor than action.

Dragon Ball Z is the story of Kakarot now fully grown into an adult as he continues to defend the Earth from a multitude of different enemies. Now with even more allies, Goku helps defend against a group of Saiyans, mostly destroys Frieza, kills some Androids and some gooey guy named Buu who takes a multitude of different forms. Dragon Ball Z focused more on the action, though it still contained some humor.

Given a brief synopsis of the series, what are your favorite memories of the show and which one do you prefer?

About 10 months ago I wanted all of DragonBall and most of DBZ in about 6 weeks. lmfao. We all love DB.

Damn. That's a short period to watch all of it. I do that every once in awhile. I just get OCD and try to take notes during it to keep track of locations, character appearances, items, etc to eventually make an RPG that is pretty accurate. Of course, we all know how they went :p.

That's when I first moved into my new apartment. I had no cable, no netflix, and for the first 10-14 days no internet. So yeah I watched a lot of DB/Z

Interesting since I just watched all of Dragonball and DBZ (Android Saga to the end) in the past few weeks myself. Android/Cell Saga has to be the most memorable for me throughout DBZ as everything had gotten grave and suspenseful thenon. Yeah…

The most memorable moment for me in the Dragon Ball Z series would have to be Goku's transformation to Super Saiyan for the first time all the way through the entire battle with Frieza. After that it would have to be the final battle between Gohan and Cell.

Overall though, I much prefer Dragon Ball to Dragon Ball Z.

Goku ascending to the third level is probably my single favorite moment. I didn't think it would replace the initial transformation against Frieza, but it did.

GT is often foregone, but (assuming you watched it anyway) what are your thoughts?

Personally I've always been in love with the Namek/Frieza Saga more than any of the others, just the entire thing. I like Trunks/Android/Cell as well but I never was to fond of the World Tournament Saga onwards. That's where I usually stop watching.

I hated the Super Saiyan 3 transformation to be honest. Given all the information we had up until Goku's first transformation, there was only suppose to be one Super Saiyan, and then all of a sudden every can transform and go past Super Saiyan, really made Super Saiyan not so special to me.

As for GT, I have honestly only seen a few episodes. One day I'll try it out, but it's hard to, knowing Akira didn't write the story.

Yeah I don't like the SSJ2-4 trans either, it really ruined everything that had been built up. But you have to remember DBZ was suppose to end after the Frieza Saga, with Goku dieing.

I've been thinking about giving GT a watch recently. I'm not fond of it, but it's been so long since I saw any of it that maybe I'll make it through all 64 episodes. Probably won't though, very much unlike DB/DBZ which I can put in and watch at in time and be into it to this day.

I wasn't even aware there was a new movie. Like Fevian though, around here it's unlikely to find that in the theaters.

Surprisingly they're actually screening it not to far from here. However I assume it's been out in Japan forever, I could just DL it.
