As a kid, I would see this anime on adult swim from time and time and I never caught it enough so it became like a legend to me since I only caught bits and pieces. I recently watched and finished it and was very disappointed by the ending. Anyone have any idea what happened? End of one episode they're about to battle skeith, then a recap episode, then a celebration along with characters in the .hack games. It just didn't make sense. Either way I still love the series, just started replaying infection and may do GU over again after. One thing it had going was it has the best jibberish theme song I have ever heard. Anyone else watch this series?

I saw the first 8 episodes and became increasingly bored with it so I never finished it. Probably never will lol.

As did I, though i did enjoy the games. Still though its like life its what happens in some MMORPG. Two people like each other through character but marry but doesn't mean outside that game they would. .hack//gu is what i'm talking about. But .hack/sign was somewhat interesting at first but then it was like wait…this guy is a bug or has a bug or was coded a bug. I thought about designing a .hack RPG but then was like either too much work…or not enough time.

Heres the reason why a .hack site, also why the mmo, won't work. The interesting part of .hack is something that really can't be allowed. Data drain and epitaphs are awesome, but how you gonna give some members basically an instakill ability? If you take that out, well theres no real story to .hack. If I finish the first series of games and the rest of the anime series, it will probably make sense, but the first anime by itself makes no sense. Skeith goes to Helba's little area then she does something, a recap episode, a flash back, you see kite orca and balmung taking out bugs, you meet some of the ps2 series character (Mad they didn't have Piros), then no more mention of the omnipotent voice or Aura. They must have been forced to end the series with just 28 episodes, but they wasted one on a stupid recap and an irrelevent flashback.

You could give members that kind of ability in a controlled setting like a DM'd RP where the DM in turn takes charge of the character with that power to push the narrative.
