Ahhh, that sucks. I'll just say that when you play Mass Effect 2, be sure to do EVERYTHING before you do the last thing to beat the game, otherwise you'll have party members permenantly die and be unavailable in ME3.

People usually need a second playthrough to get everyone through it alive, but as long as you know ahead of time that you need to do pretty much everything to accomplish that, you should be okay. Just don't rush.

If they die, they die. Lol. I'm not to worried about losing party members as I assume there is some kind of replacement for them.

Let's see, gonna list them more for my own reference than anything else.

Mass Effect 1:
Garrus Vakarian
Tali Zorah

Liara T'Soni
Urdnot Wrex
Ashley Williams OR  Kaiden Alenko

Mass Effect 2:
Garrus Vakarian
Tali Zorah

Miranda Lawson
Jacob Taylor
Jack
Thane Krios
Samara OR Morinth
Legion
Grunt
Mordin Solus

Zaeed Masoni (DLC)
Kasumi Groto (DLC)

Mass Effect 3:
Garrus Vakarian
Tali Zorah

Liara T'Soni
Ashley Williams OR Kaiden Alenko
EDI
James Vega

Javik (DLC)

Yeah, now that I look at it, you're given replacements in ME3, since the only people that you'll lose from your playable squad will be Garrus and Tali if you let them die (IMO the two best characters in the game outside of Wrex, so you better not you fucker! Wink)

All the other characters play pretty big parts throughout ME3, though. From what I understand they get generic replacements if you let them die in ME2. Not game breaking by any means, but it's awesome to see these familiar characters in sequels.

There are no generic characters in Mass Effect 3. Also, you cannot transfer a save file where everyone dies, as Bioware considers that a gameover. Also, everyone doesn't die unless you purposely try to do that.

I'm just not going to fret over it if it happens. I've yet to really care about any of the characters what so ever, lol.

You're doing it wrong, Dys! :P Mass Effect is the only videogame ever to make me shed man tears.

And yeah, there are “generic” characters. I call them generic because they're not nearly on the level of the party members that would be there and they're truly just placeholders for dead people.

Mordin is replaced by the head of the research station, which Joker calls “Not Mordin” lol. Legion is replaced with a generic “Geth AI”. Grunt is replaced by Urdnot Dagg, Jack is replaced by a student, Ensign Prangley. Tali with a generic Admiral. Miranda is gone and you just get an e-mail rather than any content with her actually there. Kasumi is straight up cut out of the game along with Samara and Thane so you don't get that content at all (the Thane content is good).

lmfao, I'm not going to try to kill them off, but I'm going to make the choices I make and if that results in half of them dying, so be it!

Oh, and what happened to the guy at CPN that named himself after Lightning, and was always posting info about FF13?

HOW'S HE FEEL NOW THAT IT'S THE WORST FINAL FANTASY OF ALL TIME AND FOR ALL INTENTS AND PURPOSES HAS DESTROYED THE SERIES' REPUTATION.

Seriously, two sequels to a horrible game Universe? What the fuck Square.

Yeah that sounds about right. XIII is near the bottom of my list for sure, that was a real blunder. FF hasn't been right in a decade though, so I mean that's what you expect. FFVII and FFVIII are right near the top of my all time list though, top 5 for sure. I miss when FFs were great, I remember when VIII came out and I was just like, in awe of it. Even IX which I know many people consider their favorite (I think it's somewhere around 6-7th for me) was a great experience, the kind where you start playing at like 8pm and you get up to use the bathroom and realize it's 7am and daylight outside and you're like “shit?”

Oh I still remember FF8 when I first saw it. I must have been 8 or 9 and I remember Squall running around Timber, more specificly the rail roads. That was my first introduction to JRPGs and I've been in love since. FF13 was definitely a let down and thanks to dys I know why FF fell off after 9. I personally loved the FF: Spirits Within movie, its easily in my top 10 for movies. I think the reason they did sequels is because they pumped it up some much with the appearance of 6 total games in the series.I'm really excited for the FF10 remake. Does anyone know if it will include the extended sphere grid system? I'm looking forward to Ni no Kuni, has anyone read any reviews about the game, but are there any other promising JRPGs coming out for ps3 or 360, or more specificly any that could possibly fill the void of FF?

I actually enjoyed Final Fantasy X. The voice acting wasn't the best, but the storyline was pretty good and I love the Sphere Grid and combat.

Final Fantasy IX is still my favorite, but that's moreso becuse of the characters.

I was even pumped for FFX, I bought my PS2 and was going to buy it as well but I couldn't find a copy that day (it had just come out that week). I had to rent a copy for the weekend (I put in 27 hours in 3 days…) and went out and bought a copy that Monday. That being said, it is not one of my favorite FFs. My hype for FF died not long after that, I was still hyped enough to go buy DQ8 just to get my hands on the demo for FFXII, but I ended up loving DQ8 so much more than any of the FFs last gen.

Oh and Ni No Kuni is going to be the shit. I've been hyped about that game for over a year now.

I can't stand X and IV, they're just god damn boring. And yeah, Ni no Kuni looks interesting.

That was me posting the info for XIII. If I haven't played a game before, I'm not going to pass judgment on it of course. It's unfortunate how it turned out, the game was just awful (Toriyama is a hack as well).

They just don't make RPGs like they use too. It's funny how Square was still making great games on the PSP though, but their console games were just getting worse and worse. Dissidia was amazing, and Crisis Core was actually pretty damn good, and I was against it from the start. However I did not like KH: Birth By Sleep, that being said I didn't like KH2 either.. so.

KH2 was awesome. I'm waiting for a KH bundle to come on the PSN. FFX was good, it actually has my favorite battle system. I'm a big fan of summoning and loved how the summons didn't just come do one attack then leave. They actually became party members you could use. FFIX had the hardest final boss battle I've ever played. Mainly because you need to get the abilities to block status effects because he throws everything at you. All this talk about FF makes me want to go back and play some of the old ones. Any suggestions on which FF, between 1-6, to play.

I enjoyed Dissidia (and Dissidia 012), didn't find CC's battle system interesting at all, and only cared for Command Styles from Birth by Sleep. KHII is ridiculous now that I'm thinking about it (and Versus XIII just seems to be an instant paste of KHII's system with men donned in black).

There's a reason why XII (IZJS), V, and VI are top 3 for me: the replayability is outstanding in each of these games.

If you're going to play a FF between 1-6 the #1 suggestion would be FF6, as it is probably the best of all the FFs (and in my top 3, though not my fav, I recognize it is a better game in most cases than VII and VIII). Also Regardless of what Andy says, FFIV is an amazing game and would be my second suggestion.

As for the talk about KHs.
I loved KH, aside from the horrific camera control. KH2 just took that story and made it so convoluted and ridiculous that it pretty much ruined the franchise for me. Half that shit doesn't make any sense at all. Also the dialog is SO bad, and the boss battles lack all the amazement and fun of KH's. The camera was fixed though… Birth By Sleep I just couldn't get into from the start, I never got more than 3 hours in.

I love the Kingdom Hearts franchise, however, they definitely did make the story very convoluted and confusing. I also hate how they have released exlusives to so many different consoles. It's very hard to be able to enjoy each game in the series unless you pirate them.

They butchered the story so much with KH2 that they completely lost me. I'll probably never really be into the franchise again, I'm very surprised there has never been a KH3, I mean I know they would have to spend a lot to make it, but it would sell pretty well I think, better than handheld titles do.

Star Ocean is another franchise that's gone into the wastebucket for me in the last two gens. (I really don't like SO4, and 3 wasn't very good for me either) I'm sure lydeck will have something to say about this! lol, I know he loves SO2.

There are really only 2 long standed RPG franchises I think have continued to hold up their ends. Dragon Quest has continued to bed a great franchise (not sure about where it's headed these days though). The other is the Ys franchise which has actually picked up in popularity recently, they released like 2 new games on the PSP and released just about every past one for it as well. the Ys I & II pack is especially great.
