As Tsuna walked into the hallway, his emotions began to turn back to normal. Bad timing with all the personal ShinRa stuff around. He took his swrd from inside his cane and put it the cane casing on his back loop. His urge to break all the pictures and scratch all the names of the plaques was fierce. Only the words of his comrades stopped his hand. Ultimately useless vandalism wasn't worth giving away their enemy any more information. Tsuna simply nodded and moved slowly towards the hallway.

  Chapter 4: Midgar Rising

Cloud's gaze was locked down the perpendicular intersecting hallway, in the direction of the stairs. He sensed something odd, but couldn't put his finger on in. As he looked on intently a low panting sound grew, reverberating down the hallway as the creature came into view. It was catlike, deep crimson in color, muscular with a long blade like appendage arcing back from his powerful looking shoulder blades. The creatures eyes glowed red, hate filled, it had spotted them. Before Cloud could react the second figure came from around the same corner in the distance, human-like but clearly not. The being wore crimson clothing, much like a SOLDIER uniform but different, it's face shielded by a helmet. In the crimson clad being's hands two curved blades gleamed in the flickering light.
” I don't like this. ” Cloud mumbled as the tension grew. He assumed they had thirty feet between them, nothing for a cat-like creature to close. The claustrophobic feeling of the hallways squeezed Cloud, it was not an ideal place to fight.
The cat-like beast launched itself forward, it's muscles rippling as it closed the distance between itself and Cloud. Cloud raised is blade and braced his body, taking a defensive stance and preparing for impact. It seemed like no time passed when the creature slammed into Cloud knocking him backwards with a massive body blow, but Cloud had managed to cut at the beast. In the distance the figure waited.

Just down the hallway from them emerged an almost cat-like beast. Once he caught sight of it he felt no small amount of relief. 'At least it's not…' he thought for a moment, only to cut it short as the second figure came into sight. At first glance it was almost human, yet at the same time it was clearly not. What was obvious though were the two curved blades, gleaming threateningly in the flickering light. “You'd think we'd be used to this kind of thing by now.” Raiden said dryly as he began to fiddle with his materia in preparation for the fight that was sure to come. It wasn't long before the first beast charged down the hall, closing the distance between itself and the group in an instant.

Once the beast's failed assault was driven off by Cloud, who had somehow managed to draw blood while successfully defending himself, Raiden moved forward in order to retaliate. “Out of the way,” he ordered the others coldly, electricity dancing along the edge of his katana. Once he was at the front of the group he unleashed a torrent of electricity from the weapon. It tore through the air, arcing in order to hit both of their opponents.

OOC: Sorry about the delay on the post, having some computer problems. Hopefully I'll have it fixed soon.

The appearance of the two figures was unsettling. Not because they appeared, but because of their appearance. Not even in Nibelheim did he face such odd creatures. Even so, it was not enough to cause a noticeable delay. “Where'd ShinRa get these guys?” His first step towards the cat-like creature was halted by Raiden's warning. His trust in his allies caused him to react instinctedly. The lightning that shortly followed showed he was right to trust him. Almost like the lightning itself, Tsuna followed right behind it, trying to jab his sword home in the beast.

  Chapter 4: Midgar Rising

Shadows danced along the hallway walls as Cloud stumbled backwards and Raiden took to the attack, his lightning spell dancing down the long corridor striking both the feline menace and the mysterious figure holding in the distance. The cal-like creature moved quickly, leaping backwards out of striking rang of the others, there simply wasn't enough room for all five of them to fight.
” It's too cramped, two of you are going to have to take support roles! ” Cloud shouted out, knowing that all five of the fighters were up to the task but at the same time making it clear that they would not have time to discuss this.
Cloud saw Tifa nod, pulling Barret back with here a few meters behind the action taking place. Before turning his attention back to the attackers he took a moment to gaze through the corridor as the figure in the distance, his uniform was very much like one of SOLDIER, but there was no way that thing was SOLDIER or even Human as far as Cloud could tell, as far as he could feel. With his mind made up Cloud rushed forward passing Tsuna and Raiden in the hall, the feline beast turning to meet him. Taking to a quick slide Cloud thrust his blade forward, the nine foot ceiling of the Shinra HQ too low for any real swipes of his blade. Friction brought Cloud to a stop, his blade lunged into the creature which whipped back in pain thrashing it's blade like appendage as it moved.
” Shit! ” Cloud moaned as the appendage cut him, sending a stream of warm crimson fluid down his left arm. ” That thing has a mean bite! ” He exclaimed as he scooted himself back, pulling himself back to his feet, all the while the bladed figure in the distance still watched.

For a time he merely stood by to observe the flow of battle; the others had their hands full dealing with the feline creature, which left the entity in the distance unattended. 'If it hasn't attacked yet it's more than just a beast,' he mused while idling. 'but there ain't no way it's human. I wonder if…'. At that thought he took a step forward, raising his left arm to his chest as he did so. “I'm going ahead,” he announced as one of the materia in his bangle began to emit a soft green light. In an instant the light intensified and his body was enveloped with a strange aura before both faded away. “distract the cat for me.” With those words he began to dash down the hallway, his pace bolstered by the haste spell he had just cast upon himself. Whatever the creature down the hall might be he intended to find out, even if it meant fighting on his own.

Tsuna watched at the cat-like creature jumped back from his strike. A quick glance behind and he saw that Avalance would play the support role in this battle. That was fine by Tsuna, he knew the capabilities of his allies and had nothing to worry about. Once righting himself from his failed attack, Tsuna watched as Raiden went into fight the creature that had not yet engaged. Experience had taught him to take down numbers not add, but he would trust Raiden and continue his attack on the feline. Tsuna charged after Cloud attempting stab as he did before as the beast possessed quite the agility.

  Chapter 4: Midgar Rising

Almost the instant after Cloud was cut he witnessed Raiden moving swiftly down the corridor and not a split second later Tsuna had engaged the feline-esque beast, stabbing it in the shoulder blade. The cat-like beast jumped back, it's glowing red eyes now looked intently on Tsuna, enraged.
” Tsuna! Guard! ” Cloud shouted as the creature vaulted forward, pushing with immense power off of it's massive back legs. The feline creature soared through the air, Cloud watching in almost slow motion as it happened. Pulling himself to his feet, using his uninjured right hand, Cloud heaved his mythril sword through the corridor and watched it bury itself into the hindquarters of the creature just as it bared it's fangs to strike Tsuna.
In the distance, seemingly far from the chaos of battle the crimson clad figure stepped back, giving himself more room as Raiden swiftly approached. Brandishing his dual short blades he took a defensive stance, blades ready to parry any strike, silent still. His movements were eerie, human-like, as if someone was trying to appear normal but clearly not exact, imperfect.

As he charged by the feline he caught a glimpse of Tsuna attempting to skewer the beast out of the corner of his eye. It wasn't his concern for now though, he had made his intentions clear. Judging by the abomination's defensive stance it had accepted his challenge too. “Clever little shit,” he murmured with a cold smile as the gap between them became ever shorter. Once he was was close his pace began to slow before coming to a complete stop. Raiden then assumed a fencing stance, his left arm (and weapon) pointed unusually low with his right arm hidden from view on the other side.

In an instant he darted to his opponent, performing a powerful one-handed vertical slice toward the ceiling. On its own this attack probably wouldn't have been enough, but it wasn't Raiden's intention to wound his opponent with that attack. That was solely meant to throw off his opponent's guard, to have him stagger before the punches really started to fly. In the blink of an eye he crouched low, his right arm now on the floor for his opponent to see. Inside of his bangle one of the materia shone brilliantly, and then suddenly faded away as a series of jagged spikes shot forth along the floor. “If you take me lightly you'll be nothin' more than an ugly stain soon, fucker.”

The glow of the eyes was enough to tell Tsuna he was the next target, but the warning didn't hurt. With speed gained by practice, Tsuna jumped back and raised his sword in front of his body. His blade clashed with the beast trying to keep him at bay. Tsuna locked eyes with the beast mumbling, “Who made you?”. A sudden force from behind the beast showed Tsuna that something must have hit him from behind. Undefended, the beast may be dead, but he wouldn't let his guard down. All the while he thought of how this beast would look in his collection, a sly smile crossing his face.

  Chapter 4: Midgar Rising

The mythril blade had hurt the feline-esque creature, slowing it's once blistering fast reactions. Cloud pulled himself along, the ache in his shoulder growing, grabbing the hilt of his blade and pulling it from the meat of the stunned creature. With his blade in hand he locked eyes with the injured creature, and then turned away gazing down the corridor to where Raiden and the unknown being had engaged.
” Put that thing down Tsuna, for your collection. ” Cloud said before he was silenced by a tremor that shook the entire floor of the building, sending powerful vibrations through the walls. The sound of glass breaking followed moments later, a picture of Rufus Shinra had fallen from the wall and now lay broken in the corridor.
Ahead the being showed quick movement, a clear instinct for fighting. It has taken damage from the earth spell but fast reflexes had minimized the effects and with laser like precision the human-like thing that gone on the offensive, flinging one of it's two blades across the distance between it and Raiden. Following the being waited for Raiden to move ready to swipe at him if he dodged the flying curved dagger.
” He..it's quick, really quick. We gotta help him. ” Cloud said to Tsuna as he started down the corridor, ignoring the pain in his shoulder as he ran, his mythril saber ready to strike.

“Damn!” Raiden snarled as the curved blade hurtled through the air at him, clearly meant to bait him into a trap. In one swift maneuver he ducked low, aware that he was playing into the creature's hands. Yet it hadn't left much choice in the matter, though he didn't intend to let it have its way. For now it was best to play it safe, so he pushed off away from the beast while loosening the strap that held the scabbard at his right hip. Following that he took hold of the wooden sheathe with his spare hand and brought it behind his katana, using it as a support to strengthen his guard. “Do your worst,” he taunted with a devious grin.

The smile that seemed at its limits grew even larger. This beast would be a great upgrade to the fang he had. Tsuna pushed the weakened beast back and sprung right into action, stabbing the beast with a quick thrust. The beast struggled for a bit, but once the blade was taken from it, the beast laid lifeless. Though his allies were fighting a strong monster, Tsuna couldn't help but savor the moment. He walked towards the target. Each step beathing new life into Tsuna. His left hand grabbed for the special green die stashed in his coat and placed it onto the beast's head, kneeling down to reach. The green light once again spread across the monster till it covered it, flared a quick blinding light, then moved back into the die. A tiny red light bounced around within the die, as if fighting it. Tsuna tilted his head, no beasts had done this before. Prehaps it is because of the beasts make up. He'd have to monitor the die closely.

Tsuna stared for a while till his mind snapped to. He could worry about the die later, but now his allies were in trouble. Putting his die into his coat, Tsuna joinned his allies, his blade into a defensive position,
“Sorry for the delay, but I believe it was well worth it. Have you found anything note worthy?” The last beast was far more interesting to Tsuna. This one seemed too humanoid to be absorbed into the die. He had never tried it on anything close too human and with that red light, it seemed too dangerous to absorb that one now.

Dys, since that feline seemed odd I added in a little disturbance. If you like, you can do some type of story thing with it. I got a few examples if you want to hear I'll tell you on skype, but I'm sure you can handle. if you choose. I'll do something different when I use the die again.

  Chapter 4: Midgar Rising

The heavy thud of Cloud's boots echoed through the corridor as he thrust his injured body towards the melee in the distance. As he drew close the human-like movements of the being struck Cloud as familiar, but he couldn't place it, a feeling lost in the haze of his mind. Knowing that his presence was known he barreled onward his shimmering saber refracting the chaotic flicker of light as he thrust forward.
” Now! ” Cloud shouted out to Raiden as his blade was parried, the human-like being twisting it's body to block Cloud's strike. With a thrust of force Cloud felt himself be thrown asunder, haphazardly crashing into the corridor wall, but and opening had been made and he knew Raiden would make it count.
” Just that whatever that thing is, it's evasive. ” Tifa responded to Tsuna's question, as she and Barret watched the melee unfold in the distance, some forty feet down the corridor.

Once Cloud was safely out of the way Raiden charged forward, thrusting his katana forward toward the monster's right thigh. If the attack was successful he would hopefully cripple the beast, making it harder for the monster to escape any further attacks. In quick succession he released a bolt of lightning as well, aimed directly at the creature's chest. If it somehow managed to survive this onslaught he wanted to make sure it came out incapable of maintaining the agility it had shown itself to be capable of.

Tsuna stood for a moment and watched his allies fight. The addition of the feline was still too much for him to process. He wanted time to think and study the die, but there wasn't. His brain snapped to as he thought of a way to hit the evasive enemy. His body began to build up with energy. A slight glow came over his body as he yelled out, “Down.” Tsuna released Beta from his body and his the creature was too distract to react. A wave of fire shot out from his body arcing all the way down the hallway. The attack may be dangerous, but shouldn't hurt his allies too much and would leave the enemy no where to run. A gamble for sure, but that was Tsuna is.

  Chapter 4: Midgar Rising

Cloud's crimson blood smeared along the corridor wall as his body slide down to the floor. Chaos was raging around him and the throbbing pain of his injury was surging through his body but he knew he had to move. Using all the strength he could muster Cloud launched himself down the perpendicular corridor, towards the stairwell which would lead them to higher floors. Cloud slid across the polished metallic floor as the arc of lightning was distributed through the air striking the now injured being. As Cloud turned to face the melee he heard Tsuna's call and instinctively curled up hoping to survive his friends massive attack.
” This is no place for a fight… ” Cloud muttered to himself as the flames tore through the hallway turning both ways as they reached the crossing corridors.
The flames licked Cloud's back but dissipated quickly. Uncovering Cloud turned to see the human-like creature fallen, it's body bloody and burnt. Sitting up, Cloud pulled himself to his feet and started towards the intersection where the creature lay, a cloud of dark smoke creating a haze. Surrounding the body the remnants of dark feathers were scattered about, most scorched and charred.
” Raiden, you okay? ” Cloud said, feeling a moment of worry in the pit of his stomach as he entered the dark smokey haze, feeling with his good arm for his friend, hoping that he was uninjured.

Mercilessly he continued to grin as his previous attacks were successful, and he prepared himself to finish the creature off. Just before he could do so he heard Tsuna call out from down the hallway, and every instinct in Raiden's body screamed at him to get out of the way. In an effort to escape the massive wave of flame he scrambled for the corridor on his right, but before he could the flames began to lick at him. They burned his right side and back; the pain was almost intense enough for him to stop moving then and there, but through sheer force of will he pushed himself to leap forward into the hallway to escape the brunt of the atack.

When he hit the floor it was his right side, and the intense pain was enough that his vision began to blur as he fought to stay conscious. Surely their enemy had been incinerated by the massive destructive force of that beta, but he knew better than to take chances. For what felt like an eternity he didn't dare move, for fear of aggravating the pain any further. Yet when Cloud called out for him Raiden cried out in response, hoping his friend might be able to help him. “Over here, damn it. I'm not okay.”

The resulting lack of energy caused Tsuna's body to slump slightly till he collected himself. The smoke made it hard to see, but he only heard noises coming from his allies, so hopefully his gamble worked. Tsuna moved in the direction of Raiden's voice, guessing his injury was due to him. Raiden's voice was enough to give Tsuna enough direction till he found him on the floor. Reaching into his pocket, Tsuna pulled out a potion and handed it to him and kept his hand out to help him out, “I got him, Cloud. Any sign of that thing?” If their enemy hadn't reacted in time, theres a good chance it's dead, but if he had this smoke would be a good cover.

  Chapter 4: Midgar Rising

Holstering his blade as he moved Cloud gripped the throbbing wound on his shoulder, the warm stickiness of his blood causing some alarm. Shifting slightly he released the wound causing the painful throb to return. His arm held out he felt through the smoke for Raiden he he heard call but the visibility was low, a few feet at best.
” Note for remembering Tsuna, Beta isn't great in tight spaces… ” Cloud spoke through the haze, a tinge of black humor in his usual bleak tone. ” I see you Raiden, can you walk? ” Cloud said as he neared Raiden, now within a few feet of his friend. Looking around it seemed as if the smoke was starting to drift and the tightness of the haze was lessening, another minute or two and visibility wouldn't be so bad.
Feeling for the corridor wall Cloud reached with his uninjured arm, the coolness of the metallic walls of this part of the hallway a minor enjoyment after the inferno that was Tsuna's attack. Leaning for a moment Cloud waited as the smoke dissipated, revealing the fully burnt corpse of the creature to charred to make out any significant features besides the unusual presence of the dark feathers, some charred some intact scattered about.
” I've seen this before. ” Cloud said as he saw Tsuna, Tifa, and Barret approaching from the intersecting corridor. Cloud felt the fog of his mind drift like the smoke that had filled the hall, rolling around his thoughts, his memories. He couldn't place the memory, but there was a feeling of dread connected with his, one which shown clearly on his face as he looked on.
