Deep within the forest of Kashyyyk, Ta'Mur swung through the branches of the trees alongside two Wookiees, Chebrywaroo and Ralkyshalo. He had gotten to know during his time on the planet. He respected them as warriors and they respected him in much the same way. He had even become an honorary member of their clan, he had done wonders for the jedi's relationship with them. Some said the fur made it easier to accept him. Landing in the clearing he was obviously more agile than his Wookiee counterparts. Moving to the the bottom of a tree Ta'Mur reached out and placed his hand upon a tree. He felt the slime upon it. They were close. The darker furred Wookiee, Chebrywaroo, called out to him with a growl.

"Okay. We'll all meet back here in 20 minutes... be careful friends." Ta'Mur responded. He wasn't convinced that splitting up was the best course of action when hunting the powerful Anakkona but he respected the wookiees' abilities as warriors and was not about to injure their pride. Without pride what does a male have? Nothing.

Each being climbed the trees once more and set off in their respective directions. The Wookiee Clan had been plagued by an Anakkona problem. This snake-like beast had been hunting and eating some of the local wookiee population and while the Jedi believed that death was not something to be concerned with... he couldn't simply stand by when his wookiee brothers suffered. It wasn't long before they had run into trouble.

The Jedi saw the beast in the clearing. While, he knew to never underestimate his opponent he believed in his own ability and felt that he would be able to kill the beast without putting his friends in danger. Hopping down he confronted the beast and after a long battle he finally put the beast to rest.

Kneeling down to the severed head he apologized, "I'm sorry. I know you were only doing what you needed to survive. You followed your instinct, but I had to protect my kin."

He bowed and then it hit him like a ton of bricks. His heart sunk to the pit of his stomach. A disturbance in the force... Chebrywaroo was dead. Ta'Mur came to the sudden realization that there was more than one beast in the forest. Moving quickly, he scaled the tree and flung himself through the branches. He still had a chance to prevent the death of another of his friends. Within minutes he arrived on the somber scene with Ralkyshalo standing over the fallen Anakkona. He had already begun cutting at the Anakkona's belly only to confirm what Ta'Mur already knew. Ta'Mur placed his hand on Ralkyshalo shoulder.

"There is no death... there is the Force." Ta'Mur said attempting to take control of the situation. Ralkyshalo let out a terribly sad-sounding cry. Ta'Mur himself was guilty of feeling sad... he believed the code... but he still believed in death.

 -Two days later-

Riding back to the temple on the back of a Kashyyk Bantha... he was physically and emotionally drained and in desperate need of meditation. His eyelids were baggy and his robes were ragged. When he arrived at the temple he dismounted the bantha gingerly. He smiled at the Jedi he saw. He was strong and a staple of the organization... he tried not to show he was hurting.

Hunting was by far her favorite thing to do, her weapon of choice was a bow. Kashyyyk had such a diverse animal population that it was always a challenge. They had their own livestock, but it wasn’t nearly as fun as bringing something down that was plenty more scary than the people filling it full of flying pointy twigs. Syn was standing with her hunting group when she noticed Ta’mur returning looking like something the cat dragged in. He looked like hell and she noticed he was looking a bit more tense than usual. She moved away from the group walking up to him and smiling up at him. As a student the tall feline humanoid used to intimidate her some, it wasn’t that he did it intentionally she supposed, but his sheer size and gruffness had made her think him more likely to eat her than help her.

Since it wasn’t in her nature to let that stop her from enjoying herself she had set about trying to be the only one he ‘seemed’ to like. Her new position didn’t change that, she was still fond of him, even if she still didn’t know where she stood with him. “Master Roukar, you look like something chewed you up and spat you out, what happened?”

He’d see from the mischievous grin on her face she had refrained from using a pun, but that the idea had crossed her mind. Compared to his massive size she looked like a red haired twig, she only stood at five foot four and he topped over seven. Where she was lithe and slim, he was muscular and solid seeming, but she knew that he only looked like he was slow. “If you’d like we could head inside and I’ll snag us both some food and you can tell me about it, I’ve got plenty of empty space in my quarters where we’d be alone, if you’d prefer?”

Plus he’d be able to relax some and rest a bit, good food was always one of the many cures to go with making oneself look less like hell. She didn’t know that like her he was suffering from losing someone, didn’t know that like her he was trying to put a brave face up. However he’d probably tell that she was still hurting, it was in her body language, something a warrior of his caliber might see.

He wasn't quite sure if he was more hungry or more tired. He thought a moment patting his hand on his belly. He decided it would in fact be best to eat first. With a simple nod he responded, "Sure." His deep voice almost sounded like a purr. "I would very much like to pick your brain as we eat."

He smiled. His bright white sharp fangs gleamed in the sunlight. His species were clearly was not vegetarians. He wasn't quite sure where the new Grandmaster of the Jedi Order stood on his expeditions for justice. While the Jedi Order did not endorse his actions and more than once did he end up locked up in a cell he felt compelled to fight evil at every junction.

He followed the petite human female to the mess hall. He had wondered what they had on the menu today.

She grinned up at him “Our hunting expeditions did pretty well, there is plenty of meat to suit you massive carnivores, I lucked out in tagging a kill of my own this time so I can happily say I can share in the glory. We have plenty now for a bit more diversity and that means our nerf herd can rest just a bit easier. I can’t wait for a proper bath, one where I don’t have to worry about what kind of company I’ve got with me. The hide from the critter I got is gunna make me some nice soft and supple leathers, I’m excited.”

She did her best to keep up with his longer strides, but she eventually just gave up and shot him an apologetic look. “So, enough about me, did the critter that messed you up make a good fight?”

A small hint of sadness washed across his face when she had finished her question. "More than." He said with a clearly forced smile. What else could he say? He didn't necessarily want to talk about it and he was generally a cat of few words. The best way he saw to move past it was to forget it... though just forgetting a friend like Chebrywaroo was impossible. A heavy sigh escaped his lips about the time he reached the doorway of the mess hall. He had seen so many friends fall in the past but every time it affected him deeply. It was part of life and he knew it.

He did his best to hide it, but she saw the sadness, it said plenty especially since it seemed to her that he too recently lost someone. She touched his shoulder and nodded at him, he’d see the same sadness in her own eyes before it disappeared in the face of the many within the mess. “I think we both could use a drink, lets go order and flee to my quarters, I get the feeling that you’ve got no interest in braving the crowd as much as I don’t want to. Do you drink a little?”

It was one of those few times where she opened her bottle of firewhiskey and took a few drinks, she hadn’t dared to since Terrian’s funeral, she was too afraid of drinking it all, but with company? She could share a few shots, it would probably do him some good and numb the aches of his body a bit.

He paused a moment. He hadn't really known much about the red-head, especially not in such a personal venue. He had seen her in the temple before but he had never truly had a conversation with her. He drummed his claws on his pants. "Perhaps one then." He said motioning for her to lead the way. He wondered how much the small being could drink and how she would be affected. He followed her to her quarters second-guessing if it was quite proper for the leadership to be doing such things but the feeling of camaraderie and understanding fer outweighed his concerns.

She nodded “First we get food ordered, food would do you some good and I can’t have the healers on my tail for giving you alcohol without a proper meal.”

She led him to the line, placed her order and asked if they could eat in private, then simply walked off to wait for him then led him to her quarters. The whole thing was like some small apartment, it had an office, living quarters, common room, small kitchenette, a huge bathroom, practically big enough to swallow her whole. She walked to a cupboard and pulled out a bottle and two small glasses filling them both some and handing him one. “My father gave me this when I went home, haven’t touched it much, but its the good stuff. Make yourself comfortable, you don’t have to pretend around me, what goes on in this room stays here. So, hopefully you’ll trust me some eh?”

She sprawled on the couch with a sigh watching him and sipping her own drink. “I don’t like a lot of fuss, I usually feel like people bugger with formality because its a fussypants way of giving the person they are being formal to the finger. Wastes time more than should be wasted when work needs to be done. Hopefully you’ll not mind too much...”

Ta'Mur had to duck to get into her doorway and nearly bumped his head doing it. He took his food and placed it on the counter. He climbed on top of the stool adjacent the counter and sat with his feet resting on the seat and balanced himself with one of his hands. Sitting much like a feline, he pawed at his food with his free hand. It was quite a large portion of food, but he inhaled it quickly like it wasn't. Slightly concerned by her free-nature, he wondered if in the midst of tragedy they had made the wrong decision making her the Master of the order. Order was important and she seemed much too free a spirit to lead anything. She seemed pleasant enough but her ability to lead was most in question for the large cat. Ta'Mur awkwardly rolled his finger around the bowl not entirely certain how to respond to the request. Formality was all he really knew. Being son of leadership on his home planet to being a leader in his own right in the military. His life was formality.

Taking a quick swig of the drink she brought to him he politely smiled at her. "There is certainly a place for formality, Grandmaster." He said addressing her by her title to prove a point and partially to show his uneasiness of the situation. "Though I see that in some ways time might be better served elsewhere. Perhaps..." His sentence trailed off.

She was used to people being rather out of sorts with her, she dealt with things in a strange manner and the feline man certainly seemed out of his element around her. She smiled “So... Feel up to telling me what has you so sad?”
