night had fallen on gunsmoke as the van chaoticly bounced down the unpaved dirt road towards lewiston town, going faster then anyone would recommend. blood slowly poored from the wound in the young boy marty's chest. his breathing began to slow rapidly, he would not live much longer.
” i… want.. my.. mo.. mom ” the boy said as tears rolled down his cheak.
In the distance lewiston town became clear, the streets were lit by lamp posts which could be clearly seen in the distance, but for a town the size lewiston town was, something seemed off, there were no people visible, where in any other town this early in the evening many people would still be out. it soon became obvious that something horrible had happened while the gunfight in the remains of the SEEDS ship took place. the walls of the buildings were smeared with blood, as were the streets and porches of many, if not all, of the buildings. as the van neared the four story hospital a shocking sight dominated the front of the building, the word “knives” writen in blood.

Sanarian was too bewildered by this strange turn of events, and without further hesitation leapt from the car in a roll only to run out of side when he arose to both feet. Quickly the boy dashed from sight, and out of this story forever. On the other hand, just outside of town a new comrade approached; a figure from the past of Vash the Stampedede… none other than Nicholas D. Wolfwood.

“Finally… almost there.” groaned Wolfwood, crawling up the dune with the precious cross on his back that was filled with the mercy of God. He'd been on the road for quite some time, but just as the man's poor luck had always done his bike managed to break down on him. Not that it was very far out of town, but that being said it was still a fair walk and it simply left him exhausted. Of course, that was, until he saw the van beginning to pull up into town. Immediately the man began to sprint, the thought of a fresh meal and a cold drink in mind.

The sight of the town left the man in pure disgust, so much so, that he hardly noticed the bounty hunter slip out of their grasp. it was beyond his comprehention how a whole time could up and vash in this short period of time; the three of them hadnt been gone for more that a few hours. He looked back at the boy who was not in more pain that before, crying out for his mother. picking the lad up and kicking out the back door he began to race off to the hospital, sharply glancing at the words KNIVES which had been painted on the building. Looking back at the old man still in the truck he managed to utter a few words of advice “try to find the boys mother!” He kicked in the door to the hospital, looking around for any sign of human life whatsoever.

the planet gunsmoke was strangely cold at night, the cloudless sky holding in none of the heat that poured down from the multiple suns to the surface during the day.
“ where do you think your going… ” a familiar, and cold voice said as his dark body moved in front of the path inside the hospital entrance before pausing, the revealing himself in the light.. ” vash the stampede
a few meters ahead of vash stood the familiar figure, clad in a long flowing white robe that whipped in the wind, his hair a shade of blue and his presence frightful.
” you actually thought you could just run away? horror will always find you vash, and i hate to tell you.. your not going into this hospital.. and even if you did, the boy will not make it ” legato said as he started to step forward, towards vash who was in the doorway of the hospital's entrance.

L- Legato…h..how did you find me?!“, he seemed to utter the sentence without even noticing; he was too paralyzed with horror to regulate his body properly. In his arms the boy began to shake, a reaction to the fact that his bodly was nearly trembling. “All these people…you-….you killed them didnt you?!“, he had pressed the boy against him so he couldnt hear the words. “Was all of this just a plan to get me out of hiding?!, the kidnapping, the gun fighter, the reactor!“, He stared at him coldly with anger building upwithin him. ”Answer me damnit!

Kang raised his graying brow at the tall, blue haired figure standing in front of him and Eriks, completely unaware of the fact that he was one of the most dangerous men on Planet Gunsmoke, and curious–and, perhaps, bewildered–as to why the stranger had referred to his comrade as the infamous Vash the Stampede.

“What's going on here?” he asked absentmindedly. “Eriks, who is this man?”

Legato continued to approach vash, stopping just a step in front of the creature. Legato leaned forward staring deep into vash's green eyes looking for the hatred he must be feeling.
” did you miss me? cause i missed you ” Legato said as he returned to his normal stance. “ i see your still sharp though humanoid typhoon, your correct, it was all a game, just to remove you from this worthless town long enough for me to do knives' bidding. ” legato continued ” the boy, was my own little twist, its to bad he has to die in your arms ” legato finished as he formed an evil smile.
Legato stepped to the side and walked past vash onto the silent streets, stopping in the center of the square that was the front of the hospital.
” the game must continue vash.. ” legato said. “ it will begin again tomorrow, i will give you time to grieve for these pitiful people you care so much about ” legato finished, glaring for a moment at the old man before walking by and disappearing into the darkness of an alleyway, leaving behind only a small case on the ground beside the old man.

Wolfwood turned about a corner and stood not thirty feet from a blonde-haired man, who was none other than Vash the Stampede. “Yo, tongari!” He called out with a wide smile, only for his eyes to fall upon the scenario of this town. It was strange, there were no bodies… but blood was splattered about everwhere in an extremely gruesome fashon; whatever happened here hadn't taken place long ago either it was all still fresh. “Vash whenever we meet trouble seems to follow you, did'ja notice that?”

“Vash, it's been a while–where in God's name have you been this past year?” Wolfwood questioned seriously, easily holding up the cross on his back with an unsettling glance in his eyes. In his lips a cigarette burned brightly, awaiting an answer from his old 'friend'.

Vash remained in a peterfied state for several moments, reality felling to sink into his system. The words of his long lost friend seemed to bounce right off of him as his eyes finally rested upon the figure of the small boy in his arms. Right before his very eyes, yet another life seemed to drift away from this plane. hot streams of burning liquid began to drizzle down the check of his face ”Wolfwood…id….id appreciate it if you could say a few words“, he spoke in a deep somber voice, refering the the massive loss of this town. Slowly he crept to the towns church; the walk seeming to take several hours, yet being only a few minutes. Vash placed the boy at the foot of a large cross, slowly closing his eyes to block out the horrific reality of things. “WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE LIKE THIS?!“ he shouted as he slamed his fist against the pulpit railing. falling to his knees he wept for those innocent erased from this world.

“Yeah, tongari.” replied Wolfwood with a solemn tone. It was strange, always, to meet with Vash whom maintained such a pacifist lifestyle yet there was too much to be done to allow the man to grieve for every lost life. In the midst of this, the young man spotted what Legato Bluesummers had left for Vash and took ahold of it with an eerie silence.

Wolfwood stood in the Church, not far behind Vash and carefully laid the heavy cross aside before pulling a bible off of one of the chairs and standing over the boy with a mournful expression. As ever there was a lit cigarette in his mouth, as he opened the book for dramatic effect.
“May God in his infinite grace deliver this boy, and these poor lost souls of this town into the everlasting embrace of his arms. Amen.”

“Tongari. you're so touching to do this. To hire me to say words for these strangers, and giving me money right out of your pocket. Such a good man. That'll be fifty double-dollars.”
