BALANCE INTRODUCTION
The balance ability represents your characters ability to keep their balance when moving across a narrow ledge, a dangerous or uneven surface, etc. With a successful roll check it allows your character to walk across a precarious surface at half your characters normal speed. If you fail the roll check your character will be unable to move that round and will stay where they are, if you fail the check by more then five points, your character will fall. Below you will find a table that shows some basic roll check requirements for the most common balance checks. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Surface Dice Check Surface Dice Check
1 1/12 foot+ wide 8 7-12 inches wide 10
2-6 inches wide 15 less then 2 inches wide 20
Uneven ground surface 10 Surface angled +5
Surface slippery +5

ADVANCED USES
At times you may find yourself attempting to move across a ledge or beam while being actively attacked at the same time, making for a very dangerous situation. If this happens you automatically suffer -2 penalty to your balance check and your attack is given a +2 attack bonus (meaning if you take damage you take 2 more then you normally would for being unable to dodge the attack). If you are hit with a successful attack you must make another recovery balance check directly after with the -2 penalty still intact. Those with 5 or more ability ranks in the tumble ability also gain a special +2 bonus to all balance checks.

ACCELERATED MOVEMENT
If you’re willing to risk it, your character can attempt to move their full speed while balancing, doing so results in a -5 penalty to the balance check. Your character can also attempt to run while balancing, this becoming a full round action that adds a -10 penalty to the balance check.
