BLUFF INTRODUCTION
Using the bluff ability effectively can make a major difference in how you approach game play on Biohazard, as it can be used to entice people into doing what you want. If you wish to attempt to bluff someone it is important to make sure your bluff is believable (unless you are extremely good at it, at which point you can almost make someone believe anything). Bluff checks are offset by the sense motive skill, when you make a bluff check you will be given a bonus or penalty by the DM based on many factors (like information the other character knows that you do not, etc) to determine the overall effect of the bluff. For example, you make a bluff statement, at this point you must roll a d20 adding your bonus ranks to the roll. After this the DM will access the bluff and give you a bonus or penalty and then the character being bluffed will be allowed to make a sense motive check, if they out roll you, the bluff fails. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLUFF EXAMPLES
Below is a table that has some example bluffs, along with a generalized bonus/penalty modifier for each to give you an example of how they will be used in RP. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Type Example Modifier
Target wants to believe you. "No these rounds aren’t blanks, let’s finish the trade" +5 (bonus)
Believable, doesn’t affect target. "I didn’t know this was private property sir, I must have just made a wrong turn" +0
Hard to believe, slight risk. "What you thugs want to fight? Come on I can take all of you on, if you’re not chicken" -5 (penalty)
Hard to believe, large risk. "No this tank doesn’t belong to the Army, you think I would sell you a stolen Army tank?" -10 (penalty)
Impossible to believe. "You might find this hard to believe, but I’m actually the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ." -20 (penalty)

ADVANCED USES
You can use the bluff ability to attempt to mislead an opponent in combat so that he leaves himself open for your next attack. Doing this is a full round action which will take place of your attack phase, however the next attack you get to make against the character is unavoidable and will do 1.5x the standard damage due to the character being open to attack. If you fail a bluff of this fashion you will leave yourself open to attack and suffer the same outcome. It should be noted against non-intelligent creatures like zombies bluffing is nearly impossible as they attack without strategy and will simply not fall for misdirection. Bluff can also be used to create a diversion that gives your character or allies an open chance to make a hide attempt. Failed bluff checks make it impossible to ‘retry’, though it’s possible to try the DM will add penalties based on the bluff situation.
