SWIM INTRODUCTION
The swim ability is used to determine how well your character can swim, navigate, or dive. A successful swim check allows your character to move at 1/4 normal speed in a body of water as a move equivalent action or 1/2 your characters normal speed as a full round action. When in the water you will need to make a swim check at the beginning of every round, a failed check will result in your character’s inability to move that round. If your check fails by 5 or more your character will go underwater and begin to drown (3 failed checks this way in a row result in the drowning of your character). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

ADVANCED USES
The swim ability can also be used to swim underwater, when doing so you suffer a -1 cumulative penalty to your swim check each round, which represents your characters limited air supply. Characters wearing full diving gear are not subject to drowning unless the air supply runs out, which will be determined in number of rounds beforehand. Characters will suffer a -1 penalty for every 5 pounds of items or equipment they are carrying when swimming. |
