STATUS EFFECTS INTRODUCTION
At times you will find your characters inflicted with status effects which will negatively effect your characters well being. These status effects range in severity and usually can be easily removed, through the use of items and skills. Below you will find detailed information about all the negative status effects present here on Biohazard, as well as information on how they modify game play and how the can be cured. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BURNED
Fire is dangerous to all creatures and thus is frequently used as a weapon or is the by product of a weapon. If a character becomes burned they suffer a -2 temporary constitution loss, as well as a -2 loss to dexterity if the burns are located on the hands. Burns can be easily treated by wrapping the wound with burn ointment and bandages. If burns are not treated within 48 hours there is a 25% chance of the burned character developing infection.

INFLUENZA
Influenza, also known as the flu, is a common virus that is easily transmitted through the air. In most cases a human’s immune system is going to protect them from the flu, however if a person comes in contact with someone who is infected with the virus they have a 25% chance of catching it as well. Influenza reduces stamina by 75% while active, and causes a temporary loss of -5 to constitution, strength, and reflexes. The flu can be cured by taking antibiotics for three days.

BROKEN BONE
Accidents happen, and bones get broken. At times the DM will deem it necessary to have a check to make sure a bone is not broken (in cases of extreme falls, or damage taken). If the character does happen to break a bone they will suffer long term stat reductions based on the area of the body harmed, as well as a reduction of speed. These reductions will be dealt out case by case by the DM based on the area of the body harmed. Broken bones take time to mend, but my be stabilized or else permanent stat reductions may form due to the injury not healing correctly.

INFECTION
If a character is burned, or takes damage from a bullet or knife their wounds can become infected (a 25% chance of it happening after 48 houses). When wounds become infected characters suffer a temporary -2 penalty to constitution as well as a -10% penalty to stamina. Infections come in many forms but are all easy to prevent. If damaged make sure to clean and treat wounds and then bandage them to remove the possibility of infection. If a wound does become infected a character must take antibiotics to kill the infection (takes in game days).

BLINDNESS
Temporary blindness can last for a minute or for days and can be caused by many different things. If a character is stricken blind they suffer a -2 constitution penalty as well as a -10 dexterity penalty. Temporary blindness usually resolves itself but sometimes can be because of infection or burn, at which case it can be treated via the methods listed above with each of those status effects. If a character is stricken blind permanently they will initially suffer a -10 dexterity penalty that will slowly decrease to -5 after two weeks.
