SKILLS & THEIR USE
Skills are what allow you to make your character into whatever you might dream. Through the use of skills you will be able to do just about anything any real person could learn to do, and get better at those skills over time. Skills will come in many forms, from combat moves that increase the amount of physical damage your character can deal out, to your characters ability to use items or equipment to it’s fullest and even to how well your character will perform at the most basic tasks. From the start of Biohazard you will know all basic skills (like climbing or listening) and be able to select from pre-designed skill sets of more specialty skills, or even create your own custom skills that allow you to define your character. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
SKILL TIERS EXPLAINED
While not all skills on Biohazard will be tier based, many will. The tier system basically means many skills will have several levels of mastery that you can move through based on how often you use said skill. This is meant to mimic the learning ability a human has, the more they do something, the better they will get at it. Skills that have more then one level of use will be defined in detail on the ( abilities ) section with information on how many times they need to be used before your character can gain the next level of mastery. You will be in charge of keeping track of how many times your character uses skills in the various RP threads so that you can have real time skill set upgrades when you reach the prerequisite amount of use set, so please make sure to stay on top of that.

GAINING EXPERIENCE
As detailed above, your characters skills in effect will gain experience, which you will need to keep track of. To make this a simple task skills will be listed on your character’s bio along with how many times they have been used. When your character reaches the prerequisite amount detailed in the skills description it will be leveled up and your character will become more skilled at that task. This is a core concept here on Biohazard, that it’s not the character that levels up, but rather their abilities.

CREATING SKILL SETS
Ask briefly mentioned above, you will have the ability to create custom skills for your character to help define their individuality. This is a fairly open process where you the member will post your idea for a skill on the ( custom skills ) board. A manager will review the skill you wish to create and work with you to work it into the combat system the way you envisioned. Skills will need to be balanced correctly and in some cases tiered to allow for multiple levels of mastery, this will usually be suggested by the manager reviewing the skill, but can be suggested by the member as well if they have specific ideals for the skill levels. The ability to create custom skills is one that will really allow you to make characters that reflect whatever life they lived before the contagion was released, so be creative and don’t shy away from just suggesting concepts to improve the RPG in a whole. |
