WEST ULYSSES
Industry is a big part of what makes a city grow, where there is industry there is usually also a growing city. Ulysses has always been a hard working town, with several major industries propelling it’s growth into the city that it is today, and most of those industries call West Ulysses home. Apart from being home to many factories and warehouses which help supply the entire region with important consumer goods, Ulysses also sports a rather large shipping dock due to their proximity to the mouth of the Alexander River, which is just 44 miles west. The docks are busy 24 hours a day, shipping goods made in Ulysses many factories out and unloading goods to fill the consumer warehouses. West Ulysses is also home to many bars and other places hard working men like to spend their free time, making it known as a tough part of town. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
SHIPPING WAREHOUSE
Due to the extreme level of activity the Ulysses docks having large warehouses to store and stage goods is important, and Ulysses certainly has no shortage of these massive buildings. Warehouses dot the cities industrial district, some massive in size, nearing a million square feet, with others smaller and meant for more niche or specific goods. Almost anything can be found in these labyrinth-esque commercial monoliths.

UPTIN’S CONCRETE FACTORY
The amount of factories and industrial business that calls Ulysses is home, but none are as well known to the building trades as Uptin’s Concrete, North America’s largest commercial supplier of concrete. Uptin’s was founded in Ulysses in 1932 and through the years has grown into the construction giant it is today. Though they have many other factories located nation wide, their home factory and most well known is running strong here in Ulysses Oregon.

WEST ULYSSES POLICE DEPARTMENT
Industrial districts tend to be known as some of the toughest parts of town, and that is not different in Ulysses, where the western side of town has become a hotbed of small crime. To combat the rising crime rate in West Ulysses the city decided to open a large police department complete with containment facilities and everything else the department would need to run own it’s own without support from Downtown’s UPD Headquarters.

GENO’S SALOON
Working men like bars, so it goes without saying that West Ulysses is full of bars. While most are small places that have little to know history there are few more well known establishments. Geno’s first opened in the 1950s when the industry in Ulysses really started to take hold, and they have never looked back. Know as a place where you can get a decent meal and cheap drinks, it’s a favorite among the factory and dock workers of the area.

ULYSSES DOCKYARD
Being as near to the mouth of the Alexander River as Ulysses is has allowed the city to become a strong sea trade community. The docks are used for most any and all types commercial shipping from seafood, which is shipped up from the coastal docks to be processed, to lumber which comes from the surrounding pine forests and is shipped all around the west coast for processing. Activity at the docks never seems to cease, most companies running 24 hours a day.

WEST ULYSSES STATIONS
Fires can be and are a real danger in industrial districts, with the amount of machinery and goods located in their many factories and warehouses. To make sure Ulysses is safe from the kind of widespread fire threats some industrial districts allow, several small fire stations are located through out the western side of town, making sure that all fires can be reached in a very timely manor to prevent them from spreading through the district.

BIG BILL’S TRUCK STOP
Being the major port that Ulysses is, it’s only natural to assume a fleet of big rig trucks are always moving to and from the city. Trucking is a tough job and truckers need a place they can relax when they are off the road, and that place is Big Bill’s. Not only can they fuel up, they can get a great home cooked meal at the diner, or even pay for the ability to take a hot shower and a nap in one of the rooms which drivers can rent for the night, or by the hour.
