B A T T L E S Y S T E M
Hit Points:
Hit Points or HP are your most important stat as they are you your life force, the more you have the better. The maximum amount of HP a character can have is 9999, and when a character reaches 0 HP they are knocked out and can not continue with a battle or rp until they are healed. Unlike many sites your HP will not reset after battles here on Fortress so please keep up with it when you update your bios.
Magic Points:
Magic Points or MP are also a very important stat that you will want to keep track of. Like HP, MP maxes out at a certain number, 999 for MP. MP unlike HP is used for Magic Spells which you will obtain but equipping materia to your Weapon or Armor. Each spell will use a certain number of MP and when you run out you cant use any more spells. Please remember that you must have the spells required amount of MP to use it. Also like HP MP does not reset after battle so keep good track of it when you update your bios.
Strength (STR):
Strength or STR is your physical attack statistic, it determines how much damage any basic attack will do. If you dont have a weapon equiped STR is your Damage to an Opponent. If you do have a weapon equiped the Damage formula is STR + Weapon Damage = Total Damage.
Vitality (VIT):
Vitality or VIT is your Physical defense statistic, it determines how much damage you will take from a physical attack. If you don’t have Armor equipped the Damage formula is Opponents Total Damage – VIT. If you do have armor equipped the formula is Opponents Total Damage – VIT + Armor Bonus.
Magic (MAG):
Magic or MAG is like STR as it determines your Magic Damage. When you cast a spell you use the spell multiplier to determine how much damage it will do. Example is you use Fire which does Mag x2 Damage so your total Magic Damage will be your MAG x2.
Spirit (SPR):
Spirit or SPR is like VIT as it determines your Magic Defense. When someone casts a magic spell on you and you don’t have any Armor equipped the damage formula is. Opponents Magic Damage – SPR. When you do have armor equipped its Opponents Magic Damage – SPR + Armor Bonus.
Dexterity (DEX):
Dexterity or DEX is your Speed in battle, it determines who goes first and will also determine if you can dodge an opponents attack. The person with the Highest DEX in battle will do first. More about Dodging attacks Below
Luck (LUCK):
Luck Determines if you get a critical attack on your turn or not. Now a critical attack for those who may not know is a very powerful special attack that lets you do more damage then a normal attack. More about Critical Attacks Below
What You Can Do On Your Turn:
During battle there are a few things you can do on your turn. First and foremost you can Attack which is a giving, you may also Use an Item or Cast a Magic Spell (Including Summons). Later on you may learn other abilities that you can do on your Turn including Steal and Mug or Enemy Skill. Info on those abilities will be listed with them. Remember you can only do one action per turn unless you have a spell cased on yourself that negates that rule.
Dodging:
When a player attacks you you do have the ability to dodge the attack based on a dice roll the system all in all is pretty simple and isn’t required for any battle but can be used if desired. whenever you are attacked you can roll a d10 if your roll is 1 or 2 then you dodge the attack. As your luck increases (for every 10 points) you gain a +1 to your roll, for more info on that see below.
Critical Attacks:
Like Dodging Critical attacks will be based on your Luck and a Dice roll. The higher your LUCK stat is the better chance you will have of landing a critical attack which does Total attack Damage x2. The dice role system for critical strikes goes like so, you roll a d10 and a 1-2 is a critical, the higher your luck is (for every 10 luck points) you gain +1 number on the role, so if your luck is 10 then its 1-3 critical, if its 20 1-4, and so on to a max of 1-5 critical.
Free Form Battles:
Just to let it be known, using the stat battle system here on FF7 Fortress is not a requirement for member battles, if your not into stat battling but rather are into a free form style of battles by all means please battle that way, there are no differences in the gains you will receive for winning and losing between the styles, just make sure that its kept completely fair and there wont be any problems with free form member vs. member battles. |
