ATTRIBUTES EXPLAINED
Welcome to the attributes section of FFvii Fortress, this may possibly be the first or second page that you get a chance to read here and it is a very important one. You may find yourself wondering what exactly are attributes, and how do attributes play a part in role-playing here. The answer to those questions are simple, attributes are your character’s defining statistics that play a role in almost every battle you will fight here on fortress, and because of that it is very important for you to understand exactly what each attribute is and how it is used on the site, so please read on.

HIT POINTS EXPLAINED
Hit Points, or from now on HP, are your characters life gauge in battle. Your character’s HP is quite possibly the most important stat and because of that should be the one paid most attention to in combat. When a Character is attacked and after all of the damage calculations have been completed the final damage is subtracted from your characters HP. When your characters HP reaches zero the battle is over and you are knocked out.
› [ example ]: An attack causes 80 damage to your HP, which at max is 200, you have 120 HP left.

MAGIC POINTS EXPLAINED

Magic Points, or from now on MP, reflect how potent your character’s magical abilities are. MP is not as important in combat as HP but it does play a large roll. Whenever you use a spell or sometimes even a skill your characters MP drops by that skills required amount. If your MP reaches zero in combat you will no longer be able to use any of those spells or abilities until you find a way to restore some of that MP to your character.
› [ example ]: You cast fire on an enemy, fire costs 6 MP, your max MP is 20, your MP is now 14.

ATTRIBUTE: STRENGTH
Strength determines how strong your characters physical attacks and skill are in battle. The higher the strength of your character the more powerful weapon based attacks are going to be. The strength attribute ties in with the weapon damage formula, and the basic attack formula which can be found below.
 › [ atk. formula ]: ATK (str + weapon) + [(atk + level) /32] x [(atk x level) / 32]

ATTRIBUTE: DEXTERITY
The dexterity attribute may seem less important then the others because it has somewhat limited uses but it does play a role in ever battle that you take place in, as dexterity first determines the order of the battle. Battle order is determined from the character with the highest dexterity to the one with the lowest. Dex is also the stat used for determining if a character can dodge an attack, for more on dodging read battle mechanics [ link ]

ATTRIBUTE: VITALITY

Vitality represents your characters physical defense against any physical attacks or abilities. Because of this it is a very important stat, comparable to strength. Vitality when added to your armors physical defense makes up your characters total defense statistic which is subtracted from the atk. formula to determine total damage.
 › [ def. formula ]: DEF (vit + armor) + [(def+ level) / 32] x [(def x level) / 32]

ATTRIBUTE: MAGIC
Magic, like strength, plays a large role in determining damage from attacks, however rather then being used for physical attacks, like strength, magic is applied to magic spells. Magic damage is much easier to figure up then the formulas used to determine magic damage, with multipliers added from different spells.
 › [ mag. formula ]: Magic Damage = (mag x 6) x spell multiplier

ATTRIBUTE: SPIRIT
Spirit is relative to Vitality in that it’s a defensive stat used to determine how much total damage you take from an attack, however instead of being used for physical attacks, spirit is used to determine you Magic Defense stat. The formula is very similar to that of the physical defense formula
 › [ mdef. formula ]: MDEF (spr + armor) + [(mdef + level) / 32] x [(mdef x level) / 32]

ATTRIBUTE: LUCK

Luck is the final main attribute and plays its part in determining how frequently your character gains the use very powerful abilities. Luck plays part in characters gaining critical attacks which boost the attacks power two fold, dodging attacks, and gaining items after the battle ( that is if you are battling beasts ). Luck will be explained more in depth in the battle mechanics section of this guide which can be found [ here ]
