Daimyo Tadeeki Otomo
Head of the Otomo clan who over the past few centuries have shifted from being one of the major families, once controlling vast amounts of land and armies extending into central Japan, to being a smaller clan who mostly control the northern Honshu region of Tohoku. Otomo Tadeeki has ruled over his clan since assuming the Daimyo role as a young man in his mid-20s, when his father was killed in conflict near Shiga by the Tokugawa. Otomo Tadeeki has been known as a great strategist in conflict, though he was known to avoid war when possible and simply try to retain the lands which were in his control. The Tokugawa had, over the last half century, been slowly but steadily annexing one region after the next from the Otomo, though their progress was slowed by Otomo Tadeeki’s ability to push back the invading forces. Otomo Tadeeki has been known as a major opposer to the growing power of the Tokugawa, which has put the Otomo clan on the outside of political moves that have put the Tokugawa in the position of grasping the Shogunate. Otomo Tadeeki was assassinated in his manor by unknown ninja.

Onaga Goichi
Counselor to Daimyo Tadeeki Otomo and diplomat in charge of forming relationships with the other major clans in order to stop the Tokugawa’s slow but steady seizure of Otomo lands. Not much about Onaga’s youth is known, but as a young man he managed to gain the attention of Otomo Tadeeki through the means of his connections to the courts of several of the major families. In his decade as counsel to Daimyo Otomo the Tokugawa invasion into Otomo lands was greatly slowed, a feat which Otomo himself greatly regarded as due to Onaga’s ability to provide him information on their motivations. Onaga is a shrewd character, often forceful with others when he needs something done, which has lead many to dislike him, yet his favor with Otomo has never faltered.
