I'm not too familiar with KH but perhaps you could help me come up with a character for Rinoa from FF8?
Has everything in FF8 happened in this story? Would she know who Leon was?

The way KH works is the worlds characters are from are being destroyed by monsters called Heartless and people from those worlds get displaced. I also play a FF character (Locke from FFVI) and the FF world was distroyed, some things from FF8 definitely happened though, so you should be set to be Rinoa (Unless griff says something about it?)

In KH, the Final Fantasy characters, Leon, Cid, Yuffie, Aerith, Cloud, and Sephiroth, come from Radiant Garden (Hollow Bastion now). Also, Selphie, Tidus, and Wakka come from Destiny Islands. These are most of the FF characters in the game, I'm pretty sure any others aren't from FF8. All other FF characters not in the game will come from a world called Gaia. Imagine it as a planet with every FF game. So there will be the ff8 continents with everyone, but Leon and Selphie. That being said, you can have some artistic liberty with her. The history of the planet doesn't really need to be the same for every character because it's destroyed and is just a background element.

So, you can think about what would Rinoa do if she never met Squall or not really go into it. How far into FF8 did Gaia get or was that totally sidetracked because of other game's continents. Your call. All that's really important to me is you stick to Rinoa and you don't know Leon. That doesn't mean you won't fall in love, the game is all about hearts. For the most part, I don't see Gaia ever really interacting with this games universe. As time goes on, I may add planets and such, but Gaia would be so massive a planet it wouldn't work. So have fun with the history. Consult Locke's history for a reference and whatever luggage you want to bring over will most likely be okay, just don't go crazy. Timber Wolves ain't taking over the world. One idea is during that train mission she fails since Squall isn't there and goes into the dark portal to go to Traverse Town. Dark portals occur on planets about to be destroyed by heartless and is how FF character's get to Traverse Town. Your call just came to me.

Also want to mention, the character creation process is being simplified. I'll be doing it tomorrow, not much work, but you can make a bio based on whats there, won't be much change. Hope this helped, any other questions put them up and I'll answer.

Rinoa goes to Balamb Garden for assistance on the Timber mission but Squall is not there. Instead, it is Zell who is sent to help her, along with Quistis and a couple of random others who weren't in the game (or just entirely random people if you would prefer me not to include any other FF characters). They succeed and get as far as the mission to assassinate Edea, where Rinoa is locked away in her bedroom. The mission fails and Edea/Ultimecia, along with a multitude of other Sorceresses who are suddenly summoned from various time periods, begin to reign terror amongst the world. Rinoa manages to escape through the sewers and is sucked into a portal that takes her to Traverse Town. 
Perhaps Angelo could come with her? :) Not a major deal but could be useful.
I like this picture of her. I understand Leon is around 25? Selphie looks a lot younger. Should I keep Rinoa as 17 or make her older? I'm not clear as to why Selphie and Leon are so far apart in terms of age.

Perhaps her race would be Magic-Infused (Sorceress) or would it make more sense to keep her as a Human? I think Mage would suit her best for class. It's a very extensive Creation form.

I'd keep Rinoa the age she was in FF8 if you go with that story. I'd say the dark portal takes you away before Ultimecia takes over the world. That would take away the problems of the other games conflicting. Plus, heartless will be crawling all over Gaia before you get taken away. Try to make it a more personal history than game history since that's what carries over. The age difference is because they aren't connected anymore and so they make sense in their role of the game. Selphie is a minor childhood friend of Sora and needs to be young. Leon is a guiding figure for Sora so needs to look a little older. Don't think too much into the history and you have no connection to Leon or Selphie. Angelo can, but not immediately. She can be a summon stone, a form of summoning, that you get later.

The simplification is underway and creation is set for the most part.

 H i s t o r y
   + Rinoa grew up as the daughter of an army general, Fury Caraway, but never agreed with his views and the two grew apart. She rebelled against him and joined a group of freedom fighters called the Forest Owls. Seeking help from SeeD, she was able to cause a lot of trouble for the Galbadian government until finally meeting resistance at the hands of the Sorceress Edea. With the SeeD cadets employed to help her, she managed to defeat the Sorceress, but was then bestowed with her powers. She was taken to Esther where she knew she could not be harmful towards anybody but was met by the Heartless. The SeeD cadets who had helped her were killed. Fleeing in fear, Rinoa headed to Esther alone, before finding a portal that took her to an unusual land. Lost and alone, she has no choice but to do what she can to help fight back against the Heartless.

Just a few things:
1. Need to choose a mage specialization, white or black.
2. Skill would be magical embodiment from the mage class, your specialization decides which type of magic spells it can be used for. Proficency would be robes and usually staves, but you brought up a good point probably by accident. White mages will also get bows and black mages will get daggers so theres a choice. If you choose black and still want bow, pick either staves or dagger as a proficency and you can gain the proficiency of bow through a quest and until then a -20% to the weapon. Just letting you know your not too stuck. 
3. Traits would be intelligence. Basically, when making custom abilities that trait allows you to use the intelligence stat. Either protection or fire magic ability is free since your symbol is wand. I'd pick protection cause it's more expensive. I suggest picking up heart attack since you need it to physically attack heartless.
4. Weapons appearances are static, at least those bought. There are some ways around. There will be a synthesis material that allows a change of appearance, this will keep stats according to bows. There may also be a quest at higher levels for a new weapon set entirely, but that was just an idea I was playing with. You can have the pin wheels change into your starting bow when you get to traverse town since your heart adjusts to that world.
5. Your increased agility would be 40, bows gives +20. You can also buy another accessory you get two spots at start.
6. I'm not looking much from history just want an idea of your character or how you see her. If your having trouble seeing when she changes over, use when she would have met Squall and thats when the heartless comes. I won't force that, but that's one point I know will work. Roles are being changed, the only thing missing is 2 or 3 roles, but the ideas up there. You can take a look for reference when you come up with sorceress. The only thing that's changing is less pages and maybe a few less abilities and traits, but for the most part it's there.

Edit: Magic Infused ability is now +25 MP per level up and one free level 1 ability. Also add magical amplification to passive.

1. I think she would be a more offensive mage but I don't really understand the heart thing. If she has a dark heart, which seems to be required for black mage, would she be considered evil? 
2. I guess this depends on the above. I don't mind doing an extra quest to access bows. She would need to learn that anyway as a Pinwheel is very different.
3. I chose Protection. I put Heart Attack under Passive and used 6 AP for Fire and Ice.

5. Thanks for that! I've added an Energy Bangle to accessories.
6. I think it's best that she doesn't know Squall. I think a 17 year old and a 25 year old seems odd, personally. I'll have a think about Sorceress as a role and see what I can come up with.

1. Don't put dark and light in columns of good and evil. The Force would be a good example of this. If your a fan of Star Wars, Luke and the Jedis later on decide to use the dark side to some extent. Another way to look at it is in the emotional spectrum, kindness and anger as examples. Another way is light creates while darkness destroys. This has been a topic of discussion in many canons so take your pick, but dark doesn't mean evil, selfishness is another good example. Black mage is fine. Something to keep in mind, on top of int x the spell multiplier, dark side is added at the end of spells of that type, light works the same way, so keeping a balance is a good idea.
2. I'll be adding the proficient quest shortly will be either level 5 or 10 if you want bow. 
3. That works due to the new magical amplification.
4. I'll allow the big change with the synthesis material as an exception since it's a FF character. Custom weapon set is up for debate.
5. Stats look good.
6. Yea, Squall doesn't exist at all in regards to Gaia. That was just reference in the game where without a doubt there would be no issue and be mainly about her. Leon is basically a completely new character. When it comes to role, remember the most important part of them is the skill. 

Checklist to be done:
A. Black Mage or White Mage.
B. Weapon Proficiency choosen (If you go black mage and want bow, then remember the 20% reduction to those stats, but pick staves or daggers anyways).
C. History

1. I went for Black Mage as I feel this fits better with her character. The Sorceress side of her can come out as quite malicious at times.
2. Brilliant, I'd like the Bow eventually.

6. I've had a go at the history. I'm not entirely happy with it but the main point from FF8 I wanted to get was that she picked up the Sorceress powers before coming to Traverse Town.

Approved. There just one issue, but it's not something I'll delay the process with. Do you want staves or daggers as a weapon proficiency? That way you can change weapon if you want and have the proficiency already. Right now the event is open and me and dys are just waiting for a third to continue it. Jack's been gone for a while so his post will be deleted to keep the thread on track so feel free to post there. You can sign up for a DM quest or take on a quest by yourself. If the quest requires more than one chosen, I'll use my character as well to hit that quota.

Edit: Just wanted to point out that the evil side the sorceress have comes from Ultimecia. Edea did run an orphanage before Ultimecia took over, so don't feel like you have to be a black mage because of that. A piece of that negative energy could have travelled with you through the dark portal and became part of your heart when it adjusted to Traverse Town or it could have wiped her clean. Should Ultimecia be used in the story, she won't have any control over you, but if you would like some of that negative side the first explanation would fit and make it part of you as a whole rather than control. When you tell me the proficiency let me know. Just wanted to remind you that being a sorceress didn't actually make them evil, just made they controllable by Ultimecia, but you have the choice to go either way.

Thanks for that. I was trying to simplify the story as I didn't think it had to carry over. We could change Edea to Ultimecia. I think that negative energy should have travelled with her and can give her some trouble throughout the story here.

I wasn't talking about history, that's fine. I was just pointing out your not stuck with the evil side of a sorceress. Also, sub races will be removed, so magic infused is being removed. You'd just need to choose which ability to lose. I'll handle the rest. You can still rp without responding to this first, it's not something I'd keep you back from joinning the event or anything. The event may seem dead, but me and dys have been waiting for a third before we really start.

Thats right. Your bios been updated if you see any issues let me know. There is one final thing you'll need to decide on when the times comes. You'll soon be able to pick your own traits. I pretty sure you'll start with one and may want to stick with intelligence or get that later. There's a list up at the top of the pages right now if you want to take a look at the list to plan ahead, but we'll talk about it more once that is finished. Just wanted to give you a heads up.

Of course you can use the bow. I designed it to be mainly physical with backup magic. With the bow and cotton robes, you have 200 munny left over. The accessories would have to wait. When it comes to abilities you can have 2 universal/magic and MP Haste, the mage level 1 ability. Guard, dodge roll, fire, ice, thunder, and cure are the universal/magic choices to start. Your trait can still be knowledgeable, but take a look at the new stats and stat growth of a mage and decide. The traits have been changed quite a bit so take a look. Everything else I can change for you. Feel free to get right into the event since it's just small stuff to change, but your general character is fine.

I'll point out some of the changes. Skills and proficience are gone. No more custom abilities for now, but I've revamped the classes to have KH attacks. I'm open to adding that later with member discussion. Limit breaks and forms are gone for now. Stats are based off classes and stat growth decided by them. Level ups are automatic like on CT:EG so it's simple to update. Starting races no longer do anything, but define you. Synthesis will have a big emphasis coming up as you see the armory is greatly reduced. Most important, agility is gone making things much easier. Also almost no percents just static numbers.
