The rhythmic ring of a lone bell echoed though the darkness of Guardia Forest, the rays of sunshine filtered out by the tree top canopy. Darting from a perch the olive green Avian Chaos had sighted intruders to it's home and with powerful thrusts of it's wings it was upon them quickly. Swooping the bird dove at the young woman, using it's talons to slash towards her, connecting and then swiftly darting a safe distance away, flapping hard, it's enemies in sight.

What a wonderous forest this was! That was the most immediate thought that was predominant to Demitri was he casually walked through the forest. Being away from his own time had given him a new appreciation for these kinds of natural things.
This was probably due to the fact that this time perinod was missing most of his work hobbies. Back in his time he had spent most of his life within the domed city that was his home, tinkering through the days in his research. Even if 1010 was missing certain things that he liked – no, was obsessed with – he had grown to enjoy this newfound appreciation for nature in the relatively short time it had manifested.
Demitri's had even met a charming young woman within this place, and she made for delightful company as he took in the sights and sounds of the forest. This casual triapse through this enchanted forest was to be most rudely interrupted, however. What began as a strange but calming bell chime turned out to be wrought by a bird with a less than sunny disposition. The creature flapped it's wings angrily and dove at Demitri's new aquaintance, landing what looked to be a painful attack upon the woman.
“What the hell, bird!” Demitri shouted at the creature, drawing his weapon and locking his sights upon the creature. It was probably strange for someone to talk to a wild beast as if it could understand them, but Demitri had never been involved in an animal attack. This was all new to him, albeit exciting in it's own way.
Demitri glanced at Lena, giving her a silent apology for her being attacked, before aiming his weapon towards the avian and firing off a series of shots.

The forests of Guardia were no mystery to Lena. Since being chased out of her hometown, she had learned to be resourceful and use such places as sanctuaries for shelter, food and safety. Upon her back was an invention that she had made recently after her deaparture from the surrounding town of Guardia castle. Made of bronze, a material she could easily get her hand of, the crossbow had saved her life in many occassions. It had taken her a while to get used to using it, but as her physical fighting capabilities were yet to be desired, it was as essential to her well being as food and water.
Demitri was a warm welcom to the solitude lifestyle she was forced to live. Charming and endearing, she enjoyed talking with him and found her journey through the forest to be much safer and relaxed. Suddenly, those feelings were shattered! Out of nowhere, a foul looking bird flew down and lashed out at her. She gasped, gripping her arm as pain seered down from her shoulder to her elbow. Immediately, she fell to the ground, but a reflex left her grabbing for her crossbow, taking aim from the floor and firing a lone bolt. It missed, the bird swerving so quickly to one side that Lena's jaw dropped.

Flapping violently the Avian Chaos mind was only on defending it's territory, however possible. As light filtered through the canopy, casting odd shadows in every direction giving the forest a mystical appearance the bird readied for another strike, once again locking in on the young woman and swooshing in swiftly slashing at her with one of it's talons.

Demitri found himself somewhat jubilent as he realized that his aim had been perfect, striking his airbourne target with relative ease. While most people probably would have expected such an outcome, Demitri wasn't the most experienced person when it came to mortal combat. He considering himself a man of intellect, not combat, but it seemed that what training he did happen to have was serving him well.
Unfortunately, the bird seemed dead set on attacking the young lady that had been accompanying Demitri. He winced as she took yet another another blow from the angry bird. That couldn't have felt well. The thought that they may have been encroaching upon the beasts's territory never crossed through Demitri's mind, and instead he prepared to attack the avian once again.
Since his companion had been attacked consecutively, Demitri decided that perhaps he should up the ante and attack his enemy with a bit more power. Not only would that hasten it's demise, but it'd perhaps take it's attention away from her, and would allow her a bit of reprieve from the onslought.
Demitri wasn't a man of just technology, but also how the natural world functioned along with said technology. Along the way in his studies he had picked up a rather useful ability that allowed him to conjure flames where he desired. He'd never tried it out before in a combat situation, but he could think of no better situation that called for it!
With a seconds more hesitation, Demitri extended his hand and wrought forth a fiery stream towards his enemy.

After managing to stand back up, Lena quickly reloaded another bolt, this time standing her ground in preparation of aiming more accurately. The angry bird seemed defiant on taking her down, perhaps thinking she was the weaker target of the two. This second attack was not as painful, but broke the skin on her left shoulder causing a small wound to open up and slowly seep blood. Wincing once more, Lena braced her feet into the ground and outstretched her right arm, finger firmly on the trigger. As she went to fire, Demitri lit up the immediate area with the blaring light of a fire assault. It was impressive but nothing Lena herself could not manage. Seeing this as a more valuable effort, Lena chose to immitate the young man and dug her hand deep inside her satchel, pulling out a small device and throwing it at the bird, watching it explode in a mass of flames and embers. ” Take that! ” She called out, landing a direct hit. In the moment it took for the bird to recouperate, Lena reached for her wound and tightened the cape around her neck to apply pressure, preventing any blood from further leaving her body.

The successive bursts of flames which illuminated the darkening forests sent the Avian Chaos into a frantic state, it's wings flapping and sending it's body darting back and forth as small embers still burned the bird. Regaining sense the bird swooshed up high and then dived back down towards the young man below, ramming beak first.

There was something oddly satifying about nearly burning something to a crisp. If he had been doing this to anything else, he would have considered the possibility that he was some sort of pyromaniac, but he was sure that it was the sweet taste of revenge that was making this particular instance so satisfying. If this beast wanted to be so territorial about this area, then he was going to get his in return.
Of course, Demitri's brilliant plan of distracting the angry avian didn't include the forethought of him actually being attacked. It was one of those things that may have been on his mind, but he was so gung-ho about intercepting his enemy that he probably didn't think things through as much as he should. In the end, he supposed it wasn't of too big of consequence since he'd rather have it attacking him than Lena anyway.
The creature was upon him before Demitri could react. His lack of being prepared for the attack served to just make it all that much more worse, as the beasts struck him at full speed with it's razor sharp beak. “Damn it!” Demitri had just enough time to turn his back towards his attacker, and while that didn't do anything to soften the blow it at least made it strike a tougher area. The beak left a long tear along the back of his shirt, and he was pretty sure that it probably drew blood.
In any case, Demitri wasn't about to let that go without retaliation, and having been attacked left Demitri with the feeling of wanting to burn this creature further. Almost on instinct, Demitri extended an arm once again, and a torrent of searing hot flames once again shot out towards his target.

It was difficult to tell how damaged the bird was as it was still flying strong and looking as angry as ever. Lena was just glad she was not facing this thing alone. A strong gust of wind came blowing harshly through the forest, hitting her hard in the face, just enough to blow the hood from over her head. It actually helped to improve her vision but she felt somewhat vulnerable being so exposed. The bird took a glance at Demitri and instead attacked him on this turn. She winced in pain for him, noticing the damage that had been dealt to his back, tearing through his shirt to leave a mark on his flesh. Retaliating again with a firey blast, Lena chose to do the same, pulling another flamable device from her bag and launching it as hard as she could at the bird. The metal connected, emitting an explosion of fire that hit just seconds after Demitri's. The two attacks were almost connected and should have caused significatn damage to their attacker, but it was just too difficult to tell. At least she was up and still healthy enough to fight on, as was Demitri.

The continued flame onslaught had left the creature in a state that it could no longer continue the fight. Falling from the sky the Avian Chaos lay motionless on the ground, no longer able to terrorize ramdom travelers who entered Guardia's forests.
