Hetake by Three
The Guardia Forest was growing gloomy in the twilight, the trees swaying as a heavy wind blew steadily through the tree top canopy. The wind's howl drew the Hetake from their rest, seeking the coming rains. Startled by the approach of two adventurers the Hetake went into a battle frenzy. The first beast pushed itself forward throwing it's fungal body into Jonas. Following suite the second creature eyed the yellow tunic wearing man and slung itself into Jonas. The last Hetake had it's eyes on Soren, pushing off with it's powerful lets and flying at the man, but it was far to slow.

The forest was dark, wind ripping though the trees, a faint twilight filtering down from above. Walking abreast Jonas and Soren were exploring, the forests around Truce had been a favorite of both boys when they were children and now as adults they sought more interesting finds. With the smell of rain in the air, Jonas was not surprised when they were ambushed by three Hetake, two of which had targeted him from the get go and bashed into him hard enough to send him to the ground.
” Jesus man! Looks like we're going to have some fun after all! ” Jonas spoke as he picked himself up, the leaves crunching under his body weight as he did so. ” One at a time! ” He shouted back to Soren while unclipping his blade from the harness and rushing forward.
With his bronze edge free Jonas used his speed advantage and dashed directly towards the first creature, holding his blade perpendicular to his body he began to spin furiously and sliced into the Hetake with his cyclone attack. |

As the gloom of twilight began to set in upon the forest, Soren and Jonas came upon a trio of Hetake as they explored the forests near Truce Village. Once they caught sight of the pair the beasts immediately went into a frenzy, the first two launching themselves at Jonas and tackling him with the full brunt of their weight. “Jonas!” Soren exclaimed, concern for his friend clear in his voice. Once the third began to move he knew that he couldn’t afford to worry for his friend at that moment. Soren shifted his weight slightly and easily avoided the beast’s attack.
Soren’s expression quickly changed from concern into a cold determination, his normally intimidating glare even more so now. Not far away from him his friend executed an astounding flourish, violently hacking at the first beast with a devastating full-circle slash. Soren didn’t waste any time in moving to follow up, using his left thumb to release the katana from its sheath and pulling the weapon free with his right. As he did so he swung the weapon in a devastating rising arc, meant to further wound the first Hetake.

Hetake by Three
The Hatakes were only enraged more by the succesful strikes from their targets. All three had locked onto Jonas, fearing his powerful technique. Launching one after the other all three rammed Jonas, the final attack taking it's toll, dealing critical damage.

As Jonas had come to a stop he realized his attack has drawn attention to himself, which had left Soren open but sent the creatures into even more of a rage. In succession all three Hetake took their run towards Jonas, and one after one each ram attack had struck him harder eventually throwing the young man to the dirt. Drops of rain started from above, the sound of thousands of small drops hitting the leaves above, slowly making their way into bigger drops which rained around Jonas and Soren.
” Ugg, man these things hit hard, I'm alright though let's just lessen their numbers then we'll show them. ” Jonas spoke in reply to his friend's concern, his body aching as he picked himself up from the ground, mud smearing on his knees and hangs. With his composer regained Jonas shook of the pain and focusing on the same enemy sent himself and his blade circling like a cyclone once more striking the first Hetake and putting it near death. |

Soren waited for the opportune moment to continue his assault, his katana held low behind him with the lengthy blade mere inches from the ground. In the midst of the fight it had begun to rain at some point, though Soren was too focused upon their battle to give it more than a passing thought. Once the trio of monsters began their next round of attacks Soren burst into motion, aware that with their fixation upon Jonas it was up to him to exploit their defenses. “Understood!” Soren called out to his friend as while circling behind the beasts, slowing his pace once he was almost in position.
Jonas was quick to execute yet another brilliant flourish, drawing the simple creature’s full attention. Now that the time had come Soren flew forward in determined sprint, his heavy footfalls sending splashes of water into the air with every step. Soren thrust his weapon forward with all his might, intent upon piercing the beast clean through in order to finish the it off.

The watched one of their own fall, this was painful for the creatures, they were social in nature, sticking together from birth. With their comrade fallen the two creatures each eyed one of their foe. The first Hetake reared back and allowed it's great weight to rall into Soren, while the second attempting to do the same was unable to strike Jonas.

Jonas moved swiftly as he watched the first Hetake fall and the second as swiftly as possible rear back and fall into Soren. Expecting the same he jumped back quickly as the second creature attempted to attack. Never stopping Jonas watched to make sure Soren was alright and one satisfied he readied himself for another attack.
” We'll that's one down, you okay? ” Jonas asked as he moved around Soren, deciding that it was still best if they focused on defeating ne creature at a time. Though he was feeling fatigued he did not let this stop him from once again holding his blade fully out stretched and with a quick succession of turns sending a whirling cyclone of a attack into the second Hetake. |

Soren found that his blow had struck true, piercing the beast clean through and leaving it skewered upon the length of the blade. Immediately he set upon removing the katana from the beast, from within the beast, which left him vulnerable to attack. In a fury the second Hetake suddenly reared back, crashing into Soren before he could even think to react. When the creature struck him the force of the blow sent the air from his lungs, and he crashed into the muddy ground below in a sprawled heap. In the midst of the attack he had lost his weapon, which now lay some feet away resting in the muck.
For a short time he simply laid there in a daze after the monster’s surprise attack. Soren only snapped out of it when he heard Jonas’ voice, though it took him a few moments more for his senses to return in full. “I’m fine,” he quickly declared while scrambling to his feet. Not even a moment later he darted over to fetch his weapon from the muck while Jonas launched a devastating counter attack. Soren charged the beast to follow up on his ally’s attack, swinging in a deadly horizontal arc which would cut deep.

The successive attacks from Jonas and Soren were started to take their tole on the Hetake, though they did not realize this to blind with fury. Using was speed the creatures had the second and third Hetake zeroed in on Soren, and rushed forward but the young man had put to great of a distance and he was able to avoid their bum rush.

Jonas' head was spinning, the round after round of cyclone attacks was setting in and he knew he would soon have to stop. As his vision settled and he caught sight of the two remaining fungi he could see that Soren was okay and was not surprised when he was able to completely avoid the combined attack the two creatures had tried and failed to use.
” They're just to slow for us, let's put another one of these over sized mushrooms down. ” Jonas spoke, now clearly enjoying the thrill and adventure of combat. Feeling settled and knowing that he was behind the enemy he readied his now trusty bronze edge. Following the beasts movements Jonas started dashing, picking up sped as he rank across the fallen leaves that littered the old forest ground. Leaping into the air he pulled his blade around, twisting his entire body and flinging himself through the air in a fantastic show of skill. |

Soren was prepared for an attack this time, watching intently as the Hetake closed the distance between them. They meant to tackle him with their combined weight, perhaps even to pin him down, but his own agility proved far too much for them. In a sudden frenzy of motion he shifted his weight and easily side-stepped the monsters, taking a few steps back for good measure as Jonas flew into the second beast with yet another spinning slash.
It was glaringly obvious that Jonas’ technique had brought the beast to death’s door; all that was left was to finish it. They would need to end this soon, and Soren was intent on doing just that. ‘I’m not sure how much longer Jonas can continue, it’s obvious that he’s in rather poor condition.’ Soren closed the gap between them in an instant, coming upon the beast’s side with a deadly look about him. Once he was in position he took hold of his weapon with both hands and brought it down in an overhead slash meant to kill the beast.

Fear had set in for the final Hetake, who had now watched two of it's own be cut down by the two adventurers that had stumbled into the forest. Rage present the last creature did all it could to survive, targeted the weakened Jonas with a ram that the young man could not avoid.

Jonas was sent flying backwards by the Hetake's ram attack, his body just not able to hold as the creature of the fungi's size put all of it's weight into an attack. Knowing that Soren would fear his health Jonas pulled himself up from the mud quickly, again smearing his tunic and pants as he regained himself.
” It's two on one now. ” Said to the Hetake, his eyes leering from across the forest clearing at the final attacker. He knew he was worn out, he would no longer have the energy to throw his body around as he had for most of the encounter but he could still do his part. Blade held up, Jonas charged and brought the cutting edge down swiftly, putting his full force behind the slash. |

Soren could only watch as the lone Hetake charged at Jonas, ramming into him and sending him crashing into the mud. There was no longer any doubt that Jonas was in need of a respite from the beast’s assault. Even though Jonas was quick to get back on his feet, Soren couldn’t shake the thought that it was only a display of bravado. If the monster continued to attack Jonas it was likely he wouldn’t be able to continue with the battle; something had to be done about that.
“I have your back, Jonas. Take a moment to catch your breath.” Soren assured his friend as he calmly moved between Jonas and the monster, his weapon held out toward the Hetake threateningly. Despite the unwieldy size of his katana he showed no difficulty using the weapon with only one arm; an idea that was reinforced when he easily slashed at the beast. Soren kept his left arm slightly extended in front of Jonas, in order to offer his friend the chance to recuperate. “Once you see an opportunity take it, but be careful. I’d rather not have to finish this on my own.”

The final Hetake could see the weakness and fatigue in Jonas and continued it's pursuit of some kind of victory. Powering ahead it reared back as it closed the distance and allowed it's massive weight to fall into Jonas with a ram like attack.

Jonas was unsurprised by the Hetake's desire to see him finished, he was after all the most injured of the two. His fatigue was growing and he knew he would not be able to carry on like this for ever, however he was still strong enough to fight on and he would not ask Soren for aide unless it was dire. Nodding to his friend's words of encouragement Jonas picked himself up again, a nagging urge for it to be the last time was pervasive now, he would push on and do what he could.
” I'mn fine, just worn out, I haven't been in a battle like this in some time. I'll manage though, just keep hacking at the damn thing, clearly they aren't that tough. ” Jonas replied to Soren, before throwing his shoulders back and heading around the creatures back, using his superior speed to get an open swipe at the Hetake. Leveling his sword as he swung Jonas struck the fungi in the rear and plotted his movements to distance himself from the creature. |

Soren couldn’t keep the beast’s attention away from Jonas, and it charged at his friend once more. In spite of his best efforts the monster was easily able to shove him out of the way, leaving Jonas exposed to further attack. It hadn’t managed to physically wound him when it forced him aside, though he couldn’t deny the blow to his pride. Such was obvious in his current expression as he clenched his teeth, brow furrowed in frustration. Normally he was a rather gentle person, but the concentrated attacks against his friend and the blow to his pride put him on edge.
“If that’s what you want,” Soren quietly acknowledged while carefully moving to a more advantageous position. Once he was opposite Jonas, the beast between the two of them, he waited until his friend started to launch an attack. Soren took only a few steps forward before thrusting his weapon toward the beast while Jonas hacked at it.. Combined with the considerable size of his katana his one-handed wield style allowed him to stab the beast from quite a distance; though he couldn’t deny that the wound was only a shallow one.

The rain was pooring down harder now, making it's way through the upper canopy in a downpoor. The final Hetake was weakened, it's fatigue was also showing, it was becoming aware that it was out numbered. Focusing on Jonas it rammed again, hoping to do as much damage as possible.

Another attack had once again flug Jonas backwards, though he was able to keep his balance and not fall to the mud soaked forest ground. Looking upwards he cursed the weather, the footing was getting worse and worse but the Hetake seemed to have no trouble, in fact he could swear it was moving better. Waving off Soren who he thought may come to his aide he raised his blade up, grasping the hilt with both hands as it was becoming slick.
” It's this damn weather, it's harder to move, but look at it, it's clearly just as wounded as I am, push on. ” He spoke, hoping to reassure his friend who had up to this point mostly been ignored by the enemies, as if they had some kind of beef to settle with Jonas and Jonas only. Pulling his weapon back, the edge gleaming and refracted the little light left he jerked hard as he darted, all be it slower than normal, towards the final creature, slashing it across the back. |
