  Scenario: The Wayfarers

Jonas moved towards Peter, taking deep breaths as his body tried to recuperate the oxygen expended defeating the Stone Imp at such a high altitude. Before he could speak Jonas found himself encapsulated in a green aura which seemed to penetrate his wounds and through Peter's mastery of the arcane arts restore his original vitality. As the Aura dissipated Jonas slowly returned his sword to it's harness and nodding to his friend motioned for them to continue onward.
” I'll never adventure without a mage again, thank you Peter. ” Jonas said as he reached the far end of the cavern, his hands again instinctively feeling the rough unhewn rock of the natural cave that lead off deeper into the innards of Mt. Woe. ” Let's continue on our way, that mythical kingdom awaits us! ” Jonas continued, feeling his spirits rising.
The second passage seemed to wind on for ages, it's incline going from descent back to ascent when ahead Jonas spotted a small dot of light around the same time as the frigid cold air from outside found him again. Jonas knew this meant they would be returning to the outside soon enough, subconsciously tensing himself to conserve heat.

Peter smiled, glad his remaining powers could still be of some use. “I'd hate to fight without your blade leading the charge.” Prior to the failed experiment, there were not many wizards that would dare go against Peter. Now, Peter felt like a goldfish in a vast ocean in this time. The thought of floating an island as a prison was never something Peter would have thought to even attempt. The mages of this time must be fierce.

Following behind Jonas, Peter showed equally high spirits, until the light at the end of the cave came into view. Unfortunately, the mythical kingdom wasn't in this cave, meaning they would need to leave again. Moving a fireball near the two adventurers, Peter looked to Jonas,
“You'd think that if they could float in island, at least they could keep it warm.”

Peter's words struck Jonas as they neared the exit to the cave, he had yet to really grasp the concept that someone may have levitated this massive mountain on purpose. He wondered how and why someone would do such a thing, coming to a conclusion that a person whose magic was strong enough to levitate an entire mountain was not someone he especially wanted to tangle with.
” Perhaps they have left it as cold as the rest of the planet at this time for a reason, to keep people like us from climbing it's heights and entering their magic kingdom. ” Jonas found himself responding to Peter, a sudden sense of duty coming over him, connecting with the people in the small villages below doing their best to find shelter from the cold.
As Jonas moved onward, climbing the ascending rocky passage towards the light the cold grew more and more, Jonas could feel it biting his face as he reached out and grasped the outer rock face of the caves exit and pulled himself out into the cold. The wind was blowing snow horizontally as he exited the cave, shielding his eyes from the bitter cold. Ahead Jonas looked past a rocky pathway which lead to the edge of a cliff where another iron chain was anchored, connecting to a smaller floating island. Jonas followed the chain with his eyes to this out cropping of floating land, seeing it to would lead them along yet another link of metallic chain up higher towards the peak of Mt. Woe.
” Come on Peter, we have to cross these links while we're still generally warm, the summit doesn't look too far off. ” Jonas said as he started to trudge through the deep snow towards the anchored chain.

Drawing his cloak around him tightly, Peter grinned through teeth kept together to keep in all the warmth he can, “Just makes me want to overcome the challenges more to see what they are capable of.” Challenge had always kept Peter moving towards greatness. Being a mage from a time of very little mages, Peter needed to find way to challenge himself as there were few that had the abilities to do so. The floating island and frigid temperature were seen as just a trial to be able to meet such great mages.

“Agreed. Wouldn't want to be caught by anything out in this cold.”
The climate may be more challenging than any fiend out there. A twitch of Peter's rabbit ears signalled that they thought Peter may be bringing bad omens to the group. Bundling his cloak around his rabbit ears that seem to continue to seek the cold, Peter climbed behind Joans towards the next island

  Scenario: The Wayfarers

The Arctic wind howled and gusted, it's strength enough to halt Jonas' forward progress, forcing him to shield his face with his arms ahead of him. As Jonas stood statuesque he mulled Peter's statement and knew that his friend was right, but worried that nothing could be done to prevent such events from happening, after all this mountain was wild and imbued with powerful magic that allowed it to levitate, forcing it to literally be chained to the ground below.
” We should be prepared for that possibility none the less. ” Jonas found himself responding as the wind began to let up and The anchor point of the chain was within reach, the massive links of chain extending over a seemingly endless drop towards a smaller outcropping of levitated rock. ” Quickly Peter before the wind picks back up! ” Jonas exclaimed as he grasped the steel link with his hands then nested his foot safely in its eye and began to climb.
Jonas was surprised how favorable the conditions had remained for several minutes as he scaled the chain, it's angle slightly upwards towards the rocky outcropping. As he cleared the horizon of the smaller island his heart sunk and he froze in place, forgetting the perilous position he was currently in as he caught sight of the fallen figure in the center of the floating island, the light haze of weak breath visible in the cold air. Surrounding the cloaked figure were two fiends, their bodies consisting of rocky backs which seemed to be boulder-like, and they were closing in for the kill.
” Peter! We've got trouble, let's move! ” Jonas belted out as he took one final step on the massive chain and pulled himself onto the small island.

The wind howled as Peter climbed up the chain. Without anything to block the wind, it seemed like the temperature had dropped several degrees. Bundling his cloak around his entire body, only the upper part of Peter's face was uncovered, and unfortunately his ears. Peter could only see the Jonas and the chain that was his past. His rabbit ears jumped upward in alarm due to Jonas' alarm. Being unable to see what Jonas meant, Peter moved with new vigor, no idea what new troubles were upon us. Peter looked at the cloak figure and saw himself and couldn't help but want to help, “Quick, we need to help.” Peter sprung into action, his fireball circling around him, ready to launch forward.

Jonas' mind had disregarded the bone chilling cold as he sprung into action. thrusting himself upwards with a massive push from the last link of chain. At his core he knew that time was of the essence, nobody could stand this cold for long, especially if they were injured. Feeling his boots touch solid ground Jonas had already freed his blade from it's sheath, with a second massive thrust he planned to close the gap between he and the fiends quickly.
” We've got the jump on them Peter! ” Jonas yelled back to his friend who was right behind him. ” Let's use that to our advantage! ” He finished his original thought as the Rubble's slowly began to turn from the fallen figure towards the new attackers.
Jonas wasted no time getting in close on the first Rubble, tightening the grip on his blade's hilt as he moved. Summoning a surge of stamina to finish, Jonas erupted in a burst of speed that sent him in a half arc with his blade, knowing that creatures with such natural armor would likely be able to take a beating.

Peter's fireball circled quicker and quicked around Peter, it's orbit becoming bigger with each full rotation. Thrusting his hand forward, the fireball flew through the air. The enemies looked like they could take a beat and wanting to conserve strength for the journey ahead, Peter sent the fireball to hit the same target as Jonas right after his attack, hoping to take the enemy out quickly, “Try to draw the enemies away from him.” Peter hoped the figure could make it till the enemies were defeated cause Peter wasn't skilled enough to bring someone back from the dead.

The Rubbles turned slowly from their downed prey, startled by the surprise attacks. A cold wind gusted across the small levitated island, whipping up the snow around them as it did so. The first fiend took the force of both attacks, the fire almost powerful enough to stagger the creature. Sensing their attackers meant business both creatures moved to strike their most feared of the two, the mage. Moving quickly enough for such a heavy creature they simultaneously called at Peter.

The wind had kicked up significantly in the few moments since Jonas and Peter had exicuted their surprise attack on the unsuspecting rock fiends, meaning they would have even less time to rescue the injured person.
” My thoughts exactly, let's wipe these things out as quickly as we can. ” Jonas responded to Peter's suggestion, knowing that his friend was right, they could not risk letting this fight drag on. ” Whoa nice one! ” Jonas continued as he shielded himself from Peter's fire attack which seemed very effective on the ice dwelling fiend.
Stepping back to set up his next attack Jonas watched as Peter moved fluidly through the rock fiend's attacks, dodging swipe after swipe of their claws. Sensing these creatures were quite slow Jonas knew he could risk staying in close, at least close enough that he would have time to avoid any of Peter's return attacks. Kicking up snow as he moved Jonas shuffled in close to the first Rubble and with a twist of his body he lunged his sword into the backside of the monster with an arcing circle.

Struggling to move daftly in the snow, it worked in Peter's favor that the enemies weren't fast moving. Peter moved out of the way of the unharmed rubble and used the force of a fireball to throw the first rubble off balance, causing its attack to go wide. “Doubt he'll make it much longer.” Said Peter not seeing much of any movement from the down figure. With two snaps, two fireballs surrounded Peter and began rotating, ready to be unleashed on the foes.

Peter's fireball scorched the area around the first Rubble, finishing it off in a literally blaze of glory. The second armored foe, sensing the strength of it's enemies hesitated for a moment before launching into a series of physical slashes with it's razor sharp claws, doing it's best to at least harm Jonas before it soon met the same fate as it's downed ally.

The cold tundra was biting as Jonas found himself knocked backwards to the ground from the force of the Rubble's attack. Picking himself up Jonas smirked in response to Peter's comments, as the first Rubble had indeed fallen to the ground defeated just moments after his friend had made them. His eyes moving past Peter to the fallen figure Jonas noticed the wisps of breath escaping the covered person had slowed, they would have to move fast or risk losing this traveler to the cold.
” Peter, we have to hurry, that person isn't going to survive this cold much longer! ” The seriousness of his voice carried as he shouted across the small levitated island to Peter. ” Let's work together on this one! ” Jonas continued, the same weight in his tone as before.
Hoping that his suggestion would take Jonas intended on bridging the distance between he and the remaining Rubble quickly. With a quick dash a leap he found himself in the air, raising his shimmering steel blade high above his head with both hands, giving Peter enough time to enchant his sword with fire.

Nodding to Jonas, Peter knew what he meant without further instructions. “Magic and Might together!” Claapping his hands together, Peter breathed deeply and gathered his magic between his hands. Seperating his hands, a flame grew to to fill the gap between his hands until a flame roughly the size of a heart burned brightly. Thrusting both hands forward at once, the flame flew towards the guard of Jonas' blade. Upon contact, the flame twisted up around the sword, roaring through the artic wind.

Catching his breath quickly, Peter rushed towards the downed figure, knowing Jonas could handle the rest. Summoning a small flame with a snap of his finger that hovered over the cloaked figure, attempting the warm it up. Unsure exactly what was wrong, Peter put both hands, palms out, a few inches from the figure and a green aura spread over the figure,
“Stay with us.” Peter murmured not wanting to see anyone die that he could save.

Jonas found himself gasping for air after landing the finishing blow of the remaining fiend, feeling the effects of the bitter cold and high altitude of Mt. Woe. Shaking off his fatigue Jonas quick moved in with Peter, feeling the warmth of Peter's flame as he got closer and instinctively pulled the cloak from the figure's head revealing the red face of a young woman, her eyes shut tight but breathing.
” We have to get her out of this wind. ” Jonas said as he reached under the woman and carefully lifted here from the cold snow covered ground. ” Up there, shelter from the wind! ” Jonas motioned upwards across another massive iron chain that connected back to the main mass of Mt. Woe where there was a deep enough cut into the rock wall that could shelter them from the winds and allow them to warm the young woman up. ” Peter, you're going to have to cross ahead of me and help me steady myself. Do your best to shield the wind for us. ” Jonas stressed the last sentence, knowing that he wouldn't have the use of both hands while trying to carry the young woman.

Why was this person up here? Peter asked himself looking at the woman. Peter thought if someone were to be here would prepare for the travel before hand. “Keep close.” Peter bundled his cloak and kept a fireball circling around Jonas and another around Peter.

The wind hit Peter with a fierce blow. The higher they got, the worse the wind seem to become. Trying to keep Jonas and the woman directly behind him to keep the wind from hitting them directly. Stepping back on the main mass of Mt. Woe, Peter stopped in front of the shallow cave and allowed Peter and the woman to enter first. Combining both fireballs that hovered into one, Peter caused the one flame to blaze strong between the three. Hypotherma can cause damage quickly and Peter did his best to warm her up,
“Any sign she's conscious?” Peter said looking towards the stranger.

The howling gusts of chilling winds came through in powerful bursts that hurled snow and other debris through the air as Jonas, Peter, and the mysterious woman began their ascending climb of the second iron linked chain that would take them back to the main mass of Mt. Woe. Jonas had positioned the woman over his right shoulder, using his right hand to hold her tight again him while he climbed with his feet and left hind to steady himself. Jonas stayed close behind Peter has they made hate across the gap, doing his best to use his body as a shield from the wind and to keep his mind focused on the task at hand. Sensing they were reaching the end of the climb he pushed on leaping finally with a powerful burst back onto solid ground.
” Quickly Peter, into that alcove, perhaps there will be enough brush for you to get a stronger fire blazing. ” Jonas replied as he moved into the sheltered recessed niche that seemed to tunnel into the rocky wall of the mountain. ” She's breathing but it's still weak, we need to get her warm then I'm sure we can stir her. ” Jonas continued as he sat the woman down, making sure to keep her wrapped tightly as Peter and he searched the recess for enough brush to get the fire going.

With Jonad and the woman safely inside the alcove, Peter moved in after them and began gathering anything and everything Peter could use to create a fire. Peter's magical fire was draining and a natural one would be able to keep the three much hotter. With an adequate amount of brushed gathered, Peter put the materials gathered together and set them ablaze. Peter released his magical flame to save his strength. The wind rushed past the alcove entrance, but the flame kept the three warm.

Wrapping his arm around the stranger, Peter kept her upright and near the flame. Gripping her wrist, Peter checked her pulse, weak, but it was getting stronger as her temperature increased. Looking over at Jonas, Peter's rabbit ears stood up then flopped down like a shrug,
“Guess all we can do now is wait.”

” Seems that's the case Peter, hopefully. ” Jonas replied, slightly worried that if she did not regain consciousness they would either have to hunker down for the night or worst case attempt to descend the mountain back the way they had come, with her in tow, a prospect that Jonas did not want to even think about.
” Cr..Crono? ” The young woman suddenly spoke as she opened her eyes, though the were blurred, looking on Jonas. ” No, you're not Crono. ” She rubbed her eyes, seeing now that she had mistaken Jonas.
” Did you say Crono? ” Jonas asked as he shot a glance to Peter, having long ago explained to his friend how he had arrived in the past, much like the heroes of time itself had ten years prior.
” If you're not.. Oh no! Something must have happened! ” The young woman began to squirm and attempt to break away from Jonas and Peter, tossing her dark brown hair as he pushed away frantically.
” Calm down it's okay! Was Crono here?! ” Jonas was becoming wrapped up in the frenzy himself, the idea that Crono may very well be nearby, perhaps even on his original quest had startled him, he needed to find out more.

Peter released his hold of the woman immediately, the fact that she had just regained consciousness in the arms of two strange men must have been a shook. Hearing the word “Chrono”, Peter looked over at Jonas and nodded, but knew that, that name was the cause for Jonas being overzealous. Placing his hand of Jonas' forearm, Peter smiled and spoke in a soft tone, “My name is Peter and this is Jonas. We found you unconscious in the snow being attacked by fiends. Why are you up in these mountains?” Peter hoped to calm the woman down. He knew she had no where to go, but she could always run back out in the snow and Peter didn't want that.
