The heat from the flames seemed to soak into Souji causing an uncomfortable feeling, but amplifing his power. He was disgusted by the wonton use of the power and how it ran amok. Power like this must be precise. Souji was able to cast a spell when his brother did, a smile crossed his face. He was getting stronger, his usual barrier was one of attack not defense. He knew his spell may get in the way so he watched to see how Freyr had improved. His little brother was finally finding his strength.

Mira left onto one of the lizards, attacking it's known weak points. Nearby she noticed others being attacked by those in her party. In the brief distraction, she was thrown off the lizard, but not harmed. Mira growled as she turned to look at the creature.

The Reptites moved with surprising dexterity for such stocky creatures. Their snarls showed pointed white teeth that gleamed in the hot sun that hung in the sky overhead. The creatures mostly seemed to flee, the purpose of the raid having been accomplished, though some remained in melee with villagers and other pursuers as they fled. A small group of the creatures brought up the rear and did their best to hold the advance of the Iokans, though trouble had appeared on their flank. ” What issss thisss?! ” One of the creatures was overheard, his reptilian tongue slithering his speech as the time travelers engaged. The resounding burst of ice shattering against one of the creatures echoed through the area and seemed to catch the others off guard, though the same effect was had on the few villagers that were still in pursuit. The effected Reptite stumbled backwards, his clawed hands grasping at his chest where the spell had struck. He snarled in pain as the others attempted to flee.
— Four Reptites are fleeing, the one hit by the ice spell has yet to flee. —
For the briefest of moments a cool burst of wind hit Jonas as Freyr cast ice on one of the Reptite invaders who neared Mira. He wondered if their attempt at disguise had just been cast aside, or if the Iokans had some understanding of magic, either way Freyr had set the precedent and Jonas saw no reason why, if pressed, he couldn't fall back on his own spells now as well. ” They're trying to escape, we can't let that happen. ” Jonas was heard saying, as he came up behind Mira and Freyr, his eyes glancing past the stunned Reptite to the group that was making haste for the river in the distance. Jonas' mind wandered to the stories he had read about Crono's adventure in 65 million BC, of the forest like maze that lay beyond the river, he did not want to lose sight of the Reptites. Raising his arms high into the air Jonas seemed for a moment to levitate as the wisps of puffy white clouds overhead began to condense and darken in a swirl directly above them. With a flash of blinding light and a thunderous boom a bolt of lightning arced down from above striking one of the fleeing creatures and leaving the others in a momentary daze. The clouds dispersed as quickly as the had condensed and the sun quickly broke through once more. ” Mira, I expect you can handle this brute on your own. Jonas said flatly, completely aware of her combat abilities, as he brushed past trying to catch the fleeing party before they regained their senses.
The cold blast from Freyr's left hand hit its mark before he realized his grave error. The crystalline shattering of ice against the creature's hardened skin created a racket louder than he could have imagined, drawing startled glances from creatures and villagers alike. Frozen to the spot, not by any spell of ice but with utmost embarrassment, his eyes darted quickly between his party mates. He hoped none of the villagers had seen from where the spell had come or been witness to his slip, elsewise he feared Mira's swift retribution. Watching the creature stumble backwards, he waited in vain for it to fall over backwards. Instead, it snarled. His eyes widened in fear. Noticing Jonas raising his arms to the sky, he wondered what kind of pagan gods this strange man felt it necessary to appease in this trying moment. “Hey… now's now the time for that!” As they seemed to be enveloped by shadow overhead, it dawned on him that there might be more to this than meets the eye. A thundering crack and a flash of light struck the group of fleeing creatures. “…Magic? Impossible!” He could not believe that such a character wielded that sort of power. The creeping sensation suddenly returned at his back, urging him to whip around. One of the hideous creatures faced him, teeth bared, ready to strike. He cowered and covered his head with one arm, closing his eyes and desperately brandishing his mop in front of him.
Souji looked out at the battlefield to see the magical lightning bolt and smirked towards Jonas the seeming caster, “Glad to know our art didn't die out.” Then his face went stern as a monster attempted to attack Freyr, “O Gnowee, I have found thy child. Keep him within your grasp.” The words seemed slurred at the speed they came out while a ring of fireball surrounded the imp. Each fireball torched up burning the hand of the imp and making him drawn within. Souji stormed over to the imp who was in a dome of fire, which lower as he got close, the fire mirrored in Souji's eye. “Your kind knows nothing of the power of the power, but I will teach YOU, while you show us where your kind comes from.” Souji caused the fire torches to blaze high once again then the torches in front of him went back to their fireball form. He never looked at his brother as he talked, always looking at the imp hoping fear would keep him from acting.
There never was a dull moment around these people. That was a fact that Demitri had quickly learned, and it was no different even this far into the past. Part of the young inventor had wished Freyr had left Mira the way she had been, as her anger at her new appearance greatly amused him, but he guessed that'd be bad for morale if Mira was too busy beating the snot out of Freyr to concentrate on potential enemies.
In any case, whatever thought was being given to their disguises was quickly replaced by alarm as the obvious sounds of some sort of raid echoed through the forest. It had to be coming from Mira's village, and along with the others Demitri took off in a sprint towards the village, a black smoke stack serving as his beacon. As they got close, the signs of a raid were clear, and a small group of reptile-like creatures were making their escape after a successful raid.
We certainly can't be having them leave so soon. We haven't even gotten to party yet, Demitri thought to himself. Mira went on ahead, and from there the group seemed to seperate. Demitri himself kept within the tall grass and sprinted within it using it for cover. The inventor stayed in the brushed for as long as it ran along the village, and only exited as he neared his targets. Staying clear of the chaos of the raided village helped him move quickly, and as the other seemed to lock on to targets of their own, Demitri selected the one fleeing the furthest. Burn!
Throwing his right hand forward in a sweeping motion, a ball of fire erupted from his palm and towards the front reptite.

Mira gave a sharp nod to Jonas before leaping towards the lizard. She saw him trying to get up, but she landed with a strong kick. After that, she saw he was down for good. The rest of the Reptites seemed to be trying to flee. Now Mira relaxed a little and looked to the village. There was a great deal of chaos within. People preparing to fight or looking for loved ones. The magic seemed to have them quite alarmed, and she could see the confusion about the new arrivals.
“We friends!” Mira called out to assure them, along with making the gesture of peace. “Reptite common enemy!”
This seemed to get more Iokans to come out.
“Mira!”
Mira froze for a second. That was a voice she hadn't heard in almost twenty years. Mother? She felt a strange sense of joy at seeing her again, but fear of being caught.
“Mira!”
However, she quickly saw that her mother wasn't paying any attention to her. She was running around, searching.
Mira seemed to remain frozen for a few seconds, caught in her emotions. Finally, she shook it off and tried to remember where her younger self would be. “Uh…” Maybe…? She looked around, finding tracks in seconds, then pulled a young teenager out of the grass. Mira grinned wildly. It was her! Not quite yet an adult, and free of tattoos. Then she realized she was scaring herself.
