Just as he came within reach the man stumbled back, falling onto a nearby desk and breaking it in the process. It was a stroke of luck, one that had actually saved the poor man's life. “Are you an idiot?” Raiden asked mockingly, suppressing his desire to laugh at the fool. As he calmly approached the prone figure, his eyes chanced upon a note. Raiden crouched and picked it up, quickly reading the details before putting it in his suit pocket. “Today must be your lucky day, mine too at that.” Closing the gap between them, he stood over the man with cold hatred in his eyes; he directed his broken blade over the man's chest before slamming it down with all his might.

“Seriously thought this would be a bit more of a challenge.” Raiden sighed in relief, grimly removing his materia from the broken blade before standing up. There wasn't going to be much point in carrying it with him any longer, no matter the sentimental value of the weapon. If it hadn't been shattered it would have been easy to adjust his attack and kill the man earlier despite everything, but in the state it was in that just wasn't possible–it didn't have nearly enough reach.

Raiden stared at his broken weapon for a moment longer, left embedded deep in Woods' chest. “Sorry, old friend, but at least this way it will send a message.” He said solemnly, directing the words at his broken Shamshir. Following those words he turned and left, making way for the meeting spot: they were going to have to adjust their plans if they intended to be successful in the ambush….
—————————————————————————–
OOC: Raiden needs a new weapon (a Katana) just leave the details of it to me. I'd take some Materia too (I'll let you decide on what materia).

  Kalm Before The Storm
Tsuna strapped his cane in a loop on the back ofhis pants and carried both the axe and sledge hammer, hoping they would be useful in the mines in some way. If they had enough time, Tsuna planned on setting traps to limit their numbers in some way. It wasn't as satisfying as killing them himself, but it did kill them and allows Tsuna to kill more, so he would allow it. Following Cloud out of the smith, Tsuna stayed a little behind and watched their sides as they walked. It may be a small town, but ShinRa still had influence here so he was alert, “Good plan. Hopefully, he didn't run into any trouble to delay him.” Tsuna knew Raiden could handle himself, it was just a matter of time. Time is a fickle bitch. One second it's on your side, the next its not. Tsuna knew all too well about that due to his sleep. He still didn't even know what year it was. At the beginning he asked, but no one would answer so he gave up asking. It was just a number anyway, but he would like to know how long those bastard put him to sleep.

Forgot to edit my post to add in the weapon upgrade, but if a weapon and materia is available I'd like that as well. The materia doesn't matter to me.

Chapter 3: Kalm Before the Storm

The warmth of the Sun's rays could begin to be felt as Cloud and Tsuna reached the doors to the inn, the dim light slowly bringing the town of Kalm to life. Cloud knew that being out in the open for to long now would be more dangerous and though he had hoped to find Raiden waiting for them instead made up his mind that they would have to go find him.
” He's not here, and it will be very active around these parts soon, I think we should probably attempt to meet Raiden on his way back here. ” Cloud said calmly as he turned to face Tsuna who seemed to be deep in thought himself.
Moving normally Cloud shifted the gear he was carrying to his other arm as he started walking again, in the opposite direction they had come from, knowing that Raiden had set off that way in search for the Shinra building.

Raiden left the Shinra building, moving quickly as the knowledge that time was working against them nagged at him. Before long he chanced upon the others, and broke into a jog at the sight of them while waving his left hand into the air as a form of greeting. Once the distance had been closed he reached into his suit and pulled out the note, holding it out in Cloud's direction with a grim look in his eyes. “We've gotta move fast if we're going to do this.”

Tsuna followed behind Cloud until they came upon Raiden who was hurrying to them in haste, something had gone wrong. The note confirmed what Tsuna had already suspect, not exactly what he expected though. Tsuna was urged to throw down the sledgehammer and pickaxe in frustration, but thought out wise as he turned towards Cloud. They may yet come in handy, “Where are those Chocobos you mentioned?” Tsuna vaguely remembered passing some of their way here, but couldn't remember their exact location. Wasting time running around for giant birds was not high on his agenda at the moment and time was not on their side.

Chapter 3: Kalm Before the Storm

The sun began to break the horizon as Cloud caught sight of Raiden coming towards them in a jog, his body language not strong. Stopping as his friend met with them Cloud took a quick look around to make sure they were alone before grabbing the note and trying to make sense of it. Cloud's mind was quickly filled with possibilities, the one most present was that they probably still had time to get to the mines and at least use them as a means to make their attack on the squad of SOLDIER more managable, it seemed to be their only option.
” If it's out friends, and it's the only chance we have to save them before they get to Midgar then we have to take the chance, right? ” Knowing that he felt that it was, but wanting to make sure that his allies were of the same mind as he. ” We can rent Chocobos at the town stables and still make it to the mines in less than two hours, we should be able to still get the jump on them. ” Cloud said, doing his best to reassure himself as the familair feelings of failure started to creep into the back of his mind.
Knowing now that time was of the essence Cloud handed Raiden the cloth covered Mythril Katana and a pouch containing two antidotes and pointed in the direction of the city gate, they would have to make haste.

“You're damn right we're going!” he exclaimed vehemently, the words filled with every bit of conviction he could muster. If they worked together nothing would stand in their way, not even the elite of SOLDIER. Raiden couldn't help but think that, in part due to his fear that a moment of doubt could ruin everything. When his friend held out the cloth-covered object, Raiden took hold of it and slowly removed the cloth covering to reveal the weapon. “This is impressive,” he declared suddenly, carefully drawing the weapon a short distance out of its ornate sheath in order to take a peek at the blade. “It'll do nicely.”
“Now then,” Raiden began speaking while tying the weapon to his belt. “let's show 'em not to fuck with the underdogs.” Immediately he walked past his friends, heading in the direction of the city gate.

Tsuna followed quickly behind Raiden doing his odd jumping jog, not even ShinRa could cause Tsuna to lose his grace by running, but they had to get to the chocobos as quickly as possible. With ShinRa contingent arriving early then informed, the group would need to hussle to the mines. The city gate wasn't to far away and the stables couldn't be much further. Tsuna was one step closer to wrecking some havok on his former employeers.

Chapter 3: Kalm Before the Storm

The trek to the city gates was short, the three men doing their best to hustle without causing any suspicion to their presence. Cloud stopped as the arrived, making note of the people gathered around, all clearly miner types who were off to work. Glacing at the stables Cloud could see there was a small queue but it appeared most of the men would be headed that way via automobile, in the form of large transport trucks. All they could do was wait in line.
” This shouldn't take long, I'll go rent us three chocobos. ” The blonde said as he thumbed towards the queue before walking away and taking his place in line.
The line moved quickly and after no more than five minutes Cloud had returned with three harnessed chocobos in tail. Cloud had never been to fond of the giant birds, their bright yellow feathers sometimes beautiful from afar but in many cases the birds had a unpleasent smell, at least the ones you could rent.
” I hope you two know how to ride, we don't have time for lessons today. ” Cloud said as he placed his foot in his chocobo's harness and pushed himself up onto the back of the large bird, settling in and taking the reigns in hand. Looking out across the sweaping plains Cloud was taken with the beauty in the morning hours, he wondered if it was the last sunrise he would see.

Raiden went with his friends to the city gates, trying to avoid standing out too much. Upon their arrival, Cloud volunteered to be the one to wait in line and Raiden nodded his assent before walking over to a nearby wall and leaning against it. As he stood there he let his thoughts wander in an effort to pass the time, until Cloud returned with three Chocobo in tow. “Of course I know how to ride a Chocobo.” Raiden replied with a grin, approaching one of the two remaining Chocobo and climbing onto it. He easily led the Chocobo nearer to Cloud before speaking to his friend. “Don't worry too much, we've got your back.”

  Kalm Before The Storm
Riding a chocobo. In his haste to get his vengence, Tsuna forgot all about how he had to ride one. Never in his life had the scientist let him get some free time to playfully ride chocobos. Sure some were brought in and possibly used in experiments, but Tsuna had no idea to what ends, but animals were animals. And Tsuna knew animals.

Tsuna walked with a steady confidence towards the beast. CM-3 knew to show all animals he was the master, but not in a threatening way, that led to a fight. By giving them nothing to work with, a lot of animals will just give up. When the chocobo caught Tsuna's eyes, it attempted to skid away from Tsuna, but with a few quick steps, he was in CM-3's hands and stopped due to his penetrating gaze.

“I think I can get the hang of it.”
Simple sandel, just got to keep his balance. The harness was ease enough, pull to one side or the other, experimenting will tell him which way makes the chocobo go which way. Pulling full back should stop it short and hopefully leaning would tell the chocobo to go further. Tsuna only hoped they were pack animals and would stick together when given no other instructions.

Chapter 3: Kalm Before the Storm

Cloud waited patiently as his friends both ascended their chocobos, Raiden clearly more comfortable with riding the giant birds than Tsuna who would be getting a crash course in the art of chocobos. Satisfied that everyone was set Cloud nodded at Raiden who had seen the worry in Cloud's eyes, even though he had tried to hide it as best as possible. Without wasting another moment Cloud put pressure from his legs on both sides of his chocobo who instantly burst forward in nearly full sprint.
” The mines are south-east of here. ” Cloud yelled out as his chocobo darted off down a clearly beaten path that would take them directly to them.
The sun had now fully rising over the plains that covered much of the continent. The rays trickled across the rolling hills, reflecting from the millions of blades of grass which waved effortlessly in the cool morning wind. In the distance the mountain peaks reached for the sky, though not as dark or dire as those mountains where Cloud had come to know his allies. Cloud did is best to reign in his emotions as he would do with a chocobo, but his gut told him something was amiss.

For a moment he just watched Cloud charging forward upon his Chocobo, before turning to offer his friend some advice. “Just relax, Tsuna. They're friendly and smart, just give them a direction.” Raiden explained, then tightened his legs and the creature began to run forward with a loud kweh as it did so. Raiden could feel the morning wind against his face, and it brought a happy smile to his face. 'This is great, just like way back when.' he thought as he rode, just a short distance behind Cloud.

Nodding to Raiden's advice, Tsuna mounted the chocobo with a reasuring rub to the animal's neck. He leant forward and, with a soft kick from both of his feet to the animal's side, Tsuna and the chocobo were following right behind the other two. As CM-3, travelled and for once took appreciation for the outdoors and the wind in his face. Since birth, he had been nothing more than research material. He was never given time to experience the simple outdoors and even after his escape there hadn't been much time. The cool air was refreshing to Tsuna and shortly after taking out had to grab his hat that tried to fly off behind him. Riding chocobos, this was definately something Tsuna would try to do again.

Chapter 3: Kalm Before the Storm

Letting his mind wander Cloud did his best to remember the labyrinth of the Mythril Mines, knowing that some time in his past he had visited them, a feeling that had been hanging over him since reaching Kalm. This feeling was followed by a veil of darkness which sent chills up his spine, dread overtook him.
” I just hope we aren't too late. ” Cloud muttered to his friends, the fear in his voice clear and present. Cloud knew that any moment the silhouette of the Shinra squad could become visable against the mountain backdrop, and if that was the case they would likely be taken prisoner with their friends and returned to some secret laboratory in some back water like Nibelheim.
In this distance the mountains came closer with every passing moment, they would arrive soon.

“Then let's make sure we aren't!” he called out to his friends, urging his chocobo to go even faster. Just as he wanted, the chocobo leaned forward and broke into an impressive sprint. Raiden bent forward slightly, grinning madly as the wind crashed against him. Raiden breathed in deep, keeping a fixed gaze upon the horizon. Even though he didn't share Cloud's feeling of dread, he knew that time wasn't on their side. If they didn't hurry they would miss their chance, and that wasn't something they could let happen….

As Tsuna's mind drifted towards the simplier things of life, his chocobo began to veer off as well. Without proper training, Tsuna didn't know to always keep the reins in check and he let go slighty and in the run the slight drift became a sizable distance. Gripped the reins rightly, he urged the chocobo back onto path, but he was still a few paces behind his allies. Well if those two paces mattered, it was already too late. Tsuna rubbed his chocobo to show he was doing the right thing now. He wanted to hit the animal for its follies, but he knew it was like to be controlled. Showing what was right over what was wrong worked better. He only wish ShinRa knew that.

Chapter 3: Kalm Before the Storm

To Cloud it seemed as if the two hour passage had taken just moments, the terrain now hilly and dotted with trees as the chocobo's neared the end of the dirt road which would lead to the entrance to the Mythril Mines. Cloud was unsure what they would find but he knew that they should now be highly on the lookout for any sign of Shinra or wild beasts that had been known to be a hazard to the miners.
” I believe the mine entrance is just up ahead, perhaps we should find a place to tie the chocobos and continue on foot. ” Cloud spoke back to his friends as he pulled back on the reigns of the chocobo, coming to a stop. ” The ability to be more incognito might aide us. ” He finished as he hopped from the back of his chocobo and tied it to a nearby tree.
The entrance to the mines was rather plain, Cloud thought as he gazed at it from a distance, just noticing the damp murk that weaved in and out around the terrain, a safe distance from the road. Cloud had recalled mention of a large snake which inhabited this region, but all seemed safe and there was no sign of Shinra, all that was left was to cross the threshold and enter the labyrinth.

Raiden enjoyed the freedom that came with riding a chocobo, not to mention the nostalgia from his childhood it brought back. Despite the lengthy trip he hadn't given any thought to the passage of time, if anything, he felt slightly disappointed that the journey wasn't longer. “You're right,” he agreed while gently pulling back on the reins, urging his chocobo to a stop. When it did he lifted one leg over and slid off of the creature, his feet landing on the earth once more. “wasn't sure it would be such smooth sailing, but I can't say I don't appreciate the turn in our luck.” Raiden said as he lead the chocobo over towards Cloud, still holding tightly onto its reins.

Luck. It rang in his head as Tsuna descended the chocob. The ride had been the most enjoyable thing he had done, besides killing ShinRa, but the mention of the name killed the moment. His urge to grab his die became intense and the die called out to him, 'Take your chance, Tsuna. Chances are you'll be fine. Just take a roll.' Tsuna gripped the brim of his top hat as he put it onto his head and ran his finger across it to center himself and remove the voice. “Let's move as quick as we can without making much noise. I suspect noise travels well in these caves.” Said Tsuna as he tied off the chocobo and walked towards his friends.
