  Kalm Before The Storm
Tsuna slid across the ground after the attack by the giant serpent. The multiple attacks were starting to put a drain on him and pain rippled through his body. Even with his enhanced speed, Tsuna right hand moved slowly into his coat and pulled out a potion. “ShinRa would have loved to get their hands on this guy.” Tsuna grunted to himself as he raised to potion to his lips and drank with as much vigor as he could.

As his strength began to return to him, Tsuna raised his right hand and his die returned to him. His knees bent and his left hand grabbed his sword as he made his way back to his feet to fight this monstrosity.

Chapter 3: Kalm Before the Storm

Cloud landed steady even though the marshy ground around him was anything but. His eyes darting around he caught sight of Raiden who was on the offensive now and making quite a show of it. 'he's not bad…' Cloud allowed his mind a brief thought as he watched Raiden in action, marveling at the skill level required to become a Turk.
” Give that bastard hell! ” Cloud shouted as the crackle from the lightning jolted though the area, causing the hair on his neck to stand. Cloud watched intently, waiting for the right moment as the serpent lifted up it's hood casting a devilish shadow across the marsh. Cloud watched as it focused in to Tsuna, it seemed to have taking interest in him a lot so far. ” Tsuna, keep your guard up! ” Cloud shouted again, knowing that Tsuna would only be able to take so much and the thing didn't even seem harmed yet.
Gripping the hilt of his blade tightly Cloud took a run at the giant snakes back, leaping over it's lurching tail as it took a swing most surely at Tsuna who hopefully would have time to react. Cloud landed on the Zolom's back, and leaped upwards towards it's massive head twisting his body in a vortex that would land two successive strikes on it's upper region.

Raiden took the chance to observe the battlefield, breathing in the sights and sounds of their assault on the massive beast. First he noticed that the others were also in rough shape, though they put on a brave front. This couldn't go on indefinitely, they had to end this soon. Next, with a heavy heart, he came to the conclusion that their rampage against the serpent had done little more than make it angry. Following that his eyes scanned over the creature, trying to find any weakness that they might be able to exploit. It was in that moment he found what might very well become their ace in the hole; their attacks so far hadn't done a significant amount of damage, but they had covered the creature in minor injuries in several locations, and that was something they could abuse.

“Aim for anywhere we've already hurt it,” Raiden cried out to the others, moving towards the front of the creautre fast as his feet would take him. “poison it, make it bleed, whatever you can manage!” Once he reached his destination, off to the side and in front of the creature, he began to channel his lightning materia yet again. “If we can at least weaken it, we've got a chance to win this!” Raiden unleashed the magical torrent of electricity, the spell tearing through the air and closing in upon its intended target: the eyes of the Midgar Zolom. Not daring to risk the opportunity to blind the creature while its attention was focused upon Tsuna, he unleashed a second magical bolt of lightning without waiting to see if the first had even found its mark. It too was meant to blind the beast, just in case the first failed, though he wasn't sure either would strike true…

  Kalm Before The Storm
Tsuna attempted to throw up his arm to protect his body as the serpent's strike lashed across his unprotected body. His head shook as no other beast had caused before. His thoughts reeled as he lost unconsciousness for the brief moment he was in the air and until he hit another tree. The little air that was left in his lung was forced out as his eyes opened wide and his body crumpled to the ground. With the energy he could, Tsuna tossed up a little wave to his allies showing them to continue their assault. Tsuna tried to think, but any thought seemed to flutter out of one of his ears. He could still move, if only slightly, and decided to not attempt any movement till he regained some of his energy.

Chapter 3: Kalm Before the Storm

Righting his body in the air as he descended, Cloud came down with a splash, his body calf high in the marsh water. With a yank of his legs he was free once again, listening closely to the sounds of combat and doing his best to stay possitive even though they seemed to be backing farther and farther up against the figurative brick wall. 'He's right, we're going to have to find a weakness to exploit or we're done for.' Cloud thought as he propelled his body forward circling the Zolom in a an arc to follow Raiden's attacks. The crackle of lightning burst in the air around him, it was time.
” Come on… ” He muttered like prayer as he launched himself upward following the tail end of the lightning with his blade, bringing it in with a slash to the serpents eyes hoping to only compound the damage the spells would do. Cloud fell back, the splatter of serpent blood erupting around him as he fell towards the mud bellow, trying to right himself as he tumbled.
” Accck! ” Cloud burst out as the serpent's tail blindly whipped across his body in a massive swing that for all he knew had also connected with Raiden. Pain shot through his entire body as he hurled through the air, his mind in a haze. Cloud landed hard, his body tumbling and landing within feet of Tsuna. Opening his eyes his gaze shifted to his ally who seemed in worse shape than he. ” Give.. it hell man. ” Cloud mumbled as he pulled himself up to his knees before sending a streak of green aura across the gap between he and Tsuna, engulfing his ally with all his curative might.

A gleeful smirk danced across his lips, only to be quickly cut away as the creature blindly flailed its tail in retaliation for their combined attack. “Oh, holy hell!” Raiden cried out as he burst into motion, not daring to even think the idea over for fear of being struck by another of those colossal blows. Just as the beast was about to strike him, he suddenly vaulted into the air, over the its tail. In the midst of the dodge, he violently lashed out with his katana in the hopes of using the beast's momentum against it. Somehow he had managed to avoid the attack, while attacking the beast at the same time…

Raiden hit the ground feet first, stumbling briefly before regaining his balance and breaking into a run. There wasn't any time for him to check if his swing had done any meaningful damage, though he wanted to; the others weren't faring very well at all and they could certainly use a respite from the onslaught of the serpent's attacks. Raiden kept moving, even though his lungs felt as if they were on fire and his body ached from the beast's prior blow. “Over here, fucker!” he exclaimed, his voice loud as he could muster.

That likely wouldn't be enough to get the creature's attention, Raiden was certain of that, so he began to channel energy into his bangle yet again; the Lightning materia socketed into the bangle began to emit a bright light, and just when he felt he was far enough away from the others he unleashed the spell. He didn't care if this attack did any noteworthy damage, no he just wanted to grab the beast's attention by pissing it off; Raiden felt the best way to do that was by aiming the attack for the side of its head. “You want to ignore me, fine… but I ain't gonna play nice if you do!”

  Kalm Before The Storm
As Tsuna attempted to do a self diagnositics of his body, he could hear sounds of the conflict just barely and could not make out what was happening. His body was damaged from constant attacks. It would be must worse if not for the magic and potion and was probably the only thing keeping Tsuna moving. In an attempt to move his right leg, Tsuna began to feel the green mist flow over his body. Healing his body back to a somewhat fighting condition.

Tsuna's right eye opened to see Cloud trying to stand beside him. With a pained smile, Tsuna followed suit and began to stand. The serpent was still going strong, but it seemed to be blinded and Raiden seemed to be taunting him. 'You're also a crazy man.' Tsuna wanted to shout, but knew it would take away from his ally's attempt. Tsuna's body was still too weak for a physical attack so his right hand went into his jacket and a green pulse began to come within. The Master Die was calling to him, 'I am your only chance. Throw me or you will die.' Tsuna knew the die could be right. Losing to the serpent seemed a greater risk than the die.

Tsuna's right hand came out with a glowing green die. The die seemed to almost leave Tsuna's hand on its own and rolled a '4'. A green beam of light came from the die and hit Tsuna square in the chest. His body left the ground and began to rotate as a green aura surrounded his whole body. His arms and legs began to transform. Both sets of limbs became legs of a Nibel Fang with claws at the end of his finger.

The green aura began to dissolved and CM-3 landed back on the ground on all fours, facing the serpent. The Master Die launched forward and embedded itself in CM-3's chest. With the transformation complete, Tsuna began to feel urges of the wolf come over him. His teeth clenched and his lips pulled back in a snarl. Tsuna growled before launching forward the serpents and began running up the serpent's back, his claws on all legs, now four, bit into the serpent and helped CM-3 climb the beast till onto. With a fercious growl, CM-3 began clawing into the top of the serpent with all his might and speed till he jumped off and claws across the ground as he slid back. CM-3 released a taunting howl.

Chapter 3: Kalm Before the Storm

Cloud pulled himself to his feet slowly, a growing ache tearing though his torso. 'Are my ribs broken?' Cloud asked himself as he reached his right hand accross his body grasping his left side in agony. The realization of his situation suddenly hit him, Cloud twisted around the giant serpent coming back into view, it's back to he and Tsuna. 'Smart Raiden, but insane' He thought, knowing their ally and risked himself to give them the few moments they needed to pull their shit together. Cloud could only watch as the creature attempted a powerful snap of its jaws in his friends direction, unsure of the outcome.
” Let's put this thing down, Tsuna are you with me? ” Cloud asked as he turned to face his friend. It happened fast, Cloud's jaw nearly hitting the ground as Tsuna began to change, morphing from man to beast in what seemed like seconds. Cloud was awestruck, he had never seen such a sight. 'Shinra!' his mind shouted, only they could be capible of such a feat.
” I guess he's still on our side, let's do this. ” Cloud managed to speak, mustering the ability to move though his body was still sore. Following Cloud ran toward the monstrosity that was the Midgar Zolom, making quick work of the at best poor footing as he moved. Catching sight of his lost Blade, Cloud held his hand as he ran past, pulling it free and with a leap he tore through the air forcing the blade through the tough scales with a massive thrust.

'Here we go,' it was clear as day that his attempt to get the beast's attention had been successful, perhaps more so than he was prepared for. As the enormous serpent turned upon him a sinking feeling overcame him–perhaps he had pushed his luck a bit too far this time. Raiden made a feeble attempt to jump away from the creature as it viciously lunged at him, but even his agile maneuvers weren't enough to escape. It easily caught him in its mouth, around the middle of his thigh, and one of its fangs tore through the side of his left leg. Raiden couldn't suppress the scream of pain that came from his mouth, the crushing feeling of its jaws crushing his legs mixed with the wound from its bite was almost overwhelming.

Raiden cried out with a roar of anger, the agony of his legs being crushed driving him into a blind rage. With reckless abandon the ex-Turk began to unleash a violent flurry of slashes at the side of the beast's head, most of the swings rather weak; without some kind of footing, and the inability to swing with both hands, his attacks with the blade weren't likely to do much other than anger the beast further. “Fuck, fuck, fuck!” he shouted in frustration, as he began to do something outrageously stupid… but it was all he could think of in his current state.

“Let…” Raiden started to say as his bangle began to crackle with electricity, “me…” the materia inside of his bangle began to shine brilliantly as the spell was nearly ready. “go!” he roared the final word as he reached into the creature's mouth with his left arm, placing his hand against the roof of its mouth; and then he unleashed an explosion of electrical energy inside the Zolom's mouth, even though he knew full well that such an attack was likely to do significant damage to himself in the process–but the thought of using the beast's own saliva as a conductor for the attack seemed to be his only option at that point in time….

OOC: I think this is the last post where our party has haste.

  Kalm Before The Storm
The beast was starting to creep into CM3's mind. His only thought was to take down his enemy was quickly as possible, not matter how vicious. With Zolom distracted, CM-3 saw his opening. His now four legs sped forward, his movement as naturally as if he had them his whole life. The only thing left of his human self was his torse and head, the only thing keeping him somewhat sane.

CM-3 leapt forward when in range and lashed onto the underside of the serpent and dug his claws into the serpent's leathery skin. With only the thought of attacking, he released his front claws, keeping attached by the bottom claws, and began to slash as fast as he could at the underbelly of Zolom. While the beast mind was mainly in control, CM-3's mind was still there to support and help devise the attack. After several strokes, he jumped back, his bottom claws leaves dragging wounds as they left.

Landing easily on his four feet, CM-3 looked ready for another attack, but the green die in his chest began to dim. The light went out and the die fell to the ground. The former experiment's head jerked as the change began. A green glow went over his limbs as they turned back to his human parts. Tsuna dropped to the ground as he relapsed back to his true self. While his body was not injured, his mind was reeling. With the sudden lose of another thought process, Tsuna's mind was working to come back to who he is, still thinking he was a fang. Thankfully the transformation wasn't too intense for the mind to handle.

Chapter 3: Kalm Before the Storm

Holding tightly to his blade as the Zolom shook, Cloud did everything he could to keep his balance. Steadying his feet just before Tsuna had launched his attack to the creatures exposed underside, he pulled his blade free with a tug and fliped backwards landing haphazardly on the unsteady marshground. Cloud watched as if in sync Tsuna unleashed his attack just in time to cause the Zolom to stagger enough to release Raiden from it's grip as he cast lightning, freeing him from taking damage from the attack as well.
” That was god damn lucky. ” Cloud mumbled to himself as he started across the marsh closing the distance between he and Raiden as his friend landed. ” You're one crazy son of a bitch, but tough as nails! ” Cloud shouted, finding some minor humor in it all.
Stopping, Cloud summoned a now familair green aura which danced through the air as in engulfed Raiden, restoring a good deal of health as it did so. Turning back towards the creature Cloud paused, noticing it's agression had subsided for the moment, something he had yet to see from the serpent.
” Oh shit. ” Cloud spoke as a air of doom rushed over him, his combat reflexes tingling. As the words escaped his mouth the creature perched itself high, it's hood completely open and in an instant what seemed like a tsunami of flame washed over the masrh. The heat and power knocked Cloud from his feet, tossing his body across the ground and searing his skin as it did so. A dark haze began to overtake him as he was hurled across the masrh, but before losing consciousness the flames subsided leaving Cloud battered and dazed.

Raiden fell from the beast's maw just in the nick of time, narrowly escaping electrocution by his own spell. Gracelessly he plummeted to the marsh below, barely able to stay conscious. It wasn't long before he crashed into the muddy terrain below, the pain from his fall barely registered in his dazed state of mind. As if that alone wasn't enough, his feeble attempts to get up were completely unsuccessful; his legs were in terrible condition from the beast's crushing bite, something he couldn't seem to comprehend in his current state.

In the distance he could hear someone yelling, but he couldn't quite make out what was said. 'I can't move,' he thought bleakly. Even as those words echoed through his mind, he futilely continued his attempts to move. It was then that he could feel a faint, soothing sensation that seemed to wash away all of his aches and pains, restoring him to prime condition. Raiden stood up weakly, his senses quickly returning to him due to the restorative magic.

“Thanks,” Raiden offered his grattiude, preparing himself to expend the last of his energy to cast one more spell. “this is all I've got left, make good use of it.” he solemnly announced, channeling the last of his mana into the Mythril Katana and empowering the Time materia junctioned to it. When he released the spell, the entire party was granted the boon of haste once more. Before he was able to unleash an attack upon the beast, a feeling of overwhelming dread washed over him. Every instinct in him screamed to run away….

Before he could do anything about it, a tidal wave of flame exploded from the beast, tearing through the air and searing everything in its path. Raiden was caught up in the blast, propelled back by the intense concussive force of the blast. As he hurtled through the air, he could feel the flames licking at his flesh, and then it was over as he crashed into the marsh. Relief washed over him as the cold, wet muck helped to sooth his burns. “Damn it,” he murmured weakly, steadily rising to his feet despite the intense pain.

Raiden wasn't sure how he was able to stand up in his current condition, but he was, and that alone was enough to convince him he should keep fighting. He reached into the leather satchel upon his hip, removing a hi-potion from it as he did. Raiden opened the bottle with his thumb, casting the lid aside before he downed the entire potion in a single swallow. With an almost insane grin he extended his weapon forward, pointing it at the beast even as his wounds began to fade away. “I could do this all day!”

The thoughts that he was Tsuna began to make their way back into his head. The memories, most aweful, came flooding back, a side effect of the transformation. While debilitating, Tsuna had gotten use to this side effect and it only reassured him that he was coming too. The memories of the transformation were still there, but it was as if it were the memories of someone else. His eyes opened to see the serpent still alive. Though in an odd way, it was relieving to know he hadn't been asleep like the last time he underwent the transformation.

That relieved feeling went away quickly as a wave of flames washed over his body. His body shook as there was not much more movement available. While his mind was much more clear, he could still not move his body easily. The power of haste allowed his mind to take control of his own body much quicker than usual. His hand went into his coat and drew a potion from within. With a swift drink, Tsuna could start to feel his energy return. With an obvious effort, Tsuna returned to his feet and his sights on the enemy, as his eyes scanned for his blade.

Chapter 3: Kalm Before the Storm

Cloud lay motionless, his body thrown haphazard in the mud, the intense pain fading away. Groaning he pulled himself along, sitting up with a gasp for air. His vision was blurred and his senses dulled but something told him he had to right himself fast, that he was in danger. Reaching towards his eyes, he wiped at them, clearing slattered mud before trying to stand. His legs felt weak, he wobbled for a moment but pulled himself to his feet then it all came rushing back.
” Raiden! Tsuna! Where are you?! ” Cloud shouted out as he twisted and turned finally gaining visuals of both his allies, they seemed battered but okay.” This thing must finally see us as a threat, lets finish it quick! ” Cloud continued, hoping that together they could take the serpent out before it had time to unleash another attack of that magnitude.
A warm mid-day breeze fluttered across the marsh as Cloud summoned a cloud of green aura to surround him, it's curatie properties cleansing his body of the pain and damage caused by the Zolom's Beta attack. Taking a quick step to his right Cloud swooped his his blade, before hurrying towards his allies.    ” Lay into it with the strongest attack you've got! If it gets another shot at us we might be done for! ” Cloud said with a stern but surprisingly calm shout. Pointing his blade at the beast Cloud summoned what would be the last of his magical abilities, the dancing arc of lightning shooting from the top of the sword and crossing the marsh with a thunderous boom before striking the weakened Zolom.

Raiden thrust his katana into the ground at his side, freeing his weapon arm to change his materia. Then he calmly removed his lightning materia from its socket on his bangle. Next, he withdrew his katana from the ground and junctioned the small green sphere with his elemental materia. Electricity sparked to life along the blade, dancing along the weapon as if it had always been there. “Don't hold back!” he cried out to the others, readying his weapon; if they all combined their efforts and launched an assault they might just bring it down before it could retaliate.

Once the arc of lightning began to tear through the air he charged forward without hesitation, focused only upon his target. It wasn't long before Raiden came into striking distance of the beast, and brought his weapon low in preparation for his own attack. With every ounce of strength he could muster, he swung the weapon high in a brutal uppercut. Electricity tore through the air as a trail behind the swing, further boosting the damage of his attack. Following that he twisted his wrists slightly, altering his swing to a mighty downwards slice; which, like the first was trailed by lightning. “Just die already!”

With full control over his mind and body back, Tsuna heard the desperation of the situation wash over him. What was there to do against such a beast. As he thought of his plan, his mind moving faster than his body, the only materia in his blade began to cry out to him. A yellow glow surrounding the orb showed Tsuna where his blade was. Rushing with the thought of only survival, Tsuna grabbed his blade with his right hand and reached int his coat with the left, “Get down!” Tsuna yelled to his teammates.Summoning the power of the skill jus used against him, Tsuna tried to control it and point it in a single direction. As he did that, his die was released and rolled a “1″.

A fireball shoot from the die as a wave of fire came after in an arc that was directed towards the serpent. Even though the beats may use the skill, it still may be vulnerable to his damaging attributes. Tsuna watched as the double fire attack approached the serpent, hoping it would do enough damage to the turn the tides of this battle.

Chapter 3: Kalm Before the Storm

Cloud watched as his friends unloaded their most powerful attacks one after another in sucession. It was an impressive sight, they had already grown that much more powerful since the fateful night they were brought together in Nibelheim, who know how far they could go. As the final attacks struck their target Cloud readied to act once again, unsure about the health of the serpent.
” What is this thing made of? ” Cloud asked himself aloud as he started towards the serpent at full speed, knowing that he would have to rely on physical attacks from this point forward, as would the others most likely.” I hate snakes! ” He souted as he launched himself towards the creature just as it began to fall over under it's own weight, the final Beta attack having done the job after all. Cloud sailed past the vaquished monster, landing smoothly, his blade in hand.
” I guuess you got the last blow after all Tsuna. ” Cloud said with a chuckle as he placed his foot against the Zolom's tree trunk sized body and gave it a precautionary kick to ease his mind, assuring him it was actual defeated. Feeling the fatigue from such a grueling battle setting in Cloud drug his tried body back across the marsh towards his allies.
” I guess we're walking back to Kalm, since our chocobos ran off, at least the two that survived. ” Cloud said with a sigh.

Raiden watched in awe as the beast collapsed under its own weight, their relentless onslaught finally paying off. “Damn,” he cursed under his breath, a wide grin spread across his face. They had defeated the colossal serpent, a feat that he hadn't been perfectly certain they were capable of. “that was fun.” Raiden took a step away from the creature, swinging his weapon through the air quickly to free it of any blood that might be on it. Just after that he sheathed the weapon witth a flourish and approached the others. “Well,” he said as he looked into the distance. “let's get going. We've got a long walk ahead of us….”

Tsuna looked around dazed, from both shock and weakness, as the serpent fell to the ground. They had done it. After this fight, Tsuna only hoped the path to Sephiroth was a long one and one littered with guys like Zolom or they wouldn't be nearly strong enough to face him. Though he would if he was confronted with Sephiroth he would give the fight all he could.

Tsuna, once regaining from the shock, grabbed the sheathe for his sword attached to his back and slipped it over the blade, making it his cane once more. Using the cane for more support than he was use to, the former experiement moved over to the body of the deadly serpent and laid his green die onto the tough skin. The die flared to green life which spread over the serpent till it enveloped it completely. The light pulsed before shooting back into the die. Tsuna put the die back into his coat pocket and looked back at his allies,
“Now that was invigorating.” A sly smile crossed his exhausted face.

Chapter 3: Kalm Before the Storm

Cloud looked upwards, gazing at the indigo sky devoid of clutter. It was endless, a feeling that was harmonious for Cloud, something that struck him deep in his sub-conscious. He longed for a life as calm as that, but as the years continued to pass he only found himself thrust into more dischord. Breaking away from his gaze, he took a moment to watch the others, wondering if had pulled them away into his chaos, cursing them with his presence. It was a feeling he had felt before, a effect he had always had on the people that he cared most for, but he knew it had to lead somewhere and now he was content to follow that path.
” We go to Midgar then. ” Cloud said aloud, the implication that perhaps it would be the last place anyone of them went clear in his voice, but everything had lead them to this point and with the lives of their friends hanging in the balance there was no turning back. ” We'll take the night in Kalm, as it will likely be nearing dark by the time we return. We'll ready ourselves and leave tomorrow for Midgar and accept whatever our fates have planned for us. ” he finished as he started down the path towards Kalm and their common destiny.

Griff when paired with chapter 1 your fire materia will now level up, as will Cloud's cure. San you're about another chapter would of combat away from bolt 3.
