Christian was all too happy to search the bathroom; anything from various medical drugs to simple cloth had real value when it came down to it. Making his way into the bathroom he approached the counter first, searching through the various cabinets and drawers for anything that would aid in the group's survival. When he was finished, hoping he'd managed to gather anything of value, the man calmly walked across the room to the drawers next to the toilet. Opening them he searched through them for anything useful, even if there wasn't he couldn't in good conscience let the possibility go unchecked.

  Survival of the Fittest

The Bathroom: The bathroom was likelty to serve up a wealth of treasures for the group, they always seemed to. The cabinents under the double sinks contained the usual for such a area, six unopened rolls of toilet paper, a bottle of bleach, and many hygiene related items. The medicine cabinent revealed even more useful items, a bottle of ibuprofen, a box of band-aids, and what appeared to be three penicillin tablets in a small perscription bottle. The tall wooden set of drawers revealed itself to be full of linen as Christian would have assumed, some towels some wash cloths. Next to the toilet A plunger was seen.

Robert pulled himself away from the kid's room doorway after his brief look, though he expected something like sports equipment would likely be in there somewhere. Moving into the bathroom he met eyes with Christian as he began to go through the cabinents and drawers looking over the items discovered as the man moved through the room.
” Great haul in here, three penicillins probably aren't enough to buck an infection but it would go a long way in buying us time to find more. ”Robert commented on what he felt was the best find of the day so far.
Robert's head suddened spun round taking his body with it, he had heard something in the main room and was fairly sure neither of the kids where back that way. motioning to Christian to stuff everything from the bathroom to carry in his backpack Robert suddenly realized he had set his wrench down on the kitchen table along with the cans of food. 'shit' Robert thought as he moved quietly down the hallway, making sure to conceal his body against the southern wall as he peeked out to get a look into the living room. Pulling his head back quickly, he felt dizzy, a walker had stumbled it's way through the open front door and was standing hopelessly within the line of sight of the food. Turning to his left Robert thought quickly, reaching into the hall cloest and quietly pulling out a large iron club from the golf bag then waiting for the others to make a move.

OOC Talk:
You can make a listen check to see if you heard it (aside from san who I have informed via silent looks. We can either choose to leave the house and not fight (out a window or something, and leave the supplies) or fight it.

Christian waved a hand at Robert by way of greeting as the man entered the room, still in the process of gathering the items found. “Agreed,” Chris tersely replied as he put the bleach into his bag; pausing for a moment when Robert began motioning for him to gather everything quickly. Without a question as to why the man began to stuff the items into his backpack with a calm haste. They hadn't shut the front door behind them, he realized, and if one of them had come in through the open doorway it could only spell trouble. It took up quite a bit of space by the time he was done, but Christian was glad to have fit everything into his backpack; including some towels and wash cloths. Christian pulled the zipper shut on his backpack before hefting it over his shoulder and following behind Robert with soft, quiet steps while staying close to the wall.

Following suit the man pulled a golf club from the closet as well; he wasn't keen on using the knife on a walker if avoidable. Christian kept quiet, nodding in the direction of the kitchen with a sharp look to his eyes. They couldn't just leave the supplies so easily, not if they actually wanted to survive through this hell.

As Abe searched the hallway closet, the young boy could make out the walking back through the living room. Up until now, the house had seem completely quiet, but this sound shoot through that silence and pierced his head. Abe stood completely still and look to his side, back down the hallway. There stood Robert and Christian. Abe remembered that his sister was in the room directly behind him, so that left only one option, company. Abe peeked around the corner to look back towards the main room and caught sight of a walker. The boy moved his head back around and corner and shoot the two older men a look of terror.

Abe understood all the supplies they could get would be helpful and they needed what they had collected thus far. His body began to shake every so softly as he cursed himself for not carrying one of the golf clubs with him as he searched. Abe moved as silently as he could into the master bedroom where Jade was and hide with his back against the wall leading towards the walker. A finger was raised to the boy's lips as he signaled his sister to remain silent  in case she had not heard the walker come in. Abe was afraid of this new world, but he feared more for her sister. She was his last living connection to his old life and he was going to hold on dear to it.

Jade pocketed a small bottle of perfume, roughly 30ml, into her backpack and then turned to head out of the master bedroom. There was nothing of any use left. Perhaps the perfume could at least be used to blind an attacker or to be used as a projectile incendiary device. Suddenly, Abe came into the room, his finger pinned to his lips. The look in his eyes and the slow, silent movement of his steps only meant one thing. Jade froze, almost too scared to move, and then brought up her ice axe in preparation. She motioned Abe to come closer so that she could slowly push the door to, leaving it slightly ajar so as not to make a sound. She had to keep her brother safe; Robert and Christian could handle themselves for now, but Jade peered through the slight remaining gap to see what she could see.

  Survival of the Fittest

Robert was locked in, he didn't enjoy these moments but for some reason they gave his life more meaning. With Christian at his back, also arming himself with a club from the hall closet, and the kids in the bedroom it was the best time to act. At this point Robert had told the kids enough that if they could just hide, and they had promptly done so, he felt proud of that, before his emotions rushed back.
” No use being quiet any longer, lets get this bastard, Christian swing around and flank him, and shut that damn door. ” Robert said as he stepped out from the wall making enough movement and noise to gain the zombie's attention. Sliding back carefully towards the kitchen, Robert did what he coul dto draw the walker his was so that Christian could flank the creature and they could make this as easy as possible. ” Go! ” Robert shouted as the walker came within striking distance of his golf club, a distance Robert planned to keep between them as he leaned back and took as swing at the creature, striking it hard enough in the upper arm to give him time to keep his distance.

OOC Talk:
I used the body area table on gun combat page to roll where I struck, on a d100, san you should do this as well, then roll for damage which will be 1d6 for the clubs. Once the HP has been drained on these things you can auto head smash. Also, these things will break after 3 swings, they're not meant for this. All checks are made with a d20 clerith, with 10 being average and 1 being low, 20 being high. Whenever you want to make a check like say a search check you can roll your d20 and post the roll and leave the outcome open (unless it's super low and you know it's not going to suceed lol) Basiclly we're playing DnD style.

Damage: 3+1 (4)

Abe kept close to the wall with his sister right against him. The boy got on the tips of his toes and did his bets to whisper towards his sister's ear, “I think it'll be ok. Theres only one, I think.” Even though Abe tried to console his sister, it did little to help him. His body tensed as he thought of losing one of their guardians. Together, him and his sister weren't likely to survive in this new world. The boy could do nothing though, but wait and keep and ear out to figure out what happened while his sister kept a look on the fight.

“Couldn't agree more,” he whispered in reply, staying close to the wall in an effort to remain unnoticed as his friend moved to distract the walker. Christian stood idle while the older man ran madly out of the hallway, clearly making quite the effort to catch the zombie's attention. 'Go!' Robert shouted the command to make his move, and the word continued to echo in his thoughts even as he charged forward. Chris wasn't concerned with the walker just yet; he had complete faith in Robert's ability to distract the monster. Upon reaching the open door he shut the door fast as possible without making too much noise–they didn't need any more problems than they already had. Just in case more unwelcome visitors decided to drop by he latched the door, knowing full well that while it wouldn't be much of a hassle for one of them it might just help against anything outside. “now let's get this party started.”

Christian casually turned about face, staring hard at the walker for a brief moment; there was no pity or remorse in his gaze, only cold determination. If he had any say in the matter none of them would wind up as one of them. Chris burst into motion, his legs moving fervently as he charged madly at the zombie. With both hands tightly holding onto the grip he held the weapon low, performing a massive downward swing as he came within range of the monster. It had struck the beast firmly on the back of its head, but he was doubtful that the attack was enough to finish the thing. “Guess we finally get to play some golf together, eh?” Christian said wryly, holding the club like a sword; it felt comforting to have something between him and the zombie at this distance.

Jade felt her grip tighten around the handle of the ice axe. Everytime they searched through an empty house she prayed to find a handgun. Over the past 12 months, her eldest brother used to take her down to the local shooting range to practise her marksmanship. She was never really interested in guns until her brother had became a police officer. If she had one, she would be proficient enough to help the older survivors protect each other. Standing in the bedroom, she felt helpless, but was itching to get involved and do what she could. Robert often looked at her as a child but she was more capable than he knew. She looked to her brother, reminding herself why she should be careful when taking risks. Come on, Robert, kill that bastard.

  Survival of the Fittest

Robert continued to slowly step back as the walker crept towards him, it's moans and lust for his flesh was clear but Robert knew they were in control of the situation. As the door was shut Robert had shifted into the kitchen, physically using the end of his bent golf club to push the creature back and keep himself out of it's reach, 'god the smell, you never get use to that' he thought. Moments later Robert felt the strike of Christian's club vibrate through his own. Robert pulled his club away letting the rotting, walking, carcass fall to the tile floor, dark ooze pouring from the massive cave in Christain had delivered to it's skull.
” Nice swing. ” Robert muttered as he turned his attention quickly from the fallen zombie to the food stuffs and his wrench on the table. ” Jade, Abe, come on we've over stayed our welcome. ” Robert called to the kids as he began to stuff some of the cans into his own backpack, leaving others for Jade, Christain, and Abe to carry. Robert had always thought it wise that food be split between everyone that way if someone got separated they would have some, and if in the worst case scenario, the survivors wouldn't chance losing it all. ” Grab anything else you might want, then lets head out this back door. We can stay off the street and head to the next house with better cover. ” Robert finished as he zipped up his pack, picked up his heavy iron wrench from the table, and then pointed to the sliding glass back door.

Abe gave a reluctant smile as he heard Robert' voice. They must have finished the walker for him to call them over. Pushing Jade gently away, the teen tapped her on the shoulder and made it way out into the living room. The fear of the walker had built up adrenaline in the young teens veins and with that fear gone, Abe felt a little exhausted. He moved to the table on instinct of follow Robert's orders and packed his bag with 2 cans of food, 2 bottles of cleaning supplies, and the box of scubbies. Dividing up supplies was a usual routine for the group and Abe always tried to take the least amount of food as he was the smallest. Abe took up one of the golf clubs he had placed there and left the kitchen knives, not wanting to put them in his bad in case they pierced the bag. He put his screwdriver back in his bag and continued to the back glass door, waiting for the others to be ready before he moved out.

When the realization that his attack caved in the corpse's skull hit him, Christian felt the tension in his body simply vanish as if it had never been. They had felled the Walker with outstanding speed and escaped without injury as a result; a fact that the former soldier was deeply grateful for. “Well then,” Chris began while smiling softly, “let's take extra precautions next time. I'd rather none of us wind up on the dinner menu.” In response to Robert's announcement that they were moving on Chris walked into the kitchen at a brisk pace, leaning his golf club on the table for a moment. Christian pulled the backpack from his shoulder, sliding the zipper to open it and stowing several cans of food away before closing it and pulling the pack back onto his shoulder. Following that he picked up his club once more, striding across the room to stand next to Robert. “At least life stays interesting… would be happier if we happen to find a real drink or two though.”

Jade followed her brother out into the open living area, seeing the zombie dead on the floor. Her eyes only spotted the feet before she turned away, refusing to look any further. Over on the table were the last few cans of food and medicinal supplies so she scooped them up and put them inside her bag. She still had the ice axe in her hand as they left the house, just in case.
“Where to next?”

  Survival of the Fittest

With most of the food taken Robert decided to take one of the nicer kitchen knives with him as well, going back through the kitchen drawers for a moment to locate a wash towel which he wrapped around the blade before placing it in his pack. Moving towards the doors he took a moment, cupping his hands and placing them against the glass to reduce the remainder of the twilight still peeking over the horizon as he took a look outside.
” I don't see anyone or thing outside, but there is a small tool shed out there that maybe we should check out before heading to the next house. ” Robert said as he stepped back away from the sliding door, knowing that very useful things were kept in sheds. ” Will you kids be ok being in the open like that for a couple minutes? ” Robert asked Jade and Abe, knowing all to well that they were old enough to take care of themselves but still feeling responsible for their safety. The tool shed was something he knew they shouldn't pass up, and for Robert he felt it would be worth the risk of a few minutes out in the open, if they could just all be very quite likelihood was nothing would happen.

Abe looked over at Robert and gave him a nod, “It's worth it to take a look.” The teen tried to steel himself from the fear, but he couldn't let his weakness bring down the team. The walker reminded him about how dangerous his new reality was, but he had to be strong to survive. Abe looked over at his sister, “Keep a look out while we investigate.” Peeking out for anything before making a move outside of the house, Abe moved as quietly as he could to the shed. Though it would add to the danger, Abe hoped there was a lock on the shed. The simplicity and logic of a lock always helped the teen when he felt scared. Since being outside was extremely dangerous at night, Abe would open the door to the shed as quietly as possible or work on the lock if there was one.

Christian didn't have anything to add to the conversation, or at least, nothing that was worth voicing. All of them were keenly aware of the dangers of traveling at night They were all keenly aware of the dangers that traveling at night posed, so saying 'be careful' was hardly a necessity. Chris took a step outside, keeping an eye out for any dangers that might present themselves, while carefully treading the yard and heading in the direction of the tool shed. No sense losing precious daylight–it was as much a commodity as food was these days. Abe was just a few steps ahead of him, and Christian made sure to keep a particularly close eye on the area around the boy–he was just a kid, and he had no intention of letting him wind up on the meal plan. With that thought in mind the soldier tightened the grip on his club while approaching the shed.

Jade stayed at the open door, looking across the garden as the others began to pace across the garden. She looked at Robert who was also on the look out for walkers. “Just for the record, thanks.” She paused, looking across at her brother. “For looking after us both.”

She remembered the moment Robert had saved her like it was yesterday. Too many zombies and no hope, until he showed up out of the blue. She was alone at that point, fending for herself, and then eventually tracked down her brother. Over time, the four survivors began to build a bond that meant everybody looked after each other. They'd made it this far.

Robert simply nodded to Jade, knowing that what she said was sincere, before heading through the sliding kitchen door into the growing darkness. The path to the shed was short, only twenty feet or so but the back yard was not fenced, which meant anything could stumple upon them back there. Keeping quiet as he reached the shed which sported double doors which would pull open he noticed that there was a small padlock on the door.
” Dumb dumb dumb, you should have looked for a fucking key. ” Robert thought to himself, wanting to smack himself on the head, but resisting. Turning to the young Abe he simply pointed at the lock and stepped back giving the boy some room to do his work. As he stood, Robert motioned to Chris to head back to the house and look for the key, just incase.

Abe approached the lock and got down onto one knee. He swung his backpack in front of him and went through the side pocket, picking out some paper clips he had for just this reason. With a quick look of “don't worry I got this”, Abe bent the paper clip so he was straight and got to work on the lock. After some swift movements, the lock clicked and let go. 'Ah a lock. Made to keep our possession safe yet so simple' thought Abe as he took the lock off the door and opened to door, revealing whats inside.
