  Anniversary Fair
Peter chucked lightly as the man asked about his ears, probably thinking their fake, “Well, you see. You'll need magical abilities of the top tier, understanding of magics effect on space and time, and what else…oh yea a rabbit jumping into your experiment at the right moment.” Most people didn't believe his time travel stories because of the level of his magic, but Peter still loved telling the story. He always wondered what they thought happened.

Sounds of the King and Queen arriving caused Peter's ears to stick right up. A quick view stole Peter's breath as he saw the guards standing there. Peter was usually part of this party. It was his first look at his old life since he got to this time. Of course everyone he knew was dead and none would remember him from so long ago, but the feeling still hurt. He was caught up so long that Peter could see the only leaving and hurried quickly behind so he could really remeber the moment.

There was an electricity moving through the crowd as more and more people gathered from the whole of Leene Square, moving up the successive tiers of stairs until they reached the top plaza. Jonas has secured his spot on the front row and was happy to see that many of the others had followed him and also gained a great view of the up coming events.
” I actually met Lucca once before, just bumped into her at the market in Truce! ” Jonas said to the others, excited about being near the small group that had gone on the greatest and most important adventure in the history of the world. ” I see them coming! ” Jonas spoke as he reached out and pointed back behind the group where the flags and movement in the crowd indicated that people were making the way for the caravan to climb the stairs.
The caravan was not as lavish as one would think, though in arriving they had taken transport once on foot it was like any group of people, the Queen, Crono, Lucca and the mecha Robo surrounded by four or six guards, not for protection, just to give them space to move. The queen was dressed normally, her favored white outfit rippling in the low breeze. Behind here Crono was stoic, walking calmly, his tunic much like the one Jonas wore. Lucca and Robo seemed close, she walked near the mecha, pointing to faces in the crowd, people they knew from adventures past. As the Passed Jonas made way, stepping back and allow the group to take the stage.

Kings and Queens
Queen Marle walked slowly, taking time to stop and touch the hands of the citizens of Truce and visitors from around the world as she passed. Behind her followed Crono, stoic, silent but his eyes were kind, people knew and respected this. As Marle reached the stage her escorts fanned out, making sure everyone stayed at a safe distance. Looking out among the people Marle smiled. She waited a moment, taking in the scene, looking up at the pale blue sky overheard, gulls soaring by. It was truely a perfect day, a day much like the one her and Crono had come to meet, in this smale square, ten years prior. That fateful meeting had set them on an adventure that held the fate of the entire future, people were awed by their story when it was all said and done.
   ”
People of Truce, Porre, Medina and the rest of the world it's a lovely day, a perfect day for this festival. I'm so glad all of you came to celebrate the journey that started here a decade ago.” Marle started, her words flowing. ” A journey that led me to wondrous places and introduced me to life long friends ” She continued, turning towards Crono, Lucca and then Robo as she spoke. ” I hope you all enjoy yourselves today and that you have fun and make the best of a future free from utter destruction! ” She was growing in volume as she spoke, the crowd clapping and cheering. ” For those of you seeking adventure as we once did, don't shy away from exploration, though sometimes adventure will simply find you. Now everyone, to the square for games! ” Marle finished, taking time to once again walk around and greet as many people as she could before stepping from the stage and walking back through the sea of people towards the square.

The sight that was unfolding before Demitri was one that he had only ever been able to imagine in his mind, ripped straight from the pages of the Professor's bedtime stories he was told as a child. To actually be here in person, surrounded by such pageantry and a crowd full of passion and adoration for such important people, was something truly inspiring. There was part of him that hoped that, perhaps some day, he could be as celebrated as these legendary heroes. But, such aspirations would have to be put aside for now – the queen and Crono had arrived!

Demitri hadn't expected the queen to be such an attractive woman, as stereotypical of a first impression that may be for a man. After all, through all the stories that he had heard he had never once seen a picture of Marle or Crono. For some reason he was imagining them a lot older. Perhaps having heard so many stories about them when he was younger had distorted his mental image of them. But, in any case, there the legends were, in warm flesh and blood!

The young man couldn't help but let out a cheer with the rest of the crowd as Marle gave her speech. Hell, he had merely stumbled his way to this place accidentally and he was already ready to run through a wall for the queen. That charisma was certainly what had made her so loved by her people. Demitri's gaze drifted to Crono – the man, the myth, the legend. He was shorter than Demitri had imagined, but held an imposing confident aura about him. There was a silent strength that Demitri could pick up just by looking at him, and he couldn't help but feel a bit awestruck at the sight.

   But then it happened.

Being the technomaniac that Demitri was, the moment that he set his eyes upon Lucca and Robo, it was as if the rest of the world had suddenly disappeared. His green eyes widened, and his mind immediately frenzied into a storm of silent analysis and questions about Robo and his creator. The machine that had helped save the world! How positively astounding! Demitri could only imagine all of the interesting things he could discover if he could only get the opportunity to investigate Robo … maybe probe around his circuits and insides and see what made him tick. Maybe he could even give him a small tune-up here and there, or even — !

Demitri shook his head to regain his composure. He shouldn't get carried away thinking such things, it'd probably end badly if he tried to do something like that, however innocent his intentions would be. But still, this was all so riveting!

The young inventor turned to his new aquaintances, “It certainly is something to see them in person, huh? If only I could see Robo up close … ” Demitri's began, his voice trailing off before he caught himself, “Ah, anyway! Are you guys going to head over to the square as well? I'll be tagging along, if you don't mind. Outside of you all, Lena's the only one I'm remotely familiar with.

Soren felt the crowd’s energy grow as they continued to gather, coming from all over the square to secure the best view possible. It was a rare chance to see the world’s saviors all gathered in one place; there weren’t many people who wouldn’t be excited for such an opportunity. After all they had journeyed far and wide, even traveled through time itself, just to save the world from total destruction. Was there anyone could even hope to rival such brilliant adventures?
While he listened to Jonas brag of a time where, by sheer luck, he had bumped into Lucca at the market a smile spread across Soren’s lips. Only a few people he had met in his travels had that same sense of wonderment about them; truly it was always enjoyable to speak with such a person. “It must have been quite something for you to speak of it so fondly.” Soren replied coolly, turning to catch an early glimpse of the caravan.
Soren watched intently as the crowed moved of their way, making room for the caravan. It wasn’t too long before they had come up the staircase, and began to head in the direction of the stage. Soren casually moved aside with Jonas, having a good view of the group as they passed by. If it weren’t for the guards all about them he might have mistook them for ordinary citizens (though Robo stood out quite a bit).
Once they finally reached the stage their escorts quickly fanned out to keep everyone at a distance. On the stage Queen Marle was quick to flash the crowd a genuine smile, though she remained quiet for several moments. As she started her speech Soren gave it his full attention, though unlike the majority of the crowd he didn’t start to clap; though to hear her encourage other adventurers made him grin stupidly.
After they had left he heard one of the others speaking and turned about slightly to face him. “They’re quite impressive,” Soren admitted with a steady smile. “I plan on heading over there myself. I’ve qualms about moving as a group, such events are meant to be enjoyed with others after all.”
‘I suppose my visit with my parents can wait until tomorrow,’ Soren thought as he began to make way to the square to join in on the games. It made him uneasy to continually procrastinate such as he was, but it was impossible for him to deny the allure the festival held for him.

Lena followed the others, still not entirely sure of what was happening. She had been told all about Crono and his friends amazing adventures through time back when she was a child but had never really been that fascinated by them. She was always more interested in the sciences and inventing stuff. Time travel had its appeal but she was content in her current surroundings and wanted things to play out as they should and not be impacted by movement through the ages. Still, it would be interesting to see how inventions have advanced and how they were so different in the past.
Demetri introduced himself, remembering her from the other day. There encounter had been brief but she had enjoyed his company and his help when battling the flying beast that had attacked them. She smiled at him and gravitated to his side, feeling comfort in his familiarity.
“I hope you have had chance to recover from those bites,” Lena asked, concerned about his welfare.
The group mobed on to the square where they listened to Queen Marle. It was a short talk but it rasied the spirits of everybody around them. Lena could see Demetri's intrigue as he stared over at Lucca. Yes, she was the inventor of their group and had given so many modenr inventors the interest to develop their own things. Demetri was obviously one of them. That was another reason she felt so close to him, because of their similar hobby. Lena was very much a closed book and never allowed anybody in. Sometimes, she came off as uncaring and uninterested, when actually her heart is always in the right place.
After the speech, everybody followed Jonas down to where the games were being played. He had become the immediate centre of the group. Everybody had come together because of him and now everybody was following him, hoping that adventure really was on the cards. Lena was unsure of what she really wanted but was happy to just let things play out. She looked to Demetri, “Yeah, we should go too. Let's see what all the fuss is about.”

The Queen and her friends moved in behind as her escorts made way through the sea of people. As she had done on the approach, she tried to touch the hands of as many as she could as she walked. Jonas had reached out, his hand touching hers which sent a flood of happiness through him. As the last escort moved by Jonas moved in behind the caravan and followed them down the two sets of stairs to the lower level of the square. Marle stopped at the fountain, and her and Crono seemed to have a moment, before they all put up a final wave and went off the way they had come, back to Guardia Castle.
” Wow that was great huh? Crono and the Queen, and even Lucca and Robo, this has been a really fantastic day. ” Jonas said, as he turned to find many of his new companions with him. ” I've always dreamed of going… ” Jonas was speaking when it happened.
Above the fountain the low hum of electricity could be heard followed by a succession of blue sparks. Jonas stopped speaking as he watched the event unfold his eyes growing larger, full of shock. A small dot drew wider, blue in color with a ripple of waves, like nothing Jonas had seen before though he instantly knew what it was. The dot grew into a large circle and everyone around them grew quiet, the entire square full of people not making a sound, all fixed on the fountain. A minute passed before the man came tumbling out, he was dressed in a style of the past as they would have worn a few hundred years ago. Jonas rushed forward as the man hit the cobble stones and grasped him, looking at his worn face, he had been though a lot. The man was breathing, but not well at all, in his hand he grasped a pendant, it appeared to be made of gold. The man's eyes opened.
” Are.. are you Crono? Please take this, you must help u..us. ”The man spoke, his voice growing weaker as he held out the pendant and seemed to faint.

Peter watched on an amazement as Marle came to speak. She looked so much like Queen Leena. Peter always found her to be so beautiful, but he would never make such an approach on her. As a grand wizard, it was his duty to protect the royal family and follow any orders that they gave. Most orders were vague, the King and Queen trusted all their grand wizards, especially Peter. He was the youngest to reach this rank in history and he was even considered the most powerful among those of his rank. Whenever the Queen needed to travel, Peter was always there to protect. They had grown close over the years and seeing Marle made him most those days. The days before rabbit ears.

In timing with the regret of the ears, they sprung right up as if to get some attention. Peter hated them at times, they served no purpose, but to freak people out and remind him of his greatest mistake. Lost in his own thoughts, Peter missed the speech and and ran after the group heading towards the square. He arrived just in time to see the blue dot appear above the fountain. It reminded him a little of his own portal he created to get to this time. That meant trouble was coming and the ears knew, they relaxed, bending almost in half. As the man tumbled out, Peter knew they were right. He ran over to the wounded man in time to here his words. He looked over at Jonas, worried,
“Someone should get them…I'll help him.” Thankfully the rabbit hadn't taken too much power. Peter pointed his palms towards the man and conjured up what magic he could. A blue light spread across the fainted man and began healing the all the wounds it could, “I think he'll be okay. Just looks like he fainted.” Peter stood up and looked across the crowd, “Can someone please give this man somewhere to rest with shade and water? Should he wake up tell him to continue to rest and feed him, I'll cover his bill.” Peter had a feeling if this man travelled in time for help, he must have knowledge they needed. A petty cash was no worry and the people here knew that Peter could do things money can't.

The Queen's speech went over without a hitch. No one over-stepped their boundaries in their approach, no one yelled over the speech itself (though the crowd was quite loud) — a successful venture by any measure. On the way back from the stage, the Queen continued to bask in the love of the crowd, touching the hands of her people, beaming all the while. Nadia took note of one citizen, a young man in an orange bandana. No doubt the lad dreamt of adventure; she could see it in his eyes, which lit up upon when the Queen's fingers brushed his own. She hoped he found it, that he might experience enough of it for the both of them.Maybe I'll hear about his plights one day. Though I'll probably be too busy guarding the castle from ghosts and rats and the ghosts of rats.

As the caravan began to move again, away from the square and back towards the edge of town, Nadia couldn't help but be dismayed at their short stay. If she had it her way, she would have stayed in Truce for the evening, watching the games, eating savory foods bought from street-side vendors. Alas, duty called as it always did. The crowd collapsed behind them, following them back the way they came. What a letdow–whooops!

Looking over shoulder at the crowd, Nadia had failed to notice a basket that someone had no doubt strategically placed on the ground to prank her. Planting a foot in the basket, she drug it with her, tripping over it when her other leg strode forward. Damn. Jarred a little by the fall, she wasn't quick enough to get up, as the crowd filed past her, separating her from the caravan. When she finally found her feet, she could no longer see the caravan through the wall of bodies before her. Oh, come on.

Then a low hum droned behind her. Confused, she turned around to face the fountain, the rest of the crowd following suit. Blue sparks radiated in the still air, the hum growing louder. Sparks gave way to a…hole. There was no better word for it — the sky had opened up into a magnificent blue hole. It can't be… Moments later, the rift expelled a man, battered and beaten. His fall to the cobblestone below probably didn't help much either.

he crowd around her began to yammer, hardly a person moved a foot. But that didn't stop her. Before she realized what she was doing, she was running, already most of the way back to the fountain. When she arrived, she saw that the man from the portal was being tended to by a young man — the same young man that had appeared so elated when his hand touched the Queen's — and another with…rabbit ears? Again, before she realized what she was doing, she blurted out, still trying to catch her breath, “I'm here! I'm a knight!”

Soren paused for a moment, to wait for the group, staying back while the others made small talk. There wasn’t really anything he could add to the conversation, so he simply stood idle. That is until the air above the fountain started to hum with electricity, followed shortly by a sudden explosion of blue sparks. As the event unfolded everything went quiet, the entire square’s attentions focused solely upon the otherworldly scene. In the center of the phenomenon was a small blue dot that appeared to ripple like the surface of water. At least a minute passed by before the strangest thing of all finally happened.
Out of nowhere a man suddenly tumbled onto the pavement, dressed in clothing commonly worn in antiquity. Soren knew what was happening the moment he laid eyes upon the man, though he wasn’t quite sure how they should handle such a situation. All the same he rushed over to help the man, just a few steps behind Jonas. When the man’s eyes opened he began to speak to Jonas, mistaking him for Crono and pleading with him for help. In his hands the man clutched a pendant, which he held out to Jonas before fainting.
One of their group, the young man with the rabbit ears on his head, came over and quickly cast a restorative spell on the traveler to mend his wounds. A faint blue aura enveloped the man, and Soren gladly offered the mage a warm smile. It was a relief to see that others in their party were quick to respond when someone was in need. What they were to do now though was another problem entirely. “Jonas,” Soren quietly began to speak while glaring over at the fountain. “was that truly what it appeared to be?”

The blue hole, quite literally a tear in the fabric of space and time itself, stood open the burst of electricity and steady hum still accompanying it. The water in the fountain below rippled with a steady wave, the distortion of gravity agitating it. In Jonas' arms the man was unconscious, his body wounded. Jonas noted his features, feeling as if time had slowed down, the frenzy of activity around him almost non-existent. He saw Peter, the man with the ears, and Soren, and another he had seen with the Queen. It was surreal, he could not believe it was happening. In his palm he looked at the pendant, it seemed warm, it was like he had always had it.
” Wh..what is this.. what? ” Jonas started to speak, confused, all of his emotions peeking at the same time. ” It can't be. ” He followed, bluntly.
As he held the man an aura surrounded them, it felt comforting, nice. He looked down, the man did not stir. Jonas turned his head to Peter, shaking it as if he knew what no one else did, the man was not going to wake. Then it hit him, he was pulled back, it all became real, this was what he had always dreamed of.
” This is it. ” Jonas said, slowly lowing the man to the ground, then standing to face the rip in time. ” It's our chance for adventure, where this man came from we're needed. ” He continued, turning to face the Knight, a young woman he had not met. ” Who's coming with me? ” He finished speaking, feeling the pull of destiny on all of them.
