Tsuna hit the bridge as the laser attack hit him. It scorched his chest hitting the same place as the last grunt's attack. On top of that, the kill was stolen from him. Avelia had killed his grunt with his wanton poison. He turned on her with fierce eyes even as she healed him. He turned around quickly, smothering his anger because of her kindness. Her worth got her a pass.
Tsuna looked towards the remaining grunt with an evil snear, “I'll just have to settle for you.” The former experiment swung his sword hoping to get the satifaction of killing this grunt.

Raiden could do nothing save watch as the machine began to counterattack, a wave of lasers that were unavoidable from his current position. When the beams of energy caught their mark it was just below his left ribcage, and he made an effort to defend against it by moving his left arm into its path instead; minimizing the damage to his vitals but he knew the moment the attack subsided there wasn't any chance he'd be able to use the arm until something was done about the damage. “Shit,” he cursed angrily, attempting to bear the pain to the best of his ability.
“My turn,” he announced, making a motion to take another step forward only to be stopped by a sudden surge of pain in his abdomen. Raiden grunted in pain, instead deciding to opt for another bolt spell upon the machine. Until something was done about some of his wounds he knew he wouldn't be capable of making any rough motions. Channeling the power of the materia, the former Turk released another bolt of lightning at the machine in the hopes he'd do more than piss it off this time.
The dire situation the group found themselves in was taking its toll on Cloud, he just wanted to be able to protect everyone, that's all that he had ever wanted. Watching from a distance, his injuries keeping him out of the action he starred on as the lasers had begun to rip through his friends who had thrown themself into this situation if not for their own reasons, then just to help him escape Nibelheim. ” I won't let them die for this cause, we have to win this, we have to make it to him then everything will be ok. ” Cloud spoke softly, reassuring himself as he started to stumble forward back towards the bridge that Raiden had so effortlessly helped him cross before. The bridge was just the first of many thresholds that Cloud and his allies would have to overcome, it's symbolism clear. ” I won't let them die! ” Cloud shouted out, as if speaking to someone else, as he started across the the rope bridge which swung and moved as the steady gale blew through the mountain passes. Ahead Tsuna's strike seemed to have sent the last grunt to the ground. 'It must have been a powerful blow' Cloud thought to himself as he pulled himself forward, the gale blow his wrappings violently about, lashing his face as he moved forward. Suddenly a crackle erupted, stunning the blonde haired man for a moment, Raiden had unleashed his powerful bolt attack on the gargantuan murder machine, sending sparks flying around it followed by smoke which was caught by the gusting winds and blown back towards Cloud only making is passage across the bridge that more perilous. ” That's it! ” Cloud shouted to his allies as he reached the comfort of solid ground, just meters behind them and well within range of the flying machine. If we stun it with bolt and then clobber it we might just take this thing down! ” He finished before steadying himself behind the others, outstretching him arm and calling forth a massive bolt attack of his own which would rip through the air with a rumble, charging the particles all around them as it laid into the flying monstrosity.

Tsuna's glare pierced the atmosphere around her, sending an uneasy chill up Avelia's spine. What did that look mean? Why did Tsuna seem so angry? She brushed it aside, hearing Raiden release a grunt of pain. Quickly, she focused her attention on the wound he had just inflicted and cast another Cure spell upon him. Having cast two spells in succession, Avelia began to feel light headed and dizzy. The adrenaline of battle was wearing off and she started to feel human again. Placing the end of her spear down, she leaned against it. The robot was free to attack but she would not be able to reach it from where she was anyway. Instead, she kept herself ready to heal.

The joy of watching the grunt fall to the ground shoot throughout Tsuna's body. The pleasure quickly dissipated as there were no more grunts to kill. While the helicopter held grunts, it wasn't the same as piercing their body with a sword. The thrill of feeling the life leave their body as the blade slice. Pure ecstacy.
But Tsuna had to destroy the helicopter in order to survive to kill my Shinra workers. He ran across the bridge and leapt towards the stunned copter. His body flipped midair to extend his distance and he landed ontop of the machine. Tsuna began to slash trying to find a weak spot as he blade bounced off the armor. Maybe the sword wasn't the best weapon for the situation, but the former expirement would do his best to continue forward.

Raiden could literally feel his wounds begin to mend under the restorative magic of the Cure spell, and for that the man was more than grateful. It had been difficult just to stay standing after that attack, let alone move about. “Thanks,” he called out with a wide smile; taking a wary step forward to test if there were any pain. When he only felt the lingering sting of his wounds he began to pick up the pace, until he was making a mad dash at their mechanical adversary. Just a few feet behind Tsuna the former Turk began to channel the magic of his bolt materia, unleashing another violent burst of lightning at the machine. “Hope you don't mind, but sittin' on the back line is borin' me to death.” Raiden remarked to Tsuna, a wide grin finding its place on his lips.
Cloud was amazed at the shear bravery of his comrades, without hesitation they can charged the gigantic flying menace, and in Tsuna's case ascended to it's top. Knowing that he would be unable to do the same, he simply marveled at his allies abilities, memories of 'him' flooding his conscious mind. ” You people are nuts! ” Cloud shouted at his new found friends as he realized at his current possition it would be harmful for him to cast bolt, as it would risk hitting Tsuna as well. He could do as Raiden had done, and strike it from underneith, but in his condition the risk would be to great, he would simply have to, for the moment, allow his allies to bare this cross. Cloud held his ground was the machine began to move to it's left, Cloud followed it's slow movements, it was clearly prepairing for attack. Aiming down at Raiden a large bandsaw sprang forth from one of it's mechanical arms slashing at the former Turks legs with a frenzy, it had done some damage. ” Shit! ” Cloud spoke, as he realized he could help take the load of Avelia. Holding his hands out, a green aura overtook him, a river of light poured out wrapping around Raiden, restoring his health.

Avelia rested against her staff as it stood stalwart on the bridge. Raiden had thanked her for helping heal his wounds, to which she replied with a weakening smile. From behind her, Cloud stood up,backing her healing with a Cure spell of his own. She pushed herself up into a full stance, thinking of how to slow the beast down. Perhaps the oozing poison from a Bio spell could effect the electronics and mechanics of the machine. It was worth a shot, anything to help the rest of her team defeat this thing and survive. She held out the bladed end of her spear, pointing it towards the metal beast, then unleashed a wave of purple liquid that sprayed across the body of her foe.

Tsuna stumbled as the machine took to the air. The former experiment stood back up slowly as he scanned for a door. As the machine moved to the left, Tsuna slide down the side grabbing hold of the top of the machine before following, “Shit.” With a quick flick of the wrist, a die found itself onto of the machine. A “2″ was rolled and the die began to radiate red energy. A fireball shot out of the die hitting to the top of the machine. Tsuna let go of the machine, flicking it wrist to get his die back, and landed on the bridge, well one leg did. The other shot through a wooden plank trapping his leg. Tsuna shot the plank a look of disdain and with on final pull, freed his leg. His dusted off his suit as if a battle wasn't going on. He made a mental note of all the damages to his clothes, far too many for a gentleman like Tsuna. Shinra would surely pay.

Raiden shuffled a step back in an effort to avoid the machine's sudden attack. It was a futile effort, he realized, as the bandsaw cut deep into his left leg. It hadn't quite nicked the bone but he was certain it had cut through his femoral artery. An anguished cry escaped his lips in spite of his desperate effort to contain it, and then suddenly the pain began to lessen; a faint green light encircling him and mending the deadly wound. The overwhelming agony was still fresh in his mind, and it was making him angry as hell.
Raiden directed his shamshir at the arm the bandsaw had emerged from as electricity began to crackle upon the hilt. “Die already,” he snapped, fury clear in his voice. “ya fuckin' pissant.” A burst of lightning exploded from the weapon, leaving a boom of thunder in its wake. Not one to repeat mistakes the former Turk held his blade at the ready–prepared to defend himself from any counterattack that might come.
The bellowing black smoke increased with each attack, pouring out like liquid from the mechanical nightmare. With each successful attack Cloud could see they were putting a significant amount of wear on the flying tank, it wouldn't be able to withstand this onslaught for much longer. Almost a soon as the thought had passed harmlessly through Cloud's mind something happened, the flying heli-tank moved back settling down on the ground, it's blades retracting in the process. ” Did that do it? ” Cloud said out loud, questioning the events as the unfolded, thinking surely that it could take a few more punches. Stunned and unsure of what move to make, Cloud simply stood and watched as four small hatches opened across the front of the massive machine. From these hatches like rockets in a burst four small drones were ejected out, each about two and a half feet in diameter, mostly round and hovering via some sort of magnetics. ” It's stalling us, it could be repairing we have to finish these things off quick! ” Cloud shouted to the others before unleashing a quick bolt of lightning from his bangle, crackling across the cool air and making contact with one of the four drones. Cloud had been quick, but the drones were on the offensive, each firing a round of laser bursts from a small cannon, one burst for each foe. Cloud, unable to move was hit dead on, the blast sending him flying backwards, his body landing hard and sending up a puff of dust as he tumbled across the ground.

The poison had no effect as it leaked off the edges of the machine and dissipated into the air. With no other offensive magic at her disposal, and being too far to reach with her spear, Avelia fell back to give herself a better chance of supporting the others. Suddenly, separate hatches across the machine began to open up. A flashback occured in her mind. Was it de ja vu or had she seen this machine somewhere before? Without another second to think, lasers began to shoot out at each of them. Ducking sharply, the laser narrowly missed Avelia's arm. However, the loud thud from behind her indicated someone else had not been so lucky. “Cloud!” Avelia stood up quickly, positioning her staff and focusing her mind, bringing upon the powers of yet another cure spell to help heal Cloud's newly inflicted wound. Was this ever going to be over? “Perhaps we should just run!?”

As the laser shot towards Tsuna, the former expeirment dropped to the ground instantly, causing the blast to go right over him. Before his back hit the ground, Tsuna slammed his feet on the ground and was back up “Aim for the helicopter, I got the drones.” Tsuna shouted out to his allies knowing he would be able to use lightning when he wanted, but he could sure slice some things up. He made a dash towards his attacker. With a leap that took Tsuna within range of the drone, he slammed his right arm carrying his sword towards the drone.

Raiden stood idle, observing the heli-tank touch down. For a brief moment the former Turk had thought they were victorious, only for it to release a group drones to attack them, and a cry of warning from Cloud sharply cut through the air. “You've gotta be kiddin' me,” he moaned in complaint. They wouldn't be able to keep up their brutal assault upon this mechanical monstrosity much longer; their repeated encounters with opposing forces was sure to have put as much strain on the others as it had on him. As their new opponents fired a volley of lasers at each of them the swordsman sidestepped the attack with ease, only to hear the sound of a body crashing into the ground and a cry from Avelia calling out Cloud's name. In that moment the man's brow furrowed, fixating his deathly cold gaze upon the heli-tank.
“Fuckin' Shinra,” Raiden spat bitterly, each and every word dripping with venom. “always pissin' on the weak like you're the big dogs.” Maintaining a slow and steady gait the ex-Turk approached the downed heli-tank, oblivious to the battle now. It was true that he didn't have any kind of real connection with the others but he certainly wasn't about to let them die like this; they were all merely fighting a tool meant to do the work for the cowards who were too pathetic to fight their own battles.
Raiden abruptly halted in front of the idle heli-tank, observing the machine in order to find an exploitable gap in the armor. Even if he couldn't find one he'd try to make one. This was going to end now one way or the other. With a precision thrust the former Turk once more charged his weapon with electricity to cast another Bolt spell; this time aiming to release the spell internally within the machine if possible…
(OOC: I'm not sure how this kind of attack would play out[if its even allowed],but I figured it might be smart to try a more intelligent approach to my assault.)
Cloud rolled his battered body over, hoping to see what exactly had happened. Pulling himself to a knee he felt eased as Avelia's cure spell restored him to a point, though his body was still in no shape for this kind of endeavor. He watched as Tsuna bravely and bullishly took the drones on in a physical melee his sword strikes true and one point, it seems the drones had taking focus on him as well sending random bursts of laser fire in his direction as the hovered around the Nibel mountain side. ” We are running… ” Cloud said with a fake smile, trying to make light of the situation he had gotten these strangers into, strangers he now felt to be friends, even if he didn't know anything about them but their names, there would be time for that when they escaped this nightmare. ” He's close, we just have to get to the re.. ” Cloud spoke but before he could finish his sentence a explosion rocked the area. Cloud whipped his head around towards the rope bridge and the reactor beyond it. Flames and smoke shot upward into the sky, debris raining all around them as the ground continued to tremble with great force. As the tremors died down Cloud was still locked on the reactor, almost as if the vicious battle going on around him had ceased to exist, he could feel that something was wrong, he could feel it in he core. 'This wasn't how it was meant to be' the workds resonated inside of his mind. Tearing his focus away Cloud looked at the others, at the drones, and most notibly at Raiden, he had the right idea. Tsuna would have to hold up, he would surely be badly injured but if he could hold those drones they could finish this. ” Yes, lets finish that thing off Raiden! ” Cloud shouted as he pulled himself up and began to move across the battlefield towards Raiden. Avelia, please keep Tsuna alive, we can do the rest. ” CHe spoke as he reached Raiden reaching out and placing his hands on the helitank, summoning another round of lightning to surge through it.

Avelia could tell the battle was coming to a close, and was thankful for that. Her energy was low and she would need some time to rest. Still, it wasn't over just yet and her companions still needed her help. Focusing her powers on Tsuna, she directed a cure spell his way to quickly heal his wounds, allowing him to continue battling. “Go get him, guys! I'll support you from here!” Avelia's body slumped, the exhaustion kicking in, as she prayed this would be over.
OOC: Finally, I've done nothing but cast cure for 2 months… On a side note, and I wasn't too sure where to put this, any news on Biohazard?

Tsuna did his best to move as erratic as possible to throw off any computer targetting the drones had, but even that didn't keep him from being harmed. Tsuna took his pain in silence, but his face showed what his voice didn't. The former expirement dropped to the ground due to the strain of the pain until a green haze began to flow over him. As his strength began to return, Tsuna went on the immediate offensive. His movements becoming more erratic with spins, leaps and rolls. Tsuna's blade painted abstract shapes in the sky as it slide through the air at the drones attacking the crew.

“Tch,” Raiden scoffed in frustration. It had been his hope that would end it but the machine was still functional, albeit the spell had clearly done considerable damage. “one more time is all I've got, ” he announced grimly, tightening both hands upon the shamshir's hilt. Inhaling a deep breath the former turk gathered himself and focused the remnants of his energy into his Lightning materia; the blade began to crackle with electricity for a moment before yet another explosion of lightning was released into the inner workings of the machine–he could only hope this would do the trick.
With a final crackle of lightning a burst of billowing black smoke and sparks erupted from the helitank, followed by a complete powering down of all of it's components, it had been defeated. Moments later as the power of the drones sank they tumbled to the rocky Nibel ground in heaps. Pulling himself along Cloud took a moment to take in the scene before setting his sights on the rope bridge, and the uncertainty that lie below the cliff on the other side. ” We have to get to the reactor! ” Cloud spoke, his voice breaking, the emotion taking over. Fighting his body, he pulled himself past his allies and across the bridge. The heat from the fires could be felt rising with the smoke from the many explosions that had rocked the mountain. Cloud's insides tensed up as he walked to the cliff's edge, peering through the breaks in smoke at the carnage below. ” We were to late. ” Cloud said, his voice somber as his eyes began to well up. The scene below, caught only through breaks in the haze was unsettling, the illumating flicker of the flames reflecting in the crimson of blood which was smeared and puddled through out the entrence to the reactor. The lifeless bodies of ShinRa grunts and soldiers littering the area, haphazardly strewn about. Cloud knew what he would find inside, this scene was now all to clear in his mind, he had lived it before.
— OOC Talk: This chapter is nearly complete, we simply need to close it out inside the reactor so lets all head down there and get ready for the closing segment. As for Biohazard, I don't really have any plans for reopening it, though it is a complete site and if the interest was there I would consider it. That being said Clerith I know you had some interest in FF8A, and though I don't ever intend to fully finish it and open it to the public San and I have been RPing there and if you wanted to join us that would be cool.

Avelia watched in disbelief as the machine finally fell, defeated by their efforts. She felt weak and exhausted, ready to collapse. The adrenaline that had fueled her attempts to keep her allies alive had emptied itself and, all in an instant, disappeared from her body. Everybody else looked just as tired but they knew they had to get to a safer spot. Cloud spoke, a deep emotion in his voice. With no other way to go, she followed Cloud towards the reactor, hoping it would offer them sanctuary…. However, the scene before them told a different story.
OOC: Great, I'll check it out. I've always preferred FF8 to FF7.
