Birth of the Heartless – 14 years ago
Through research into the darkness of the heart by keyblade master Xehanort, the theory of the heartless was born. By using his keyblade, Xehanort was able to unlock the hearts of people, separating it into darkness, light, and body. The darkness formed into the heartless. The body formed into nobodies. Finally, the light spread throughout the universe. With the discovery of the heartless, came the discovery of Kingdom Hearts, the heart of all worlds. Only a keyblade forged by the clash of pure light and darkness could open the door that lead to the power beyond.
Ventus, Apprentice – 14 years ago
In an effort to create beings of pure light and darkness, Xehanort took on an apprentice, Ventus. Xehanort soon found Ventus to be lacking as an apprentice and forcibly seperated the light and the darkness from Ventus without seperating the body. This created a new entity, Vanitas. The two new beings were able to exist by connecting to two hearts on the planet that the separation took place, Destiny Island. Ventus attached to Sora while Vanitas attached to Riku. Xehanort took Vanitas as his apprentice and gave Ventus to a fellow keyblade master, Eraqus, till he was ready to fulfill his destiny.
Terra, Aqua, and Ventus – 10 years ago
Under the tutelage of Master Eraqus, Ventus became a great keyblader with his fellow apprentices Aqua and Terra. During the Mark of Mastery, the test to become a keyblade master, Aqua passed while Terra showed signs of using darkness and thus failed. Xehanort, seeing potential in Terra, sent him to go fight the Unversed, a new enemy to the universe unknowingly the extension of Vanitas. Master Eraqus sent Master Aqua to go rescue Terra from the road he was now travelling and Ventus followed in secret.
Vanitas and Ventus – 10 years ago
After travelling around the Universe, Vanitas and Ventus finally came to their final clash. The two beings merged back into one and began to form the chi-blade within their own body. Ventus, using the strength of his heart, sealed Vanitas and the chi-blade deep within his heart. The exertion of sealing the two, sent Ventus into a sleep from which he did not wake up. His body remained as it was, while Vanitas fought for control from within his heart. Aqua found Ventus and brought him back to the Land of Departure, their home with Master Eraqus. By using the defense mechanism of Master Eraqus, Aqua turned the Land of Departure into a white castle which took the memories of any who entered, Castle Oblivion.
Ansem, Seeker of Darkness – 10 years ago
After various battles with the Unverse, Terra slowly became consumed by the darkness. Xehanort, needing a new body as his was becoming old, consumed the body of Terra taking it for himself. Using his keyblade able to unlock the hearts of people, Xehanort unlocked his heart making himself into a heartless, going by the name of Ansem, Seeker of Darkness. With his new found body and power, Ansem, Seeker of Darkness, began going from world to world with his heartless. Finding those that could be corrupted and seeking the chi-blade which he had tried to form. |
Forces of Light Assembly – 5 years ago
For the past 5 years, Mickey has fought against the heartless as best he could with the help of his master Yen Sid. With only the two of them capable to fight the heartless, the fight seemed hopeless. That was until Yen Sid discovered a magical ability he could teach anyone. Known as Heart Attack, the user is able to use the power of their heart to destroy the heartless, but without other keybladers the battles seemed to never end. Until Mickey sealed the keyhole of a world, the heartless would just keep coming. Mickey continues recruiting warriors and bringing them to his castle for training even as he seeks out world keyholes.
Princesses of Heart – 5 years ago
Hollow Bastion, the base for the heartless, was a planet with a particularly strong heart. Its keyhole requires 7 princesses of strong heart in order to form the keyhole and allow Ansem, Seeker of Darkness, to use the full power of his castle. Through his travels, Ansem has captured 3 of the 7 princesses, Aurora, Alice, and Cinderella. Mickey was able to rescue Snow White while Belle, Kairi, and Jasmine still remain in hiding. The fight over the Princesses continues to rage to this day as the heartless try to capture all seven of them.
Formation of the Resistance – 4 years ago
As worlds continued to be destroyed by heartless, more and more wild corridors of darkness continued to sent refugees to Traverse Town. So many, that when King Mickey rescued someone and they choose not to follow him he would bring him here. Leon, Aerith, Yuffie, and Cid were some of the first refugees to arrive here. With the power of Heart Attack, Leon formed an organization known as The Resistance, a group of refugees from planet’s destroyed by the heartless all with one goal. Destroy the Heartless. |
Destruction of Destiny Island – 6 Months Ago
The heartless had finally reached Destiny Island. Sora tried to stand up to the heartless, but no keyblade came to his aid. Without the keyblade to stop them, The heartless quickly overwhelmed the islands. King Mickey came, but it seemed to late. Riku and Kairi were both in comatose states while Sora was no where to be seen. Mickey grabbed Riku and when he reached Kairi she was sucked into a portal the likes Mickey had never seen before. Riku’s heart was shattered by the darkness that crept into it and seemed unlikely to awaken. Finally, after months of treatment, Yen Sid was able to seal the darkness within Riku allowing him to awaken once again.
Midgar – 2 Days Ago
After the destruction of Gaia, A piece of it’s heart was able to reform part of the vast planet into a smaller one. This new planet, Midgar, was guided by the piece of heart still remaining within to the part of the universe where Traverse Town and the rest of the planets were. Leon and Mickey immediately sent representatives to speak with the leader of the new planet to see what they know about the heartless. |
