the core feature of the final fantasy viii stat system is the ability to junction guardian forces to your characters which allows them to be summoned in combat as well as gives your character the ability to junction magic spells to your stats to boost them, junction abilities to your character to allow more combat activities, and junction magic spells to your elemental and status attack and defenses giving you almost complete control of your characters customization. it goes without saying that junctioning can be a challenging aspect to master, so if you have any questions or comments about the information present in the section feel free to post said questions on the ( questions board )

guardian forces are legendary creatures which when junctioned to a character through the use of a technique designed by dr. odine, the leading expert on sorcery and magic from the advanced nation of esthar, can be summoned and allow characters to learn specific stat boosting abilities, among other skills. guardian forces are the first thing a character must junction before proceeding to skill and ability boosting, every player on final fantasy viii annihilation starts with one guardian force of their choice based on their ( organization ) and can junction as many as they have at once time, to read more on guardian forces as well as information on stat, command, and skill junctioning visit ( this ) section.

junctioning magic is one of the best ways to customize your character but isn’t as simple as just designating a spell to a stat. before you can junction magic to your stats you must have a guardian force which knows a stat junction ability (for example, shiva has the str-j ability which allows you to junction magic to your strength stat). there is a corresponding stat-j ability for each of your characters attributes and they must be learned to junction magic to that stat. once you know what stats you can junction magic too it becomes a simple process of designating a spell to that stat. the more of that spell you have the better it will effect the stat boost, with different spells boosting each stat differently. to remove any of the math from the process ffviii annihilation hosts a full ( junction calculator ) which members can use to see how their magic will effect their stats.

much like with magic junctioning once your guardian forces have learned the required skills you will also be able to junction magic to your elemental and status attacks and defense. the process is much like that of stat boosting, using our ( elem/st junction calculator ) to see how certain spells will effect your attacks and defense. elemental junctioning well allow you to add elements like fire, water, wind, etc to your attacks which will deal extra damage to enemies weak to those elements, while defense will allow you to guard against those elements. status junction is the same allowing you to add status effects to your attacks, like sleep or silence, while junctioning to your defense will protect you against those same status effects.

besides junctioning magic to stats, attack, and defense, you will also be able to junction specific abilities your guardian forces learn which can benefit them statistically or benefit your character in various ways. for example, ifrit can learn the ability STR+20% which when junctioned to your characters abilities will boost your strength 20%. there are a great number of different abilities which the guardian forces can learn to learn more about them visit ( this ) page. Also remember at first you can only junction two abilities at a time, but as your guardian forces advance you may be able to eventually junction up to four.

much like with ability junctioning you also have control over what commands you wish to junction. commands are used in combat and determine what your character can do in battle. some example of commands that all guardian forces know are summon, draw, item, and magic but there are many more you can teach them as you grow. to learn more about commands please visit the ( combat.sys ) page. please keep in mind that at any given time your character can only have three commands junctioned, this never changes and must be kept track of by the player.

with junctioning being as important as it is we know players will be doing lot of experimenting with all the different kinds of junctioning, just please make sure that you try to keep your update requests together so that when a updater goes to change your bio they have everything you want updated together and aren’t constantly having to go back and update your page again because you posted all your junctioning updates in several different threads.
